We take great pride in providing an extremely clean house. Our rental is fully inspected prior to each arrival for a double check after the initial clean.
Together Cindy and her partner Mark (pictured) manage the day to day details of The Good Earth. Cindy and her brother Bob purchased the house and property together in the spring of 2012. Cindy lives in Oregon and retired in 2008 after 31 years of service with the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Department. Bob lives in Northern Virginia, and retired from GSA with the federal government in 1997. Cindy is a mother, published freelance writer, and a foster kitten/cat caregiver for Brightside Animal Center. Bob is an avid reader, a history and plane buff, and a man of wit and charm. Mark is a super gifted 'jack of all trades' and keeps everything at the rental running like a well oiled machine! He usually greets all the guests personally and keeps that fire stoked just perfectly for a relaxing soak in the cedar Snorkel hot tub! Cindy and Mark are the faces you will see here at The Good Earth, and are always ready to help in any way to make sure your stay is as enjoyable and pleasant as it can possibly be.
Cindy Murphy purchased this house in 2012
We love the shop, raising chickens for fresh eggs, garden beds, the sunlit atrium, vegetation in the yard, the wildlife, colorful lizards, end of the road privacy and the incredible view!! We live in this neighborhood as well, only 4 houses down the hill from the rental. We know and love the area, and are only minutes away to provide the best customer service possible. This is a gem of a house, and so close to everything!
Besides the majestic vista, out the back door hiking, and open space and privacy, we are also part of a small community water system in the same aquifer as Earth2O which means good clear water! There is a newly paved road, unique quiet neighborhood with no light pollution and thousands of brilliant stars in the night sky! The raised garden beds, and healthy herb gardens provide extras for summer guests who like to cook! We are only a mile away from Hwy 97, and right in the heart of outdoor recreation at it's finest. Again we remind people that this is a non smoking neighborhood, and we monitor this extremely closely due the danger of fire. If you are tempted to smoke, please consider another property. We also have two resident shop cats who patrol for rodents. They are comfortable and at home in their heated shop, but do not come into the rental house.
My wife and two friends from Hawaii shared Mark and Cindy's house. We can honestly say there was as much aloha there as you will find anywhere in Hawaii. While my wife and her friends were attending a seven-day yoga retreat, I did a lot of nothing interspersed with daily runs. Mark took time out from his busy schedule (he's so busy, he makes he feel lazy, and I'm not lazy!) to show me the best runs around his house, as well as side trips to Smith Rock, which featured a run way beyond my ambitions. Maybe next time. As soon as I landed back in Honolulu, I was telling my wife, Hey, we should go back to Terrabonne, no reason other than how good it was to be there at Mark and Cindy's wonderfully warm (metaphorically as well as actually) vacation home. If you can't get to Hawaii, then I recommend this place whole-heartedly! Mahalo nui loa, Mark and Cindy!
It was such an amazing stay! We were welcomed by the beauty of Smith Rock and everything around it. The relaxing and calming area around this Good Earth Home is great for couples! My husband and I came to this area for our 15th anniversary and enjoyed every piece of it. The home was so clean and welcoming! The timeless sights around this home is breath-taking! It is a one-in-a-million chance that words cannot describe. The photos are not enough to describe this gorgeous area. Because of Good Earth Homes, we have had our best anniversary yet. This home deserves more than five stars. It was better than staying at a five star hotel! The warm and inviting areas around this peaceful area were just what we needed. I would recommend Good Earth Homes to anyone! Mark and Cindy, we can't thank you enough for our remarkable memories. We can't wait until next year! P.S, because the bed was so amazing and comfortable, I made my husband go out and buy me a new bed! Thank you!!
Mark and Cindy are true professionals in hospitality. I have been to several VRBO listed properties and they vary dramatically. This property and the accompanying service provided by Mark and Cindy are at the very top. I'm happy to report that this is my second stay at The Good Earth and I plan to be back. The location is perfect for beautiful views with a somewhat rural setting while still being just minutes from great restaurants and Smith Rock State Park.
The owners have provided every detail, from fressh coffee, flowers, and eggs from the chicken coop, to laundry soap, bath soaps, and towels, to a relaxing snorkel hot tub. The property is spacious and comfortable with Netflix and Pandora, playing cards and games, comfortbable beds, and granite countertops in the full kitchen.
Thanks Mark, it was a pleasure to have a host across the country who cares so much!
Mark and Cindy made our stay fantastic! They were just so awesome at getting everything just right. We stayed out the Good Earth over my daughter's Spring break and we had such a great time. We spent most of the day time climbing at Smith Rock and it was such a welcoming sight to see the hot tub all warmed up! We highly recommend the Good Earth for families or adventure tourists getting in a visit to Smith. Way better than camping in the cold without a shower!!
My husband booked 5 days at the Good Earth Home for my birthday and we had a great time. We loved the location being so close to Smith Rock. We also enjoyed a day out fishing the Crooked River. We kept busy during the day climbing, hiking, trail running and fishing so it was great to come home to the wood burning hot tub and comfy interior every evening. We also loved the fresh eggs for morning breakfast! If you are looking for a great spot for a couple or a larger party I highly recommend the Good Earth!
The Good Earth Home was the perfect spot for setting up home base for the Eastern Oregon University Outdoor Club Spring Break trip to Central Oregon this year. For many of the students this was a journey to a new part of the state, and the beautiful views of the valley and the mountains beyond, the comforting facilities (the wood-fire hot tub was a group favorite!), and hosts made it not only feel like that new adventure, but each night we returned to either cook a group dinner (shared some birthday celebrations!) or enjoy a drink after a day of climbing or rafting, it was still just like coming home. Can't wait to stay here again!
Welcome to The Good Earth! Our house is a charming super clean vacation rental with breathtaking views, located on the southern edge of Terrebonne Oregon. Our comfortable smoke free property offers all that you will need to relax and enjoy the beauty of the classic high desert. Just a note though.....if you are a smoker, PLEASE...seriously consider another property. Our entire neighborhood is non smoking due to the extreme fire danger that comes with the landscape here. Respect for our neighborhood and properties is important and we monitor this very closely. You are welcome in our home but if there is ANY sign of smoking in the area we will ask you to leave with no refund. With that being said....expect to enjoy northwest wine, or local beer of your choice, organic coffee, and fresh eggs from our chicken 'girls' housed on the property. We offer a three bedroom, two bath home with a very cool atrium nook and a spacious family room to accommodate additional guests. We are located on 2 acres high above our unique local town, and just minutes away from all types of outdoor recreation activities. 4 miles south on Hwy. 97 is Redmond with a great local vibe that includes lively bars, breweries, restaurants, and spot on coffee houses. 23 miles south is Bend, a mecca in the outdoor scene, 4.5 miles to the northeast Smith Rock State Park waits for your hiking boots to hit the trails beneath golden hued climbing walls. A complementary day use pass for all local Oregon State Parks is available for use during your stay. We are 40 minutes from the unique little community of Sisters at the base of the Cascades. Sisters is the home of towering pines, cool little boutiques, a killer quilt show and popular fall folk festival. It is most importantly (to Cindy anyway) the gateway to the magic that is the timeless Metolius River. Skiing, hiking, fishing, biking, rock climbing, and boating are all within 15 minutes to an hour, as well as live theater, great wines, and over the top brewers. If you want to stay within a mile of home.....Terrebonne has some awesome local spots that we visit often. Just ask us for our very local recommendations!! There are drop dead sunsets and soaking in the hot tub under brilliant stars. Come visit us and you will understand why we live here!
