Lecce Vacation Rental apartment: Lecce

I am a middle-aged Australian woman travelling alone and I recently spent 2 months in this lovely self-contained flat which is situated a comfortable bike-ride from the centre of Lecce. The description given was accurate but I felt it did not really do justice to the setting of the flat – in a truly magnificent 18th century mansion with a huge internal courtyard-garden which I was free to use. I spent a great deal of time sitting in a sunny spot in the garden with bouganvillea and honeysuckle cascading down the ancient stone walls, the only sound being the bees and the birds! Not to mention my lunches on the stone table in a sheltered corner with sunlight filtering through the leaves of an old lemon tree! However I feel that what really made my stay exceptional, apart from the clean, comfortable, well-equipped accommodation, was the kindness of the owner and his charming English wife. They had a wealth of knowledge to share about local history, things to do, places to eat and walks to go on, and they went out of their way to ensure that my stay was enjoyable. I would thoroughly recommend this flat as a base for anyone wanting to discover the beaches, food, wine and local culture of the area.
