I was born in Confluence and grew up kayaking the rivers and playing in the mountains. After getting married, my husband and I settled in Confluence and continued to enjoy the outdoors, started a business and raised 2 sons here. In 2010 we moved to nearby Morgantown, WV but didn't want to part with our home, so we started a vacation rental. The best part about owning vacation rental homes is that it allows us to share the wonders of the Laurel Highlands with others.
Kara Weld purchased this house in 2012
The Riverhouse has an unbeatable location and the perfect layout for a multi generational family, multiple families or large groups of friends. Step out the front door to the Yough River, hop on your bike and access the GAP trail or hike in the 50 acres of woods behind the house. The house is spacious, well appointed and clean. The large yard, picnic space and river side fire ring area are meant for family and friend quality time. Come to the mountains to relax and enjoy.
The Riverhouse has a fantastic, spacious downstairs. The stone fireplace in the living room is beautiful, there are hardwood floors in the drawing room and plenty of room and seating for everyone to be comfortable. The view of the river and the amazing Oak tree from the front porch is outstanding. One step out of the car from a long drive and instantly you are on vacation!
Don't forget the convenience to town, the quiet, the surrounding woods, strolling down to Lucky Dog Cafe for lunch or dinner, drinking coffee while reading the paper on the porch, basically no traffic on our one lane road, the eagles, heron and osprey, the fishing and the proximity to the bike trail, oh and the river!
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Yough Riverhouse. We had 10 family members and the house was more than comfy for us all. The location was perfect for all of our activities. We rode bikes, kayaked the river and fished. The campfire ring provided a great place to recall a lot of family stories and tons of laughter. Thanks for providing us with such a loverly home. We will be back!
The river house was perfect for our mid-winter family gathering. Our three families were comfortable and found plenty to do. Enough space for everyone to enjoy each other's company and not feel cramped. We prepared all of our meals at the house with ease, and everything was clean and easy to find. Favorite parts of the home would definitely be the gathering spots - Around the cozy fireplace in the family room, around the amazing dining room table with the infamous moose, and in the sitting area with the beautiful river views. The weather warmed up enough to allow some of us to enjoy the front deck and all of the views it offers. Walking to the downtown area was easy, even in snowy February. The driveway and roads were perfectly cleared to enable access to everything. We loved the charm of the quaint little town. With the closing of all the seasonal businesses and restaurants, we could still take in the sounds of the flowing river, access trails, and see beautiful sunsets. And if you like trains, there are great spots to get up close for awesome photo ops and to feel the rush of them passing by (even the teenagers loved this). We also really liked being able to have our pets with us - they loved our daily walks too! As far as owners and customer service goes, you won't find any better. Kara was so helpful and easy to work with. Very professional, quick to respond, and just plain nice. We would definitely recommend this property.
The Riverhouse exceeded our expectations. Very comfortable, well-appointed and spacious for our multi-generational family get-together. We took full advantage of the huge front porch with its view of the river (so close!) for morning coffee and evening drinks and then ended each night circled around the cozy fire ring. Location could not be better - very private, yet within walking distance to bike trail, river boating, fishing, town and just a short drive to all the other fun stuff to do in the Confluence area. Owner is very nice and easy to work with. A great vacation rental that feels like home!
Our family spent Christmas week here and it was great. Plenty of room downstairs for games, conversation and a Christmas tree (provided by the amazingly gracious owners). Close to hiking, skiing and snowboarding, as well as gentle hikes. Nice kitchen big enough for real cooking.
Owners were extremely easy and pleasant to deal with and property was great. Booking the rental was so easy and very prompt responses to our questions! Location is fantastic and there was tons of room for all of us...party of 5 adults and 3 kids coming from 3 different locations for a family getaway...we loved the space, the bike trail, and close proximity to ohiopyle and town. our favourite space was the large porch! thank you so much for an excellent stay and thanks so much for getting the a/c units in each of the bedrooms! we only wish we could've stayed longer!!!!! Thanks for a great stay and we look forward to renting from you again in the future!
