The Lake House was designed and built in 2002 by Jill, the owner, an internationally known artist, for our family to relax in and get away from New York City. We have enjoyed the fresh country air, eating locally grown, raised and harvested foods and playing in the outdoors in the woods and by the lake. The Lake House has served as Jill's summer studio through the years and the home is furnished with many personal works of art by her and artist whom she knows.

Our family has loved and cared for this home throughout the years, as evidenced by the pristine condition that you will find and enjoy.

Jill purchased this house in 2002

The Lake House is a true retreat from the the hectic pace of everyday life. You can choose to stock up the fridge and relax with all of the comforts you desire, both indoors and out. There is no need to leave unless you want to partake in the many amenities that Sullivan County has to offer.

You will find the Bethel Woods Performing Art Center and the site of the 1969 Woodstock Music festive and Museum just 8 miles away. Down the road from that is the Dancing Cat Saloon and Distillery. The Dancing Cat Saloon serves up good food and spirts along with local talents performing jam sessions. The Distillery is distilling 'Peace Vodka' which you can sample there or at the Dancing Cat.

Take a ride along the Delaware River to Fort Delaware. Experience life in a Fort as it would have been. This is great for kids and adults alike.

Winter is also a great time to be a the Lake House. The locals ice fish and you can sled the local hills or for a bigger adventure ski or snowtube Villa Roma which is a 15 minute drive away. Its a small run but great family fun to noodle around on ski's without crowds.

This is a true nature getaway. Whether its summer and you are watching the trees sway and hearing the leaves rustle and the geese honk or its winter and your sitting cozy by the fireplace watching the snow fall, you will love your vacation at the Lake House.

Very nice house steps to the Lake

We were 4 couples willing to escape from NYC craziness for a week-end. We had an awesome time there. Pictures of the house don't even do justice! The outdoor patio is huuuuge. The house is very clean, and well-maintained, the kitchen is very well equiped - I love cooking - and Jill was really helpful! The bread at the German bakery is awesome, and is a very nice walk from the house! Everything was just perfect, all the more the weather was great. We kayaked the lake, played rackets, but mainly spent quality time together! Everynight we ate outside - although it was started to get chilly - and the table & grill easily accomodate 8. The one thing is that there is no large dinner table inside... We did not suffer from it AT ALL but we will wait for late Spring to come back! Because we will definitely be back! Mahalo Jill!

Owner's Response: I'm so glad that you and your guests had a nice time. The fall weather can be a bit unpredictable. Glad it held out for you and that you were able to enjoy dining outdoors. The indoor table has 6 chairs that match and there are 2 additional chairs in the basement that can be used but I admit that would be a tight squeeze. Six fit comfortably.
I look forward to having you back in the spring.
Mahalo Eve!

Family Vacation at The Lake House

We had a wonderful multigenerational vacation at The Lake House. Property was as shown on the listing and is in a wonderful rural setting. When we had an issue with the internet, the owner promptly got the problem fixed. This wouldn't have not been an issue at all except for the fact that one of our group needed to spend several hours each day completing work for an on-line advanced degree course. Our only caveat about the rental is that the living room is not especially user-friendly for elderly or flexibility-challenged guests such as our 90 year old aunt. However, the photos did show the living room furniture and I should have been more alert to the difficulty this style of furniture would present for her. This is a great house in a marvelous location. Great restaurants in the area, close to Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center and Museum - Sullivan County has so much to offer now. I'd stay there again.

Owner's Response: The home is furnished with modern furniture and as such might be a little challenging for the elderly. My 84 year old father tell me that the furniture is difficult for him too. The lower level bedroom and living room furniture is a bit less challenging. That's where my father enjoys sitting, with his TV and high back sofa, it's his modern "man cave". I hope your aunt enjoyed her time in spite of the furnishings. I appreciate your informing me of that internet was not working so that it could be repaired during your visit. I want every guest to get the most of their stay and understand that internet connection is a vital tool.

Lovely, relaxing weekend!

We had such a lovely, relaxing weekend at the lake house! There were 8 of us so we greatly appreciated the spacious home and grilling out and eating dinners under the stars on the big wrap-around deck. The basement was perfect for game nights and cooling off. Sitting out by the lake was peaceful and relaxing and full of wildlife! Although I was sad I couldn't swim in the lake - the ability to kayak and see turtles, fish, deer and other wildlife made up for it. There were only 2 kayaks so if you have a large group I recommend bringing a few more! On your way in or out of town be sure to stop in the cute German bakery in town - very authentic and delicious!

Owner's Response: Glad that you had a nice relaxing time enjoying the lake and the kayaks. The German Bakery is my favorite indulgence! Please come visit us again.

We rented this house as a group of adults attending a camp reunion weekend. The Lake House was as clean, roomy and well-stocked as advertised! The owner gave great instructions and was very responsive to questions and various needs. It was one of the hottest weekends in the mountains, but given the great cross breeze and ceiling fans, we were fine. Great space for socializing out on the deck.

Owner's Response: I'm so glad that you had an enjoyable reunion! We do get that occasional hot spell in the mountains. Sorry you hit those days but I'm glad that the abundance of windows and ceiling fans helped keep things cool. We hope to see you again.

Incredible Weekend!

I rented out the Lake House for a group of friends who were just looking to get away from Manhattan to relax during Memorial Day Weekend. We couldn't have been more pleased. The house was immaculate and so spacious. There were 9 of us total and we had plenty of room to hang out and to have 'family style' dinners on the deck. We were a group in our late twenties and even had a blast at the local pub Mullally's. Looking forward to our next trip!

Owner's Response: Glad to hear that you had a memorable time and that while you were visiting you were able to take advantage of some of the local "flavors". Mullally's Pub is a great place where locals treat everyone as friends. The food is good and they have some tasty beer's on tap. We hope you visit again and try some of the other local pubs. "The Cabin" is our favorite!
