This beautiful home located in the Sylvan Lake area sits on twenty wildlife-filled acres in the middle of Noble County Indiana. Enjoy your days with relaxing walks on our many trails. We have a beautiful and spacious outdoor porch that your family can enjoy. Our home is perfect for anyone who needs privacy and quiet time to reconnect with those things that are most important in life. We have hosted business and church retreats, family reunions, and romantic getaways.
We have been married for sixteen years. Since high school, we dreamed of owning our own home. That dream became a reality in 1998. We have entered a stage in our life in which we want to give back. We have been praying that we can use this home for a great purpose. It is our hope that this home will not only be rented by people who need to 'get away from it all', but also for men's and women's spiritual retreats. This home is perfect for that! We are now working in the mission field and we now want to share our home for others to enjoy!
Adam Mains purchased this house in 1998
Our family has lived in Noble County since the 1840's. It is only natural for us to be in the middle of it!
We have owned this 'Fortress of Solitude' for fourteen years. God has really blessed us with a place where one can enjoy the majesty of nature. This home is centrally located to many wonderful attractions. Each Memorial and Labor day, music lovers come from all over to the Tri-State Bluegrass Festival. In October, the cool autumn weather brings us the Kendallville Apple Festival. This highly celebrated event is a draw for thousands of people who are seeking delicious treats and handmade crafts. Also, a short ten minute drive will put you in the heart of Amish country. Shipshewana is not too far away (25 miles). This mecca for Amish culture enthusiast is home to one of Indiana's largest flea markets, and many wonderful restaurants. But most importantly, it is our desire to provide you with a home that will bring you a time of joy and peace!
My sisters and our families (which include 7 children ranging from 1-9 years old) just returned from a weekend stay, and we loved this house! Super spacious, lots of light, and adequately baby-proofed for roaming toddlers (they even had baby gates at the tops of both stairs). Other kid friendly amenities included a stocked game/toy closet, toys for the outdoor sandpit, plenty of frogs to watch from the pond by the front porch, and (saving the best for last) a hidden kid cave! (I.e., there's a little crawl area under the stairs with a bean bag chair for the kids to hang out in, there was always at least one kid camped out in their "clubhouse"!) We also hiked the various trails on the property and roasted marshmallows in the fire pit at night. There's a grocery store 6 minutes away, so very convenient for forgotten items. Would definitely recommend again!
This was a very nice place to get away. A very clean and modern home with plenty of beds and space to spread out. I would definitely recommend this home.
My wife and I had such a wonderful time with 10 of our friends. The house has so much room and at night it was great to sit around the fire pit and chat. We absolutely love the property that makes you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but the stores are only 5 minutes away. Owners are wonderful and just a phone call away if you ever need anything. We cannot wait to go back next year for our annual get-together.
We have spent 4th of July 2014 at this beautiful house. We all (12 people) wanted to go away from the bustle and hustle of a big city and could not have picked a better house for doing just that. The house is very secluded and private, full of charm, very comfortable and clean. The outdoor porch is amazing, we spent a lot of time just hanging out there. In the evening, every single day, we gathered around the bonfire and loved it. We also have ventured into the Amish Country which is just 20 minutes away. If you looking for peace, quiet and tranquility, you WANT THIS HOUSE! Amy and Adam, thank you!
We met some friends and their children here for a reunion - what a great time! Plenty of room for the kids to play, kitchen/dining space perfect for meals with our group. Had a question about the fridge and we were responded to very promptly. Kids loved the hike in the woods and smores around the fire at night. We also visited Bixler Lake Park in Kendallville, where the kids enjoyed the playgrounds and walking by the lake. Hope to visit here again in the future!
We really enjoyed our stay in this private home. The house is away from the street and you feel really secluded. The outdoor area is great and where we spent most of our time. The outdoor deck is large with a great little pond, a great yard for games, and a bonfire area. The house is updated and suits larger groups. Owner is great to work with and responds quickly to questions or concerns. Would definitely recommend it to friends.
