Aloha! My name is Carmen Karady and have lived in Lahaina for over ten years. I teach yoga at the nearby hotel resorts and senior center. I am an active member of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset which meets every Tuesday evenings. As Past International chair for our club, I have travelled to Africa, India and Egypt.
I have a wonderful partner, Norman Estin, who is a physician in town for Doctors on Call. The terrific news is that I'm now a grandmother.
Carmen Karady purchased this condo in 2012
Voted as one of the best beach towns in the USA, this is a great location for tourists and locals alike, and it's getting better all the time because many of the historical sites are being renovated.
One of the advantages of living in Lahaina is that you really don't need a car. Everything is in walking distance--from the Banyan Park to the Harbor. The beach is right outside your door, as well as art galleries, museums, churches, restaurants, and shops. The location is really quite convenient.
Hawaii is unique for several reasons: its healing qualities due to the fresh air, sparkling warm ocean, sunshine, and constant year-round ideal temperatures. Not only do the winter birds flock to Maui, but summer birds as well because of the moderate climate. And let's not forget Maui's volcano, Haleakala, 'House of the rising sun,' a pilgrimage well worth taking at dawnbreak. Then there are jungles and waterfalls, golf galore, and day trips to neighboring islands. The list goes on and on.
One of the most unique benefits of this particular location is direct beach access--just walk out the back gate! Next door is the surfing school where you can rent paddle and surf board; and you can join my yoga classes for free.
When we first read Carmen's reviews they sounded too good to be true. After a thirty-one day stay at the studio, my wife and I can confirm the reviews were accurate. We were very satisfied with our stay. The condo has everything you could possibly need for your vacation. Carmen is an excellent host and is always prompt in responding to your requests or questions. The bed is very comfortable and the room is tastefully decorated. Carmen also informed me that she is in the process of completing some renovations on her studio. I am sure it will be very appealing. We look forward to returning. Mahalo Carmen!
Carmen is a wonderful host with an awesome gem of a place in Lahaina. The condo has everything you could possibly need (kitchen, stove, balcony - with an amazing view, and a really comfortable bed!). We had a really pleasant stay and would absolutely rent again.
Owner responsive to questions about the unit asked prior to booking. Clean unit with everything needed for comfortable visit including full size frig with effective freezer section and always had sufficiently hot water. Convenient 5 min walk to South end of Lahaina Front St shopping and restaurants. Close by covered parking with unlimited in/out privileges. West facing to view sunrises which is fine since ocean view not necessary, although looks out over parking lot and Front St. Prompt full refund of damage deposit. On site hot tub didn't stay open late enough as would have preferred but that is no fault of owner since Lahaina Shores property controlled. Enjoyed the property enough that already considering returning to this unit next summer for a longer stay but unsure if repeat customer incentive discounts offered (which also provide steady cash flow for owner)) and assuming rates remain reasonable for a Jul-Aug 2015 time frame visit.
We spent 4 nights here on our trip to Maui. The place was perfect- great location: you can walk to downtown, and the beach is in your backyard. You're right next door to a place you can rent boards at. The studio itself had everything we needed - a kitchen stocked well enough to cook up some meals and make coffee, towels and even sunscreen were in the unit. Carmen was extremely responsive as well. We would return in a heartbeat.
We loved our stay in this unit and were honestly sorry to leave. It just felt like a home away from home with quality furnishings, comfy armchairs and a comfy kingsize bed. The photos do not do the unit justice as it was much better "in real life" .There was a kitchen with full size fridge already stocked with ice and we enjoyed having our drinks out on the balcony which had a large table and 2 really nice rocking chairs. There was every amenity in the kitchen and the extra little touches that Carmen had given were appreciated...(fancy soap etc) The sunrise in the mornings was always different and the beautifully manicured lawns with sun loungers and a perfect view of the ocean was a nice way to relax in the afternoon during the heat of the day. The general store next door was very handy for supplies and had nice sandwiches and salads for lunch and then a short walk in the evening to the restaurants in the village. Captain Jack's was especially delicious for a nice steak.
Carmen was always quick to respond to my emails and very helpful at all times. I have already recommended this unit to some of my friends and I would return again in a heartbeat....Mahalo Carmen
Lahaina is perhaps the most charming and historic town in all of Hawaii. This unit at Lahaina Shores puts you within walking distance of the historic downtown. The unit was well equipped and furnished, providing everything necessary for an enjoyable visit. While it does not face the ocean side, it has its own charm. In the evening, seated on the balcony with a bottle of wine, you can watch as the sun illuminates the beautiful mountains of the Valley Isle. For the price, this is a great value and I would highly recommend it.
