Bear Hollow in Franconia is a fantastic getaway for every season. This log home sits on a private drive that allows for year round enjoyment.
Our White Mountain location provides access to all area attractions including Cannon Mountain and Franconia Notch State Park.
Wonderfully appointed, Bear Hollow is a clean comfortable, and relaxing log home. Off the private road you will pull into a driveway with ample parking. The outside of the home features a covered front porch perfect for early morning coffee and a large back deck that affords views of the surrounding woodlands including a view of Sugar Hill.
It is our goal to ensure that each guest enjoys all the area has to offer and we can be a resource for your trip to this region.
Franconia, situated along the border of the White Mountain National Forest, is home to some of the most bountiful, breathtaking, awe-inspiring natural views around. Located off Route 116 on Easton Road, 'Bear Hollow' located on Coventry Ridge Road is seated practically a stones throw from literally hundreds of popular four-season destinations.
Franconia Notch is home to the iconic Old Man of the Mountains which fell in 2003. The Flume and the Basin feature a few of over 100 waterfalls in the White Mountain region and the Appalachian Trail passes through the Notch. For the ardent skiers, there are three mountains all within one-half hour of each other: Cannon, Loon, and Bretton Woods each with impressive mountain range views.
Whether its hiking, rock climbing, biking , boating, golfing, skiing, tennis or any other number of physical activities, the close proximity to all the natural wonders makes the White Mountains an outdoor enthusiasts’ dream come true.
For those that don’t lead such physically active lifestyles there are plenty of roadside views and other activities to take in. Who wouldn’t enjoy the views along the National Scenic Byway or the Northern and Southern Loop in the comfort of their own car at their own pace. The cultural events are as varied as they are plentiful. Looking off Bear Hollow's back deck one can see the Frost Place Barn. (Former home of famed poet Robert Frost)
We hope you enjoy the interior of the home, with several antiques and items from the local area as well as the abundance of wildlife art painted by the owner as well as a collection of art that reflects the natural beauty of the area. We find the natural log and beam interior to be a cozy retreat for an escape above the Notch.
Outdoor enthusiast, frequent VRBOer user (when we travel) and willing to help assure you enjoy your stay.

My husband and 2 teenage daughters spent almost a week at this beautiful cabin in early June. The cabin looks just like the pictures and was perfect for our family. It rained about every other day so on those days we went sightseeing and explored Franconia and other neighboring cities; Sugar Hill, Littleton & Bethlehem. We usually found our way back to the cabin by mid-afternoon to read, play games or take a nap. On the days the sun came out we hit the trails and went hiking. Our favorite hike was the Cascade Trail which included part of the Appalachian trail to Lonesome Lake & the AMC hut. We love to cook so it was wonderful to a food store just down the road and to also have a kitchen well-stocked with pots & pans, utensils, serving dishes & spices. We would love to come back to northern NH again and hope the cabin will be available for our next visit.
My wife and I stayed here for our 25th wedding anniversary. The house was everything advertised. It had everything you would need to feed and house a large group of people. It stayed warm and comfortable through our wintry stay which inclueded a snow storm. The house is very close to good dining at Franconia Inn and the Horse and Hound Inn. It's also only 20 minutes from Cannon ski lodge, but you don't have to deal with the ski bums and traffic. We made trips each day to various locations such as Conway and Mt Washington. We enjoyed our stay and will come back again.
Our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bear Hollow. The owners were excellent in preparing us for our visit. We had numerous phone conversations and so were confident that we were in good hands. They even helped us plan our visit by providing a list of favorite snowshoe hikes in the area. The house is an easy drive from Boston, being right off Rt. 93.The location is perfect if you are looking for proximity to nearby hikes or ski resorts (we visited Loon Mtn for snow tubing and Cannon Mtn). The house itself is well appointed and comfortable and easily accomodated our group of 6 adults. The kitchen is nicely stocked with tools and appliances for cooking up delicious meals. Everything there is kept clean and linens and towels were provided. This house is a great find and you are likely to enjoy your stay, whether it be for the beautiful local surroundings or just sitting and staying warm by the fireplace.
My family and I recently spent a long weekend at Bear Hollow. The home is lovely with an amazing deck! Owner was easy to work with and very attentive to our needs. What a great place to unwind! The location is perfect, only minutes from a major highway, yet very private. Highly recommended.
