Paphos Area:
Paphos found in the western part of the island is a charming town and is renown for it's many archaeological sites and picturesque fishing harbour and castle and is only 30 minutes from Paphos airport.
As a resort it combines luxury with old world charm. Despite the abundance of bars, shops and tavernas the traditional character has been preserved.
The town centre at Kitima is just up the hill and there are a many sights worth seeing including the covered market.
Paphos is ideally situated for those who wish to play a round of golf.
It is also a short drive to the mountains and Limasol.
Local Tombs of the Kings Area:
The Tomb of the Kings area includes a range of bars and restaurants which caters for all tastes including upmarket Chinese and Italian restaurants.
Bus stops are conveniently placed for frequent buses along Tomb of the Kings Road which will take you to Paphos harbour, market or out to Coral Bay where you will find an abundance of water sports.
Places To Visit:
Akamas Nature Reserve - Leave your car or take the bus to the end of the line. Walk through the Akavas Gorge or visit Lara Bay and watch the turtles hatch. This is a protected area so there are no buildings here. Enjoy the breathtaking limestone cliffs that slope gently into the sea and swim into the caves. Polis & Latchi - Drive to the furthest West tip of Paphos and hike around the Aphrodite trail. Have a picnic lunch on the beach.
Ski:
Troodos Mountains - skiing and walking. During January and February there is typically enough snow on the mountains of Cyprus to enable downhill skiing and snowboarding. Within walking distance, there is an adventure shop that can organise such trips. Equipment (ski & snowboard) can be hired at the bottom of the slopes. It takes one hour and a half to drive to the Troodos Mountains. On the way, stop off at Platres and enjoy fresh fish from one of the trout farms there. In the summer, experience energetic hikes in cool mountain air. Ski in the morning & scuba in the afternoon!
Golf:
Paphos is the golf resort of the island, with three courses and more under construction. The wonderful Aphrodite Hills is East of Paphos, it’s a champion standard course being par 70/71 and 6232 metres, complete with excellent on site facilities and spa for those who don’t play golf! Secret Valley currently and 18 hole course again East of Paphos, panoramic views and is par 72 and 6120 metres, it is currently being extended to a 36 hole course! Tsada, this is 20 mins away an elevated position 550 metres above sea level ensures cool breezes in the summer, its again par 72 and 6060 metres, it has been redesigned and constructed in summer 2007.
