Exclusive and substantial family home in a most desirable Western suburb of Paris
An exclusive and substantial family house (310m2) principally arranged over two floors, set within its own beautifully landscaped grounds of approximately 2700m2 situated on the sought after ”Coeur Volant” (famously painted by the impressionists Alfred Sisly and Camille Pissarro) near to the prestigious park at Marly-le-Roi and 10 minutes from the château at Versailles.
The house is extremely secure and is not overlooked; it provides a superb balance between entertaining and family accommodation including: a lovely large and light entrance hall with French doors into the gardens and a large sweeping marble staircase, a wonderful double drawing room with triple French windows out to the garden, a very spacious kitchen/family room with a breakfast bar overlooking woodland on one side and on the other side there are three sets of double French windows opening onto a directly south-facing terrace.
On this floor there is also a large bedroom with an en-suite marble Jacuzzi bathroom with separate shower. Off the hall, there is also a separate toilet and a cloakroom.
To the first floor there are three further bedrooms and two bathrooms, including the master bedroom suite with windows to two sides overlooking the garden.
There is an additional lower level which is accessible from the hall. With access to the second driveway and parking for at least 6 cars, this level comprises a study, a laundry area and an Italian shower room with toilet.
There are two garages providing ample space for 4 cars.
The extensive South facing gardens with many beautiful trees have been lovingly landscaped and provide a safe children's play area together with terraces, lawns and large beds of flowering shrubs.
We are English Oxford graduates who have lived in Paris with our four children since 2004. Our older children are totally bilingual and loved the food and lifestyle in France. We bought this house and have totally renovated it - we thought that we would live in it forever as we love it so much. It is south facing and the garden is like a small piece of heaven...
We have had to move to the UK for our son to go to school but our hearts are still in Paris...
This house is perfect for families or for entertaining or conferences - the garden is large and safe, the rooms are huge and the family room is connected to kitchen so you can join in if you are cooking or just making the coffee!
It provides easy access to Paris, Versailles and the surrounding region and is peaceful and tranquil.
It is totally private and an additional full security service can be provided for anyone requiring such a facility- including day/night monitored video cameras.
The house is a total delight and the garden is beautiful - there was a reason the Kings of France chose to live in this area!
The house is situated on the sought after ”Coeur Volant” (as painted by the impressionists Alfred Sisley and Camille Pissarro) near to the prestigious park at Marly-le-Roi where the French Kings and their courtiers spent their leisure time. The château and music Pavillon of Madame du Barry (the mistress of Louis XV) is a 10 minute walk away and the Marly Aqueduct is also 5 minutes walk away.
The impressionist painters did much of their work in this area - local walks along the Seine to the town of Chatou show the sites where the painters such as Renoir and Monet did many of their paintings.
The house is situated 10 minutes drive from the château at Versailles with its amazing gardens. In Versailles there is also the lovely historic farm which belonged to Marie Antoinette, many other museums and churches and a whole host of shops, restaurants and parks.
Paris is 20minutes away by local train (free parking) or a 20 minute drive, this means you are close enough to enjoy Paris but also able to relax afterwards in peace and tranquility.
Paris of course has the Eiffel tower, trips on the river Seine, shops and restaurants to delight everyone (such as the famous Galeries Lafayette), the Champs Elysées, Arc de Triomphe, Père Lachaise, Museums - such as the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, Montmartre, Notre Dame and Moulin Rouge to name just a few.
Monet's garden at Giverney is easily accessible by car and is well worth a day trip.
For children there are lots of local parks and picnic areas plus a short drive away there is a wild animal safari park and zoo, France miniature, Parc Asterix, Aquaboulevard (largest waterpark in Europe) and of course Disneyland Paris!
There are lots of local forests and parks for hiking and mountain biking.
The house has beautiful landscaped private and very quiet gardens which are not overlooked, they are totally safe and secure for children to play in and you can unwind and relax on the lawns under the shade of the ancient oak trees or dine on the ‘terrasse’; coffee and croissants in the garden is the morning is a particularly pleasing way to start the day!
