Our brand new, first floor apartment is in the small, unspoilt, village of Lauterbrunnen. Nestled between the towering walls of a shear sided valley that is famed for its waterfalls and awesome views in every direction. The sunny south facing balcony with table and chairs for summer dining is accessed through large french doors. Inside the living and dining areas are light and spacious and equipped with TV and DVD player. The kitchen is modern with granite worktops and very well equipped with ceramic hob, large fridge and dishwasher. Two beautiful bedrooms, one double, one twin both with stunning views. The bathroom, with shower in bath, toilet and twin basins also houses a brand new washing machine and dryer. The whole apartment has underfloor heating and is tiled throughout. Downstairs there is a heated ski and boot storage area. The apartment is conveniently situated on the bus route with connections to the Schilthorn cableway and main train stations in the village itself.

The Lauterbrunnen Valley is the largest glacial 'U' shaped valley in the world. It is a little known fact that the author JRR Tolkien journeyed here in 1925 and apon seeing this magical valley, he never forgot it. It became the inspiration for 'Rivendell' home of the Elves in his book 'Lord of the Rings'. Indeed nothing has changed, the views are still breathtaking, the natural beauty unspoilt. There are miles of clearly marked walking and hiking trails on either side of the valley in summer and in winter the skiing options are many; Schilthorn with its famous James Bond revolving restaurant, and Wengen with its renowned Lauberhorn Race on the worldcup curcuit in January. For non skiers, there are also winter walking and snow shoe trails, and plenty of restaurants to relax in and enjoy real Swiss tradition. Lauterbrunnen itself houses some excellent restaurants and cafes, as well as sport shops for ski rental and booking offices.
