Blowing Rock Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Log Cabin, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, air conditioning, 2 fireplaces

Ahhh- sluff off the city and feel the cool mountain air!

You will love this adorable 3 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin that sleeps 8, located off of Highway 221, just seven minutes from downtown Blowing Rock, NC. An open floor plan on the main floor allows for great entertaining with family and friends. The living room has a flat screen TV, wireless internet, Netflix, phone with unlimited long distance and a blueray player. The kitchen comes complete with coffee maker, microwave and dishwasher. A full size washer and dryer are located in the laundry room just off the kitchen, and central air for the few nights that might get warm.

Enjoy the wrap around deck with wooded view and gas grill. The screened in porch or the back deck is a great place to enjoy a good book and cool mountain temps. And with 2 stone fireplaces, you stay cozy in colder weather. There is a Queen bed in the Master bedroom and two twin beds in the 2nd guest room on the main level, with a newly refitted bathroom.

The lower level includes a family room, complete with it's own TV, and office area with a Queen size sleeper sofa, fireplace and newly refurbished bathroom. The lower level also includes a 3rd private bedroom with a Queen size bed. This area also has private access to the large back yard.

The cabin is great for two couples, or two families, each with their own living and sleeping areas, complete with TV and bath. Or the 'kids' can have the lower level to themselves while adults enjoy the main living area.

Come enjoy the summer fun -- zip-lining, canoeing and horse-back riding are close. We are just off Highway 221, a 7 minute drive into downtown Blowing Rock for pizza and ice cream. Also, Tweetsie Railroad, fishing, and gem mining are now open for family fun. Access to the cabin is flat and does NOT require 4-wheel drive.

Close to shopping, fine dining, skiing, horse-back riding, canoeing and rafting. A mere 1 mile to WestGlo spa for a luxury spa treatment. We are 2 miles from the Blueridge Parkway and 12 miles from Appalachian State University, the cabin is within easy access to many local attractions. In spring, the Steam Train at Tweetsie Railroad amusement park- 8 miles from the cabin, or mining for GEMS at Mystery Hill, or white-water rafting are minutes away. Don't forget zip-lining at Seven Devil Hills. Grandfather Mountains offers mile-high hanging bridge, hiking trails and hang-gliders, with one of the largest Scottish Games event in the country. And Linville Falls is a 20 minute ride. Moses Cone - a quick three miles away, offers numerous hiking trails, horse-back riding, and a craft center-open year round.

Want to be pampered? WestGlow Spa - rated one of the top ten Spa's by Travel & Leisure magazine is one mile away, offering exercise classes, massages, and a variety of packages.

The kids and dogs will enjoy a large yard for running and playing. And yes, a most important member of the family - small dogs- are allowed (under 20 pounds) with a deposit. Please contact us about larger dogs.

About Brian Rogers

We love to travel (with our two Yorkies when possible). VRBO has provided us with wonderful places in Greece, Maine, London, Pacific Northwest and San Francisco. After visiting the Boone/Blowing Rock area for the past 20 years, we are lucky to have a true 'log cabin' to call our own- and to share with you. Enjoy.

Brian Rogers purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Brian Rogers chose Blowing Rock

Ahh - as soon as you walk in the cabin you feel relaxed - calm- at ease. We have furnished our cabin with tasteful furnishings. The kitchen has everything needed for cooking, baking, blending and even a quesadilla maker. The master bedroom is furnished in French Toille, while the twin bedroom has antique white iron beds and fun 'blue-jean' theme. Bathrooms have been renovated in 2012. The lower level is great as a 'kids' area. If two couples or families share the unit, each family can have a 'separate' floor with their own private entrance, bath, sleeping quarters and family room with fireplace and TV. Enjoy hiking or horseback riding, then wash clothes in the full sized washer/dryer so you can go white-water rafting, GEM mining, or visit Linville Caverns the next day. Blowing Rock has kept it's mountain village charm, yet has great boutique shops, a variety of restaurants from ice cream shop to The Mellow Mushroom pizza to fine dining. And only 7 minutes away!

Or go hiking all day, and come back to cook some dinner on the new gas grill - or enjoy a glass of wine while rocking in the screened porch. The wrap around deck make you feel like your are cacooned in a treehouse - quiet - calm - ahh- you are home.

What makes this cabin unique

Two fireplaces, cozy furnishings, close to Blowing Rock, yet still in the woods. Very EASY access - no steep mountain road to get into or out of the cabin. Want to enjoy Merlefest - we are only 30 minutes away.

Guestbook comments from the manager

When our water pipes broke, we had to vacate our apartment. With a small child, and small dog, there are not many places we could go. Thank you for letting us stay in your vacation home while our house was without water. We cannot say how much we appreciate it. Your home is lovely and we really enjoyed our stay.

It had everything we needed, was warm and cozy with two fireplaces and very easy access. Whoever furnished the cabin, you thought of everything - and it was very neat.

Great Cabin

  • 5 of 5
I had an excellent time at the Hodge Lodge last weekend. The cabin was clean and well stocked, and served as an excellent home-base for our mountain weekend away. I plan on returning in the future and would recommend to anyone considering this location.
