NEW YORK LOFT MEETS COTTAGE NESTLED IN CALIFORNIA REDWOODS

Occidental Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms [Sleeps 8]

This stunning blend of modern green design and repurposed 100 year redwood is the perfect base for all Sonoma county has to offer.

The original turn of century cabin was recently brought back to the bones and rebuilt to the highest standards using recycled and green building materials as well original redwood from the house and salvaged materials from a local historical hotel.

The result is a super comfortable New York loft meets cottage in woods that is perfect for couples, families or groups of friends to enjoy creating amazing dinners using local produce and wine in the spacious open chef's kitchen surrounded by 300ft redwood trees.

There are 4 artistically designed bedrooms each having their own unique feel and flavor and all accented with antique recovered stain glass windows from Europe. 2 of the bedrooms have full beds, 1 has a queen bed and the largest a king bed.

Wireless internet and a 60 inch television in the media area as well as a 42 inch television in the master bedroom are just a few of the amenities you will find along with a full size washer / dryer and a shower big enough for the whole family or friends.

The custom dining room table made for the house from a fallen old growth tree seats 8 comfortably and there are countless couches , comfy chairs and even an extra sleeping loft to curl up and read a book or have long talks.

There is a large wraparound deck accessed by one of 5 glass patio doors and a smaller deck that is the perfect perch to pick the yummy plums right off the tree.

I am a designer and writer living between San Francisco, Hawaii and Taos. I love animals and nature. I'm also a huge fan of mountain biking, snowboarding and yoga. We put lots of love and thought into the remodel of our home in Taos and feel deeply honored to get to share it with you. Looking forward to being in touch and getting to hear your story as well.

Warmly,

Justin

Nestled in towering redwoods of Camp Meeker, with wineries galore a short drive away, Occidental with great restaurants and artisan shops less than a few minutes drive, Freestone with the famous Wild flour bakery and the Osmosis Japanese Spa just a few minutes further down the road. Tomales Bay is a short drive as well for kayaking and fresh oysters.

Bodega Bay and Jenner are also quaint little towns worthy of exploration as well as the many State and county beaches near by and our favorite place for a picnic ' grove of the old tress ' also just a short drive way.

Bring your bike, the area is home to some of the most picturesque road biking in the state as well as plenty of great mountain biking trails. The chef's kitchen comes fully stocked and besides visiting the many wineries of the area we recommend stopping by Andy's produce stand or Whole Foods In Sebastopol for delicious local goodies. Also just a Short drive away is another Sonoma county favorite Kozlowski farms. Every Square inch of this tranquil retreat was designed with comfort and conservation in mind. We look forward to sharing it's beauty and serenity with you...

We had a wonderful stay in this unit for a dear friend's bridal shower. This truly is an incredible property and we had such a lovely and relaxing stay. All the amenities, equipment, and supplies were great (I especially love that there was a coffee grinder, as I had forgotten mine at home!). The house itself exudes a warmth that made the energy the whole weekend so peaceful. Communicating with Justin and Kathy was very easy and they were also very receptive to the feedback that we had. I will definitely plan to stay here again for another relaxing getaway. My only other suggestion would be to try to arrive before it gets dark, especially if you're like me and get lost easily!

Our wedding group loved the house and all the funky details inside.
What a great property. Thank you for spending the time to make it so cozy and funky.
Really it was fantastic!!! We would rent this again!!

My only suggestions to make it more comfortable (and these are me looking for things):
1) Mirrors in each bedroom!!
It's hard for us all to get ready for a wedding with the mirrors in only one of the bedrooms.
2) Open up that (locked) empty garage to alleviate the squeeze at the small driveway.
We had 5 cars and 1 or 2 of us had to park quite a ways away and walk in.
3) The master shower was very slow to drain which meant we we all getting showered in one bathroom.
That was tight! And not in a good way.
4) Electrical Cord / Lighting: I brought Christmas lights to help with the dark entry steps and parking area.
Searched all over for an electrical cord and couldn't find one.
5) Tea/Coffee - I know we should have brought some of our own, but we didn't.
Town is so far away to run in for a cup of Joe. A drawer of tea would have been fantastic.
6) Propane: We saw the BBQ on the deck, but didn't bring a tank. Could this be included?

Owner's Response: Thanks, Tara. Great to know that you liked the property and thanks for all the feedback and suggestions for things that we could provide to make our guests more comfortable. Much appreciated. We will definitely see what we can do. It was a pleasure hosting you and we'd love to have you back again soon.
just a few notes for next visit , Our parking is limited to 2 cars with additional parking at the bottom of the hill , we're in the process of converting the 1930's garage into one of 2 outdoor dining areas .
there is a motion detector light by the front door but sometimes the switch gets turned off , we'll label that .
great suggestion on the tea , we'll add that - There is a grocery store and a health food store Occidental ,less than 5 minutes away if you need anything additional. Sorry about the barbecue propane we'll get right on that and get a plumber to check the drain on the giant shower , thanks again for all the feedback it really helps us

This was a wonderful cabin. Just minutes away from occidental and its charming downtown area. Great fully stocked kitchen and shared spaces. Perfect for entertaining 10 girls or 4 couples. Property management is very responsive.

My group and I had a wonderful experience renting this home and all agreed the design, furnishings, and supplies were overwhelmingly great! It was just as beautiful as advertised and very clean. Not only was communication with the owners very easy beforehand, but it's clear a lot of thought and effort went into designing the home beautifully and stocking it full of the right necessities. The beds felt like high quality Tempurpedic mattresses complete with high quality linens; the bathrooms were absolutely gorgeous and well appointed as well. None of us could say enough fantastic things about this place. As other reviewers have mentioned, the final drive up the hill to reach the house feels a little daunting - but is really no problem once you've done it once. I would definitely recommend this property to family and friends!

Designer touches in a fantastic cabin retreat

A modern, cozy, and entirely unique place in what feels like a rustic campground on a hill. Owners clearly put a lot of thought into the design. Fun design touches everywhere, as you can see from the photos. It's like a boutique hotel in a house.

Great views of the forest from the deck. The drive up the hill is a little sketchy in the rain, but manageable. Our friends reported that one of the rooms can get a little noisy when it rains due to the water hitting the room's sunroof.
