We are a Husband & Wife who love to build homes in rare locations. We are both USCG Master Captians and so enjoy Boating in the surrounding waters. We have made SW Florida home for some 16 years now. We built this home soon after we found this beautiful island. We think it is a rare diamond treasure that very few people ever find. We have built many homes ourselves but this is our Pride & Joy! It is hard to believe one can be so remote and relaxed yet still so close to the shopping, movies and restaurants we all want to find on occasion. We love the water Play Ground of this area and the endless days of perfect warm tropical weather.
Randy Crosby purchased this house in 2006
You will NOT find another Home for rent like this on any other Island or location in SW Florida. If you love Nature, love Privacy, love Boating, love Fishing and love the BEACH~ You MUST see this place!!!
We are available to provide Pick Up & Delivery to & From the Fort Myers Airport And/ Or to provide Water Taxi Service for you To & From the Pine Island Mainland for an additional Charge. Provisioning Service is also available from the local Grocery Store on Pine Island. We do all we can to help your stay be the most amazing vacation you have ever had.
This house is nestled in paradise for beach lovers. The owners of the property Randy and Tina, were both two of the nicest people. Randy served as our taxi to and from the airport, as well as over to the island via boat. My wife, children, and I loved to go exploring in the furnished kayaks and gas powered golf cart.
Randy was always a phone call away if we ever needed anything. We ran low mid-week on groceries, and called in an order to Publix. Randy picked up the groceries and delivered them to the house for us.
If you enjoy exploring nature, quite beaches (very few people and no commercialized development), fishing, shelling, relaxing, and being a beach bum, then plan a vacation at the Sandy Seagull Hideaway.
We spent an unforgettable week in this home on secluded Cayo Costa Island. The owners, Randy and Tina, are so warm, friendly, and welcoming that we felt so comfortable staying in such a remote place. They made the transition from car to boat to house so easy. The house is just beautiful, and it is evident that Randy and Tina have worked very hard to make it that way. Everything was very clean and we had everything we needed. We actually hardly even wore clothing since bathing suits are really all you need...no getting all dressed up to go out to dinner! We loved having coffee every morning on the rooftop deck and also watching beautiful sunsets from there and at the beach. We enjoyed our evenings playing games on the screened-in porch. We had no issues with there not being enough solar power or hot water. It was just like being at home. We loved the master bedroom with the large window, which gave a nice breeze at night and sunlight in the mornings. The outdoor shower was a highlight as it made it easy to come back from the beach and shower before settling down for the evening. The golf cart was also great. We have been on numerous beach vacations and having the golf cart made things so easy. We just left everything on the cart, and after some sunscreen, took off each morning right to our own private beach. We only saw maybe 10 people on the beach with us our entire week. We found huge shells of every kind and enjoyed diving for sand-dollars which we pulled up in handfuls. Dolphins and manatees swam by frequently. We ventured out on the kayaks two different days and really enjoyed ourselves. There was plenty to keep the kids busy with swimming, shelling, sandcastles, looking for crabs, catching fish with a net in the lagoon, hikes, trips for ice cream at the park store, relaxing in the hot tub, fishing, playing pool...There are no crowds, lines, or impatient kids. It really feels like you are "stranded" in paradise with all the amenities. It doesn't get much better than this...the only problem is I don't think any future vacation we take will even compare. Thank you Randy and Tina for offering your home and making us feel so welcome!
Our family had such a wonderful, relaxing time at the Sandy Seagull Hideaway. Hideaway is a perfect name for the house as you feel like you are so secluded! The island is so peaceful and beautiful with white, soft sand beaches, incredible shelling. Very peaceful even though this was spring break week. There were so few people on the beach. Just the way we like it. The house itself was VERY clean and has everything you could need for island living for a week. Even all the "little details". We have stayed in many rentals at the beach before and have always had to bring/buy things like dish detergent, hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. The owners provide all of these items so you can just concentrate on bringing all of your food. I really appreciated this. The owners were so hospitable and made our boat trip to and from the island smooth. Even when we had a little snafu with our car that was parked at a dock off the island (the anti theft alarm kept going off) the owner (who was out of town) helped us find another ride off the island to disable the alarm and resolve the situation. Our teens loved the beach, kayaking in the bay, and the fishing. They kept themselves busy cruising around the island in the golf cart and catching bait fish in the bay, and riding up to the Park area. Hubby loved the fishing. His words " the fishing is tremendous!" I personally loved my daily nap in the hammock. We spotted dolphins , caught sharks, and even saw an armadillo during our stay. Some things to think of if you plan to come: Bring your own fishing equipment. There are some poles. For technology obsessed teens: the wifi hot spot worked pretty good (We have Verizon). But amazingly they spent little time on their devices. This island is truly a little slice of heaven. We are planning to return again!
My family and I spent a week at the Sandy Seagull Hideaway and just thought it was amazing, going home was so hard. The process went smoothly and Randy was very east to work with and helpful with all the information that we needed to make the trip, travel and stay go smoothly. We had Randy pick us up at the airport, 2 adults and 3 children. We made our way to the local WinnDixie to pick up our food order that we had placed in advance which was very convenient. Then we took the boat ride over to the island. The home was amazing and I could not have asked for a more beautiful location. It was quiet and relaxing. The home was very clean and had solar power which provided plenty of energy for our stay. The best part of the trip was the beach. The miles of white sandy beaches full of thousands of shells and fun finds for the children. My kids loved to spend hours picking up shells and building sculptures in the sand. We cant wait to go again and recommend this trip to all of those people who are looking for a relaxing getaway from reality :-)
We spent a week at the Sandy Seagull and loved every minute. The home has all of the amenities you could want, very clean and spacious, with a full kitchen, comfortable beds, screened porches and roof top deck with a view. We were surprised that a home in such a remote location could be so well equipped. The location was a perfect getaway from the demands of work. We took our own boat thinking we would be busy fishing and boating but the island life was so peaceful we didn't want to leave to go any where. The owners were great and we look forward to returning to their beautiful home next year.
Our vacation began with the owner picking us up at airport & transporting us to supermarket. We loaded his boat with assorted fly fishing gear, 2 cs wine, 1/2 cs beer, our luggage, and a week's worth of food. Our menu was carefully planned out for the week and we purchased properly. Barely any food left on our departure. Owner(s) are both gracious, and took us from the dock to the house. There, he showed us the details of the house, the amenities, and gave me a brief on how a house, powered only by solar, works. The house is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. It has all of the creature comforts that you can imagine. And, it was clean beyond clean. We settled in, went to the beach and had a wonderful sunset. In fact, we had 7 wonderful sunsets, enjoyed on the beach and on the roof top deck. We used the kayaks for fishing and I hired a guide for a day on a flats boat. "Native Attitude Fishing Charters". We caught plenty, ( catch and released) and we had the best days on the water. Small tarpon, barracuda, snook, sea trout, lady fish, bonnet-head and bull sharks. Coming back next year! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your piece of paradise.
The 'Sandy Seagull Hideaway' , beach house is an excellent spot to walk the beach, collect shells, sightseeing by golf cart or walking the trails of the State Park only a short distance north on the Island. We have a pool table and solar hot tub for visitors to enjoy. Come with your own boat and enjoy the water playground of the Gulf and Barrier Islands that surround this one of a kind vacation home. This home is Solar Powered and completely Off Grid yet it has abundant Solar Hot water, Satellite TV, is clean and comfortable and fully accommodated for your convenience.
*** Accessible By Boat ONLY, Owner is a USCG Master Captain and is available for transporting you to & from the island. Water Taxi or Own Boat are other options. Airport pick up and grocery store stop can also be arranged with owner.
