Crediton Barn Rental Photos and Description

Two large 5 bedroom holiday cottages on the farm, in the rural Heart of Devon

Situated close on the edge of the small hamlet of Poughill, in the heart of the tourist-free Mid-Devon countryside, the Barton is a small family run farm. Our land is grazed by a small herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle and a handful of friendly sheep along with chickens and one or two pigs. Home reared meat is usually available on the farm.

We offer a choice of two truly unique spacious cottages, The Barton Granary and Brimbles, both converted from Grade II Listed barns, comfortably furnished and well-equipped. We are able to offer the added attraction of a small indoor heated swimming pool which is available all year round, together with a small enclosed children's play area. We also have a wellie bank (in case you forget yours and wish to explore the farm) a selection of bicycles for the use of guests, a DVD library and selection of guide books and maps to borrow.

This Grade II listed former dairy and shippen is located at the entrance to the farm. We have retained original features wherever possible in this unique courtyard conversion and have used reclaimed timber wherever possible throughout the building. Downstairs there is an extremely spacious and well-equipped kitchen/diner featuring glass doors and panels along one wall. Upstairs, the huge sitting room features a wood burner, open beamed ceiling and glass roof panels. There is also a separate small playroom/sitting room downstairs. The two double bedrooms each have an ensuite shower room and unique features. There is a twin bedroom downstairs and a bunk bedroom and twin bedroom upstairs. There is a small enclosed garden at the back of Brimbles, accessed from the downstairs playroom.

Great Cottage - what a wonderful time we had. The cottage is so well equipped with everything for children & adults. The swimming pool was a great hit on the rainy days and a real treat to be able to just walk from the kitchen! The children loved the playroom, toys and videos - they were very energetic running around and slept well.

FABULOUS RELAXING BREAK

We have returned to Brimbles once more and once more it does not disappoint. Anne and Phil take great care to ensure that the cottages are equipped with everything you could possibly need. We made full use of the pool - perfect for our children, the shallow end shallow enough for the little ones to stand in, but deep enough to swim in. All the energy expended in the pool ensured that they slept well! The feeling of space in Brimbles is amazing - always possible to find a quiet corner to read a book, this is no cramped cottage. As ever the kitchen was the hub of our stay - large enough for the children to run around in whilst we pottered about cooking, and there was plenty of space for the 9 of us each day to eat together around the table.
The farm shop just outside Cheriton Fitzpaine is well worth a visit - excellent butchery and choice of veg, as is the cheese shop in Crediton.
A very relaxing week was had by all - we will be back!

PERFECT HOLIDAY FOR GROUPS OF FRIENDS/ FAMILIES

After visiting and staying at Brimbles quite a few times now, I can not recommend this high enough. The accommodation is very well equipped and extremely clean and spacious. Even on those wet days you can find a corner in the house if you want to be away from the crowd. Anne and Phil are wonderful hosts and if you want to stay in for a celebratory meal Anne will even cook for you by prior arrangement and let me tell you she is an exceptional cook! The local scenery is stunning and you are within easy reach of either coast about 40 mins. The pool is an added bonus and is accessed two doors that are locked by pin number so no need to worry about young ones getting in un-accompanied. There are walks around the farm which are very picturesque, and you can even help out at feeding times by just asking. Go and have a wonderful time.
