Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2)

'Gardener's Cottage' is located in Historic Flat Rock on the Beckon Ridge Estate. Overlooking a picture perfect pond, you will feel the stress drain from your soul as you listen to the sound of water running downstream and watch the fish swim casually about. How can this special place be so close to town?

Inside you will find the 1 BR & 1 bath cottage comfortable and cozy. Downstairs is a fully equipped kitchen and dining area overlooking the pond & living room with 32 inch flat screen TV. The furniture is comfortable and practical.

Up the spiral stair (or the exterior steps) is the lovely bedroom with queen sized bed and bathroom with stall shower and laundry area. The cottage has central air and heat and is bright and airy.

Sit outside the bedroom on the small covered balcony to enjoy your morning coffee, evening cocktail or to read a book. It is a lovely private space overlooking the pond, dam and grounds.

While walking along the stream & around the pond (you may stay on the paved drive if you prefer), remember to stop for a bit to sit on a bench or one of the landscape walls and notice how nature surrounds you. The wonderful wildlife and foliage is not to be missed.

If you come by motorcycle, you probably know that this whole area is a Bikers Bonanza with great rides in all directions! Cruise Little River Rd, to Crab Creek to Dupont Forest or to Pisgah Forest and the ultimate...the Blue Ridge Parkway. (For your convenience, covered bike parking is gladly provided at the main house.)

All that Historic Flat Rock has to offer, the shops at Little Rainbow Row, Carl Sandburgs Connemara Farm, the goats, the Playhouse are all less than 2 miles away...and Hendersonville's historic Main Street is only 3 miles away, with many excellent restaurants, shops, and exhibits...and Saluda, The Green River Gorge with kayaking, tubing, waterfalls fishing and NEW IN 2013: ZIP LINES OVER THE TREES all within a half hours drive.

You know, when the Gardener ran off with the Maid, we were concerned... But The Maids Quarters have been rented, and the Gardeners Cottage is ready for your arrival; so give us a call.

About Victor & Darlene

We are formerly from Long Island and the Catskill Mountains in NY. When the kids moved on we knew it was time for us to go too. We are semi retired and from the mountains, so WNC was an easy transition. We are just loving it here and hope you will too.

Gardeners Cottage is only 2 miles to The Carl Sandburg National Historic Site, the Flat Rock Playhouse, The Cinema, restaurants, golf, and Main Street Hendersonville with all its shops and nightlife.

Within a couple of miles you can patronize any number of good eating and drinking establishments, some with live entertainment on weekend nights. And you are only a few minutes from the supermarket or the food co-op for organic foods.

In addition to hiking trails and the House Tour, the Sandburg site, (aka Connemara Farm) is steeped in Civil War history. And be sure to see their nationally recognized goat herd. Of course the Dupont Forest, is just a short drive and The Green River Gorge with tube rentals and easy access for fishing and kayaking is just 30 minutes south. NEW 2013: ZIP LINES OVER THE FOREST!

There is just so much to see and do around here in any season. The only problem is that once you find the hammock, you may not want to get up and go anywhere!

Private, but not isolated, Gardeners Cottage is right smack dab where you want to be!

Beautiful setting! The pond is only feet from the front door. The hammock is a little bit further - but not much. Relaxing, comforting, enjoyable. The place is super clean - literally new! The music, the welcome basket... all personal touches that really made us feel like old friends! The Inn Keepers are warm and friendly! We will return!

Thank you for sharing your "labor of love" with us! The Cottage on the Pond was perfect for a little Spring Break Getaway! The cottage was perfect and the extras (basket with goodies, stocked kitchen, and everything else) made it even better! The surprise visitors (Canadian geese) were a treat! We were able to watch them build their nest and the female lay her eggs! We loved exploring the area (Flatrock and Hendersonville)! Thank you again! We would like to return (perhaps in the fall)!

Great Getaway in Very nice area!

Our Christmas vacation was spent in the Gardner's Cottage. It was a great location, nice and quiet but also centrally located between shops/ restaurants and beautiful hiking trails with waterfalls.We had complete privacy but yet Victor made his self readily available if we had any questions. When we arrived they had us a basket of local gifts, jam, wine, and honey with plenty of information on surrounding areas to visit.
The cottage has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. We cooked the entire week and we were able to save a lot of $. The pond is a beautiful view to wake up to and there are plenty of areas to go and read a good book. Very relaxing vacation, Thanks Victor!

The cabin is located in a lovely and peaceful setting. The location is great, just a short drive to the shopping and restaurants of Hendersonville. The cabin is well furnished and equipped, with thick towels, soft premium bedding, and thoughtful touches like tea bags, sugar, and laundry cubes. We enjoyed the basket of local goodies, and especially liked the little boxed chocolates.
Vic was responsive and helpful with restaurant suggestions like the excellent pizza and service at the Flat Rock Wood Room. An all around lovely stay. Thank you!

a wonderfu mountain escape

We would highly recommend the "Cottage on Pond" to anyone. The property was clean, new and had everything we could want. Additionally the owners went above and beyond our expectations with a welcome basket with items from the local bakery, vineyard and general store. The location was very convenient for day hikes in Dupont Forest and to the spectacular views of Chimney Rock. The nearby towns of Hendersonville and Flat Rock offered plenty of dining options. Overall we'd love to go back and would highly recommend this cottage.
