PERFECT!!

  • 5 of 5
Upon entering the driveway, I knew I had made the right choice. The property is lovely...prettier than the pictures. We felt at home walking through the front door. The house was clean, smelled fresh and was roomy. We couldn't wait to cut the cake that Lynda left for us on the table. We had everything at our fingertips. Nothing was missing. There were pots, pans, lots of dishes, spices, etc. There was a binder with anything you needed to know about the property or area. I would recommend this home and we hope to be back.
We were in Red Hook for a family wedding. If you're interested in shopping in a wonderful farm store, stop by Sawkill Farm store for fresh eggs and fabulous meat. We also had dinner at the Market Street Restaurant in Rhinebeck. The service and food was great.
Have fun...we did!

Owner's Response: Thank you Ondrea and Jeffrey for choosing to stay at Shepherd's Knoll Farm and taking the time to submit such a nice review. It was a pleasure meeting you and your family. We want our guests to feel they can relax and enjoy their home away from home and we are so glad you were able to do so. Northern Dutchess County is a huge farm to market area and we hope soon to have fresh eggs from our chickens to offer our guests as well. Looking forward to your return!
Warm Regards,
Lynda & Jim

ENJOYABLE STAY

  • 4 of 5
We had a large family gathering for the holidays and this property suited our needs adequately. The location was very nice. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment. The house itself was not the cleanest. Because we came in the winter and the house had not been rented for a while, perhaps, this would explain the condition. However, we had a wonderful time and found the location to be very convenient. The large dining room table and supply of a variety of dishes, serving plates, etc. did help us enjoy our big meals together. The owners were on sight the whole time we stayed there and were available for assistance if we needed it. The bird feeders were always full and we loved watching all the varieties of birds that visited the feeders. We also saw some deer in the yard. There was plenty of wood for the stoves and we were all kept cozy and warm. Our family truly enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: We are so happy your family was able to enjoy their stay at Shepherd's Knoll. We take pride in offering our clean, comfortable home to our guests and if anything falls short of that, we do everything we can to make it right when it is brought to our attention. Some things, like weather and seasonal events are out of our control though.

Thank you for your feedback. In the future we will make sure we check in with our guests during their stay to address any concerns in real time and to ensure that they have a positive rental experience at Shepherd's Knoll.

We enjoyed having your family here and if your travels bring you back to the Mid Hudson Valley, we hope you stay with us again.

Warm Regards,
Lynda & Jim Dunckley

SHEPHERDS KNOLL - A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

  • 5 of 5
When we decided that we would spend Thanksgiving weekend in Eastern New York, we were hoping to find somewhere that the kids could unwind from college, and that we could still have a family weekend. Your place filled the bill, and then some! It wasn't 30 seconds before the kids began investigating the home for 'their' space, and in minutes they were sprawled throughout the house, playing games, watching the various TV's, and just kicking back. Where else could 7 kids stretch out and relax? We had a great time, and are already looking for when we will return! Thanks for everything!

OASIS OF CALM, TRANQUILITY AND BEAUTIFUL SCENERY

  • 5 of 5
We had an amazing time at Shepherd's Knoll. The 4 of us girlsfriends wanted a relaxing getaway with a hot tub as a base to explore the Hudson Valley. What a lovely house and such welcoming hosts! There were fresh cookies on arrival and another delivery the next day. We enjoyed the hot tub and looking out at the moon both nights, cooked lovely meals in the super equipped kitchen, toasted in the basement sauna, drank hot tea by the fire and slept like babies in the comfy beds. Only a short drive to the Roosevelt House, Vanderbilt Mansion and Hudson Bridge made it ultra convenient too. A short break we wish could have been longer and a holiday we will remember for years to come. Can't recommend highly enough!

Owner's Response: Thank you Lisa for choosing to stay at Shepherd's Knoll for your girls getaway weekend! We really love the peaceful setting ourselves, and the night sky is amazing with the multitude of stars away from the city lights. That was awesome that you enjoyed the hot tub under the full moon!

We are so happy you also got a chance to take in some of the local historic sites around our area even considering your short stay. There is so much to do and see, but sounds like you were able to do exactly what you set out to do... relax and have an enjoyable stress-free weekend with your friends.

It was a pleasure meeting all of you and we hope that if your future plans bring you back to the Mid-Hudson Valley region you will consider staying at Shepherd's Knoll again.

Warm Regards,
Lynda & Jim

SOLID VACATION RENTAL EXPERIENCE!!

  • 4 of 5
We had a great time at this vacation rental. We had two small kids and two families and there was ample room in and about the place. Kitchen is updated, furniture keeps with the retreat theme, and light in the house is good. We were even greeted with cookies and a welcome note! The only minor nits would be the basement space is a bit dated (but we didnt need it since there were 4 br upstairs) and there wasn't any AC in the main space (window units) but the owners were very responsive and helped accommodate with fans that made the stay very enjoyable. It should be noted the owners are genuinely interested in their guests and appear to take pride in it. This is what separates this place from others. Overall, I would definitely come back and stay here - it is quite close to the city of rhinebeck and the setting is idyllic as it is tucked away. Thanks for having us!

Owner's Response: Thank you Sam! We really enjoyed having you and your family stay with us. You did pick the hottest days of the year, so glad we are able to provide extra fans and window AC units to keep you cool and comfortable.

The basement space is on our list for future updating. We plan to retain the comfortable family gathering room feel and lighten up the man cave. We are always open to feedback and suggestions from our visiting guests and we appreciate yours!

Thank you for choosing to stay at Shepherd's Knoll and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

NY SHEEP & WOOL WEEKEND

NY Sheep & Wool Weekend
  • 5 of 5
We arrived late Friday night for a long weekend. All of 10 of us were there to go to the NY Sheep & Wool festival. There was a basket of cookies waiting for us when we arrived. We were so pleased with our accommodations. The house was clean, the kitchen was ready for us to use, the beds were comfortable. After 2 long days at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, we spent the evenings talking, knitting, and watching The Walking Dead.

We had a fantastic weekend and are already talking about coming back in 2014. We definitely recommend this property.
