Newly built (2009) modern 2 bedroom apartment to sleep 6 in Calabria Southern Italy between Belvedere Marattimo and Diamante. 88 sq.m. of private garden and patio/BBQ area and shared pool during the summer months. Secure location with private electronic access on the edge of the Pollino National Park combing a rural setting with stunning sea views of the Tyrrhenian Sea coast and Diamante. With private parking the apartment is located off of the SS18 coastal highway and within easy access of the A3 motorway. Belvedere is living testament to the numerous cultures and civilisations who have traversed the Calabrian coast line for centuries. Embracing Greek, Roman, Arab, Medieval and Baroque architectural styles, the streets of Belvedere are a legacy of the wealthy patrons who controlled this town from its earliest days as a Sybarite colony, to Norman, and Roman times.
Pollino National Park: The Pollino National Park is the place for a walking holiday. Serra Dolcedorme itself, at 2000m, is the prime destination for many, although there are many mountain ranges which are just as beautiful and challenging. Amongst them are the Pollino, Serra delle Ciavole, Serra di Crispo, where the Palebark Pine still climbs the rocky highest tops of this mountain of breathtaking beauty.
The Park is also the ideal location for historical, cultural and gastronomic holidays, where you can immerse yourself in the local culture, visiting archaeological, religious and historical sites and discovering local traditions and typical food. Healthy and natural food grown from our farmers in an oasis of water and green land that helps to give the Pollino National Park some of the very best places to eat in South Italy.
The apartment: A modern apartment in a rural setting with stunning sea views, and on the edge of the Pollino National Park.
2 Bedrooms, sleeps 6, 1 Bathroom, air-conditioning/heater, private garden, in Calabria Southern Italy.

Access to the beach is across the road and under the railway through one of the access tunnels. A bigger supermarket is 5 minutes away by car towards Belvedere pass the right-hand turn off for the town the road curves to the left and the supermarket complex (good butchery, bakery, take-away lasagne/pizza/chicken/etc. & 5 litre bottle of local wine 9 Euros) with other (clothes and shoe) shops is approx 200 yards on the left.
Restaurants: The restaurant la Botte dei Sapori is 5 minutes walk away towards Belvedere on the same side of the main road (SS18) as the apartment above a cheese shop (black & white cow next to the road). The restaurant Bar Tavola is 5 minutes walk away towards Diamante on the same side of the main road as the apartment next to a small garage, good pizzas!
Hi Jayne & Barry,
Just a note to thank you both very much for the holiday rental of your apartment in Belvedere. Your holiday home is the best we have ever stayed in. We couldn't believe how well equipped and comfortable you have made the apartment.
We had a fantastic holiday. The coast line in the area is beautiful, the food was amazing, the people are lovely and the weather was fab. The two weeks that we stayed happened to be quite mild for that time of year, which suited us perfectly with the kids.
Our children had a blast. We met up of course with our Italian/ Irish friends from home so the kids had great company. They loved the pool and the complex was quiet so we felt quite relaxed in giving them a bit of freedom. We met some other really nice families in the complex, a German family and an English family, who own a first floor apartment. The was also a number of Italian families staying.
It really is a little piece of paradise and we really appreciated staying somewhere so comfortable with the children. Thank you so much.
I will write and post a review for you on the Home Away website.
Hopefully we will get to stay in your apartment again soon. We have certainly recommended it to our friends.
Grandi aspettative, collaborazione inefficiente!
The apartment is situated in Calabria between 2 small towns of Belvedere Marittimo and Diamante with lovely beaches and local shops, supermarket, markets, mountains, and national parks all within easy reach.
Calabria is a hauntingly beautiful region that is just now getting discovered by tourists.
The four National parks of Calabria and the protected areas around them are Pollino, Sila, Serre and Aspromonte.
The Pollino National Park is the biggest natural park in Italy, over more than 200.000 square kilometres in areas of absolute wilderness and cultural landscapes in southern Italy.
Unlike other holiday destinations where tourism dominates, this is the ideal location for a break, whether you’re looking for a brisk walk on the highest tops of South Italy, where the view extends to two seas (Ionian and Tyrrhenian), demanding trekking, daredevil rafting rides in canyons and down mountain rivers, or just a relaxing break in a natural unspoilt countryside.

Ski: Experience a piece of paradise in Italy through a ski adventure in Calabria. This popular destination for ski lovers everywhere bustles with activity during wintertime. Many villages within Sila, one of Calabria’s mountainous plateaus, transform into ski resorts. One of them is Camigliatello, one of the major tourist centers in Sila known for the wide array of winter sports.
Among the other ski resorts in Calabria people flock to is Gambarie, a small but wonderful place located in Aspromonte. Around 2,198 feet of wonderful vertical descent is enough to lure those showing a newfound interest in skiing, or have intermediate skills already.
A more sophisticated ski resort is Courmayeur, which offers plenty of downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, cable cars, chairlifts and helicopters – the perks! The place is frequented for summer and winter skiing.
Beginning ski enthusiasts may be better off trying baby slopes first, though.
