Walking distance to everything in the Vancouver core
Myself and 2 friends spent 4 nights in this Yaletown condo. The location was excellent, close to good restaurants, the sea wall and public transportation. We had a rental car which was not needed and never used. The parking spot in garage was nice to have. The one big disappointment were the sleeping arrangements. Listing states sleeps 2-4, however there is only 1 bed. We assumed a pull out couch was available as "convertible bed" is listed. But no, the only other option is an air mattress (only half full by morning) on the living room floor. We felt the listing was misleading in this respect. Would have rental elsewhere had we known.
Again, good option for 1 person or 1 couple, otherwise additional beds are needed.
From being met at the condo lobby to leaving our stay was a great experience and all that we had imagined. The building and apartment were as pictured, clean, well maintained and a perfect Yaletown location. The condo had everything we needed. Our host and her family were very pleasant and helpful. We didn't eat out very much as we were visiting our son and his young family, however, we did take out from Cactus Club and pizza from Panango which we enjoyed. Most everything is in walking distance plus the Canada Line/Skytrain and water taxis were very close so we didn't need to rent a car. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip.
My wife & I stayed at Andrea's condo from September 5th until September 10th. The condo is in a high rise in a very safe and desirable area of Yaletown and is on the 5th floor overlooking a busy street - Pacific Boulevard. The windows look out onto the streets, not the bay. The location was great. Easy walking to top restaurants, grocery stores, bars, and the SkyTrain.
I experienced some difficulties in finalizing the rental arrangements, as Andrea was often slow in replying to my Emails. She later explained that she lived and worked in Whistler, and rented the condo as an investment. There was some misunderstanding on the daily rental price, as the HomeAway listed price differed from what I was quoted. She explained that she had some seasonal pricing, although this was not spelled out in the listing.
The condo was as advertised, but very minimal in furnishings. Some of the living room furniture was old and showed wear signs. The kitchen was satisfactory, but we did not use it for meals other than breakfast, so we didn't really need a lot.
The condo does not have air conditioning, as I am sure most of the condos in the area do not have. At a minimum, an owner should provide a floor/table fan, for those days that are hot. We experienced several days in the mid to high 80s with no option but to leave the windows open to try to get some breeze. That meant that we had to listen to the car & truck noise from Pacific Blvd., all night. It would seem a very small expense to purchase 1 or 2 fans for the condo.
Also, an option to have 2 keys and 2 security fobs, should specifically be offered. The renter should not have to inquire about something as basic as this.
Andrea's relative met us as planned and was helpful in getting settled.
I could not recommend this condo with these deficiencies, as there are numerous other condos, in the same area.
This is a nice, clean bright unit, in a prime Yaletown/harbor location. Unfortunately the unit comes with a soft/noisy mattress, and several inconveniences. You book with the owner on VRBO email and then do keys/security deposit with owner's relative, who is local. Site lists daily rate and cleaning fee for 1 bedroom unit that sleeps 2-4 people (additional guests on provided inflatable mattress.) Owner charges extra for occupancy by more than 2 people, per person, PER NIGHT which is not clearly stated on rate sheet. Owner asked to cancel reservation when we asked about extra charges not listed on site. All we needed was clarification/itemization and fair advertising. Owner later offered to refund a minimal amount per night for pricing confusion but never did. Even the relative providing the keys was unaware of extra charges for 2+ occupancy, especially on a per night basis! Despite telling the owner we were bringing bikes and this was our first trip to BC, we received no additional information/instructions.
BE AWARE you need to advocate for yourself:
**A locked bike room is available in the building, but was not offered to us. We locked bikes in front of our car in the double gated garage, causing car to extend beyond spot but seemed otherwise ok
**Request itemization of charges for entire stay before you pay a deposit
**Non-Canadians pay 3% extra to cover all exchange fees
**Non-Canadians will pay roaming fees when using cellphones to arrange key/security deposit exchange at both check in and check out. There is a phone in the unit, but you'll need to be there to use it.
**Receipt for security deposit is not provided for cash, so we recommend you pay by check
**Relative could not make key/security exchange appointment so mailed us voided security check later
**No advance notice that washer was not functioning or that we provide own soap for shower
**Most important, if you are more than one person renting, ask for EXTRA KEYS!! You cannot exit the building or even get off the 5th floor without a key fob. This means you can't go for a run outside, or pick up coffee without ALL guests going with you, or trapping whoever remains.
This really is a nice apartment but we feel overcharged and will not stay here again. After the advertised rate plus non-indicated fees, the price was so high that for the same amount, we should have stayed somewhere else.
Bright clean condo within walking distance of everything! We would highly recommend this property!
We enjoyed biking around the City and Stanley Park.
My wife and I venture to Vancouver a few times a year. Not sure why but have not stayed down in Yaletown much. We won't make that mistake again! This condo is brilliant - perfect location right on the Seawall and a block from all of the active parts of Yaletown. We barely had to get in the car and did it all.
The condo itself is perfect with a great design, big curved floor to ceiling windows that look out over Vancouver. W/D in the unit, great appliances, comfy couch, underground parking, and just super easy to get everywhere.
We will definitely be staying again. Thanks so much!
