'Kastania Lodge' offers this superb villa set in a small Cretan village with fabulous views overlooking the bay of Kissamos and the surrounding mountains of the gorge of Topolia. This is a Venetian stone villa with exposed beams, chandeliers & interior stone work surrounding the doors & windows, stylishly furnished with antiques, original oil paintings & watercolours throughout the property. Although antique in its look, the villa is fully equipped with all modern conveniences including a 42' plasma television (main lounge) & smaller plasma screen & DVD player (guest bedroom). There is a front courtyard with a pergola covered in overhanging grape vines & flowering shrubs. To the rear is a large, mature, terraced garden with numerous water features & seating areas. Contained discretely in the garden is a semi-circular splash pool, which is surrounded by scented jasmine and tropical palms. At night, the local town of Kastelli can be seen lit up with lights surrounding the bay.

Nearest Motorway: National Highway at 10 Kilometres

The property sits on the hillside, overlooking the large town of Kastelli, which contains many coastal beaches, about 15 minutes drive from the villa. The nearest beaches can be located 10 minutes drive down the hill in Nopigia. However, the best sandy beaches can be found at Falasarna, which is 20 minutes drive West. Ancient Falasarna is also the site of 4,000 year old Minoan ruins. Heading East, 15 minutes drive along the coast you will reach Kolimbari with its ancient monastery, small shops and fish restaurants. Continuing east (10 min drive), you pass the holiday resorts of Platanias, with its numerous restaurants (including Indian, Chinese and Mexican), bars and nightclubs. Driving on towards Chania (10 min drive), which is the main city of western Crete, you will find the old port with its Venetian harbour, medieval streets and shops. It is essential to hire a car. Chania Airport is a 45 min drive and the city of Chania is 35 min drive from the villa. Kastelli is 15 min drive.

Notes: All main rooms have wall-mounted air-conditioning units, which also provide heat in Winter. Main television has Sky satellite and Arab sat connections with numerous channels available. There is also a large library of English books, novels and DVDs for your enjoyment. Due to the large number of antiques and valuables on the property, the villa is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Further details are in the information book. There is a well stocked glass-fronted white wine fridge, together with a stock of red wines, available for the use of guests at 5 Euros per bottle. Payment for the wine can be made at the end of your stay.
