We are a family of four grown up children, our parents bought the property and we now share it between us. As children we spent many summer holidays playing in the stream just below the cottage and enjoyed cycling in the forest. Now we let our children play in the stream whilst we enjoy walking in the trails in the woods or up on the Brecon Beacons.

Jayne Symons purchased this cottage in 1960

The lay out of the property is very social with the kitchen dinning room and the fact that there is a soft sofa in the kitchen means people can easily chat to the cooks whilst relaxing with a glass of wine. Meanwhile in the lounge you can get away from everyone if you want to read a book by the wood burner.

As the house has always been used for holidays rather than a house for living in full time, and therefore its been set up to cater for groups of people or equally just 2 people can feel at home.

Breeze to organise, absolute pleasure to stay

Our group of 10 friends in our 20s and 30s and 2 dogs met for a reunion at Halfway and from start to finish the whole experience was a treat. Jason, Jayne and the whole family were a pleasure to deal with; really helpful and responsive and when we got there we were delighted to discover that the photos, while lovely, really don't do the place justice. The surrounding area was amazing for walking and exploring right from the house and the cottage itself is really well furnished and stocked with supplies to make for a very cosy stay; the kitchen especially impressive managing to very comfortably host and facilitate catering for our large group and plenty of bathrooms too! I would absolutely recommend Halfway to others, and indeed have; we'll certainly be back if they'll have us!

A truly excellent holiday experience. The owners are a lovely family and it feels like you are their guest at the cottage. The cottage is finished to a very high standard which is uncommon to find in a holiday let. The property was well prepared and it is easy to get to and a forest trail runs just outside the gate. The caves / dinosaur park, steam railway, and coalmine are all good outings for the kids. A supermarket is 10mins drive away and the nearest town has a good tea house. I would thoroughly recommend this property for a top class experience which is very good value.

Great Weekend

We had a great weekend stay with a group of friends (4 couples) in the cottage.
The cottage interior is excellent and finished to a very high standard, especially my favourites are the log fire and the fabulous open plan kitchen - dinning room that really makes the atmosphere.
You are only a couple of miles from the town that has a good selection of pubs for eating and drinking and all the necessary convenience shops.
The scenery if fantastic and if you enjoy walking, it is a really good base for exploring the brecon beacons as we did. There is a stream running through the grounds, but i would only recommend paddling your toes in summer!
All in all we had a great weekend and i would recommend it for groups of friends and families.

We had a fantastic weekend break in this lovely cottage. It was extremely spacious, comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. The kitchen was wonderfully equipped, nothing had been forgotten, I wish I had it in my house. There are triple folding doors in the dining room that lead to the patio and it was so relaxing to sit and listen to the stream that runs through the garden.
The forest is right on the doorstep. We had some great walks and the forest trails are wonderful for cycling.
Llandovery is a lovely village and has some very interesting craft shops. There are lots of stores with many selling great tasting home made produce and if you want to eat out, the Indian restaurant is very good and well worth a visit.
This is an excellent cottage, in a wonderful location, with lots of attractions and amenities in the area. I have had no hesitation in recommending it to family and friends and will certainly be visiting again.

We are on the door step of Crychan forest and so it is possible to walk straight to the forest for many interesting and attractive walks. This forest also has mountain biking and horse riding routes marked up. It is also a good place for bird watching. If you walk opposite the cottage and up the footpaths you reach the Brecon Beacons National Park a 2 hour hike will get you to the reservoir .
