My husband and I have been together since we were teenagers and have always made our way up to Pennsylvania from New York for the past 32 years. We accidentally found Jim Thrope when we picked up a brochure for mountain biking. When we turned into the town we couldn't believe how beautiful it was. As we took our first step into this house, we were in love. I hope you will have wonderful memories, adventure packed weeks or just stop in and fall in love all over again!
Denise Rossano purchased this house in 2011
Besides the obvious reasons of beauty, the history of the house and its location, just sold us.
Walk to musical shows, museums, restaurants and shops.
Thank you so much for opening your home to us. We had such a wonderful time for Valentine's/Winterfest. Your home is gorgeous, our group was very thrilled. We loved the location as well, we walked everywhere. We got to see our favorite Tribute band, Tusk, as well at Mauch chunk opera house, we also did the scenic train ride and the mug walk. This is our first time staying in your lovely home, and our third year coming to Jim Thorpe. We have made many wonderful memories. Perfect in every way.
We could not have wished for better weather or accommodations. A perfect fall weekend to ride the train and stroll the streets of Jim Thorpe. Three stressed couples arrived and were instantly thrilled with the beautiful home. We relaxed, listened to music, and ate pizza in the most elegant dining room ever! Everything needed was provided!!! Thanks for the attitude adjustment and a time to appreciate and enjoy friends the way everyone should.
The house is BEAUTIFUL and in a perfect location!!! Very spacious, all redone with many original features maintained.
So much to do in Jim Thorpe. Restaurants, live music, pubs, biking, hiking, white water rafting, sight-seeing, something for everyone!! The house is right on the main street, you can walk to so much.
Homeowners are lovely and answer any questions immediately.
We will all be back!!!
it was my 3rd time renting this house. my crew go out pretty often for all the activities and this loc is the only place that we tried three times. above all, the owner is way nice and does the best for customers like us. this is my first time writing a review on the rental house even if I tried many other places. I will try this house again in near future.
We rented this beautiful home for our son's wedding weekend. The wedding ceremony was at the Mauch Chunk Opera House, so the location could not have been better. We put up a group of his college friends here with their spouses and they had plenty of room and privacy and loved it. This house is stunning. The rooms are lovingly appointed and beautiful. The home has so much space to relax and spread out in comfort. It is the perfect place for a reunion or for friends or family to share a beautiful space together. The location is perfect as it is in the heart of where everything is happening in Jim Thorpe. Just a few doors from the Opera House and a short walk across the street for a bite to eat or shopping, it is the perfect location and setting for a wonderful get-away! The owner was so friendly and accessible. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!
A friend of mine and I make a trip to Jim Thorpe yearly...not to visit the down but to kayak the Lehigh River and we camp. Last year, our spouses went with us and LOVED the town. This summer, we got the 2 families together and took the kids for their first time to Jim Thorpe (and quite honestly ours!). We chose this Victorian for the character and how well centered it was in town. Not once did we have to drive as we were perfectly located. One thing I loved is that it is just past the Opera House, getting you off of the very busy part of Broadway. With 5 bedrooms, we were able to fit 4 adults,3 teenagers, 2 kids and a baby easily. With the finished sunroom, we were able to spread out and not feel cramped. The kids loved how comfortable the couches were for late night movies. The sunroom was a great spot to just unwind a bit. The bedrooms are far enough back that there was quiet even if others were up. Every single thing you could need, down to Benadryl, was found in the house. The house was beautifully decorated...one could get lost just looking at the furnishings. Denise was great to work with and flexible with us after a family emergency occurred that we had to move our trip by 2 months. ****Please keep in mind that there are some very old, irreplaceable pieces in this house. I am NOT recommending this home for small/young children because of this. Our kids are all over 7 with the exception of our 8mos old daughter. As much as we loved this house, I am doubtful we will stay next year with a toddler...but I know we will be back again! If you have a large party or older kids, you will not be disappointed in this house. It is PERFECT in every way and fits the town beautifully.
Steps away from The Mauch Chunk Opera House, fine restaurants and entertainment. Amazing outdoor activities to choose from like hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, paint balling, festivals to name a few. Walk through the village in downtown Jim Thorpe, shop at our unique vintage shops, visit our numerous art galleries, Take a tour of the Asa Packard Mansion or our beautiful St. Marks Church with its stunning Tiffany windows. Walk or take historic tours on a Segway. Take a 25 mile train ride through the most beautiful mountains in Pennsylvania or take a ride into the coal mines and hear all the history of our coal miners. Lakes, parks & trails everywhere surround you.
