Strongly recommend the apartment to anyone

  • 5 of 5

The location of the apartment is centered in old town of Lisbon. Shops restaurants and nite life abound; a very safe area at any time of the day or night. The apartment was very clean and well furnished for living and cooking. We were very happy staying there and felt we made the right decision not staying at a hotel. There were four of us and we felt we had lots of room. I would recommend the apartment to any one who wanted to stay in the Bairro Alto part of Lisbon and really feel the life of the city.

NOT so Perfect

  • 2 of 5

Miguel met us at the apartment. He was very polite and gave us a nice orientation to the area. The location is in Bairro Alto, the heart of the action, and is good for getting around. There was no 'welcome basket' as advertised. The walls reek of old, stale cigarette smoke. The rug in the dining room was filthy and stained, and the chair in the living room, temporarily covered because it was defaced with marking pen from a previous tenant, was never replaced and cleaned during our stay as promised by Miguel. After buying groceries and frozen food for cooking, the freezer would not work at all, and when I called Miguel, he said (although he is the "manager" of this property") that he "just learned from the owner" that the freezer had stopped working over a week ago and it would not be able to be replaced until after we had departed. We should have been informed of this outage prior to checking in. There was never any offer of compensation or solution to the problem. I reported a bank of under-counter lights out and Miguel stated an electrician would be needed..we never saw one during our stay. The windows are great and shut out the noise (that occurs until 4 a.m.) and smoke from shops downstairs. But it then gets hot in the apartment. We would recommend this apartment cautiously to anyone willing to smell old stale smoke and that enjoys late-night noise. Not good for kids. There needs to be better communication between owner and manager, and quality control on the cleaning team.

Owner's Response: Dear Michael, as I had the opportunity to write to you before, I am extremely sorry that you had such an unpleasant stay at my apartment. I definitely should have warned you before your arrival about the freezer not working but, because I had to buy a new refrigerator/freezer, it actually took longer than I wish to fix the problem. The apartment now has a new fridge/freezer. I’m extremely sorry about this and I recently offered to somehow compensate you but unfortunately got no answer. Regarding the cleaning, I regularly leave questionnaires for guests to answer and the cleaning item has always gotten full score as this is something that I particularly find crucial. During the lower occupancy months (usually November or January) I take the opportunity to do the deeper maintenance jobs such as painting, electrical renewals, professional cleaning of the larger items in the apartment, etc. so that the apartment and its items never wear out. The apartment is completely non-smoking as it is clearly stated and the shop downstairs is a real-estate shop (as it is visible on Google maps) so the smell of old stale smoke should be improbable. Because there were guests leaving on the same date of the arrival and the plane was expected to land in quite early in the day, Miguel, the property manager, made a huge effort to have the apartment ready by 11:00, much earlier than the standard check-in time: 16:00. He was not able to have the welcome basket ready on time for the check-in but this was something completely exceptional. The apartment is very centrally located and this area (Bairro Alto/Chiado) tends to be quite busy. The apartment does not have any bar nearby but on Fridays and Saturdays because the bars inside Bairro Alto are open until 2 am there is some additional noise at night. The windows facing the main street keep the noise out and you can open the windows facing the back (from where you don’t get any noise). For the 5 years I have rented the apartment the overall feedback is very positive and I have had a regular quite high occupancy rate, with many returning guests, including families, as well as many people that had gotten good references from previous guests. Nevertheless, every suggestion is welcome and a good chance to continuously improve the apartment. Many thanks!

Lovely apartment

  • 5 of 5

My daughter, 16month old grandson and myself stayed at Claudia's lovely spacious apartment. Miguel was there to meet me when I arrived he explained how everything worked and gave us lots of local information, it so much nicer to have someone there than going to collect your keys from an office. Miguel said call him any time if we had a problem we didn't but it was reassuring to know we could call. I had requested a high chair and a cot and for my grandson and it was all there and they were in good condition. The apartment was perfect for us in every way, it is very well equipped TV Wifi even in the kitchen are the basics like coffee/ tea/ oil/pasta etc.(the beds are comfortable too) Centrally located near the metro, bus and the 28 tram and tourist attractions. The local shops are very good in particular the flower, wine, butcher and vegetable shops. Many excellent restaurants are near by and across the street is a lovely cafe to have breakfast.

I would defiantly want to go back and stay in this lovely apartment again.

Beautiful apartment and wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was wonderful and we really enjoyed our stay here. Eveything was very clean and modern, with little extras such as tea/coffee/sugar as well as the basics to cook (oil/salt/pasta) and a wondeful welcome basket with fresh fruit, bread, muffins and water. Miguel was very helpful in explaining everything and giving us tips for the area as well as even arranging the taxi back to the airpor for our return. The place is very nicely decorated, making us feel very at home. We came with our two children aged 4 and 6, and they also loved the place. We enjoyed having two separate bedrooms as well as a large living area, often getting take away dinners after a full day of sightseeing. There is a great pastery shop across the street as well as a small supemarket.

We didn't manage to eact at the Pharmacy restaurant (make reservations!) but the Noobia cafe was very nice with great views of the river and even a small play area for the kids (very welcome as we sipped our mojitos and watched the sunset!).

We had to get used to the noise level as we live in a very quiet suburb, but it was great being in the city center and the kids loved watching tha trams go by. The double panelled windows definitely keep out most of the noise so we were fine at night.

I can only highly recommend this place!

Stunning apartment in great location

  • 5 of 5

This roomy apartment was well located in the Bairro Alto literally 2 minutes walk from dozens of really nice restaurants and just 5 minutes walk from Chiado area. There were several panaterias within 50m, an excellent one directly opposite. We took the famous No. 28 Tram many times to access the rest of the city and there is a stop at the door. The apartment was beautifully fitted out and had everything we required. It was just as represented in the website photos - quite roomy, two nice bathrooms and bathrooms. We spent many moments on the balcony watching the world go by. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to my family or friends.

Great apartment - ideal location for visiting Lisbon

  • 5 of 5

We were really looking forward to visiting Lisbon, enjoying the Baixa neighbourhood and having a spacious, functional apartment - this one did not disappoint! It location is close to highlights, shops, restaurants and right on Tram 28 line. A bit busy and noisy - especially on Saturday night - but closing the windows addressed this issue. Very well equipped - one of the most complete apartments ever rented. Only a few steps away from Praca Luis Camoes where a free walking tour starts every day at 10h00 or 16h30: it is excellent - don't miss it! Miguel was extremely helpful and suggested restaurants and activities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - in large part thanks to having this fine apartment.
