We have enjoyed visiting the Coos Bay Area for the past 7 years. My wife mother bought a boat and comes here often to go fishing and crabbing. We have spent alot of quality family time here and decided to share this with others.
Peggy or Ray purchased this house in 2005
My wife and her mother went down the coast of Oregon looking for a vacation property for us. I wanted to Golf and go hunting and they wanted to go fishing and crabbing. After seeing this home in county wooded setting with the beautiful deck my wife said 'Honey you will love this area, the deck and the house, well, you can open this floor plan up and .....' We went to work and made the house into a home we love to visit with our family.
Golf in Bandon or Coos Bay:
- Short drive to Charlston to crab, clam dig, and fish.
- Coos Bay has several docks to put the boat in the Bay.
- Fresh Oysters right down the road.
- Big game hunting as well as ducks near by.
- 10 mile Lake for trout fishing with in a 1/2 hr drive
- Coquille River and Coos Bay for Great Salmon fishing.
- Great Salmon fishing walking distance from house.
- Great Shopping Areas Coos Bay and Bandon.
- Scenic walking in the hills and right out the back door.
- Several Lighthouses near by.
- Great restaurants nearby.
This lovely home was the perfect place to relax, play board games, and now with friends in between our coastal adventures! We fished in a river and in the bay at Bandon, took our kayaks for some time in the lake, volunteered at Bree's, hung out in the board walk tasting cheese and wine and oysters, etc. Taking bikes next time and staying longer to fit some golf in!
We loved everything from the bedrooms to the pots and pans! Great place for couples, and families with children!
This home was perfect for our group - 4 couples and 5 small children. Everyone was able to have private sleeping space, with wonderful open areas on the decks, and in the dining/living room for us all to gather. The kitchen was great! We will definitely stay here again.
This house is large and well stocked, with a ranch-style lay out, and privacy for each of the 5 bedrooms. The living room has a large dining area, and plenty of seating in the living room for a large group. The grounds are well maintained. The house is close to highway 42, which is busy day and night. The windows on the highway side block the noise if closed. Coos Bay was industrial and is now somewhat depressed. The beach on the ocean side, 30-40 minutes away, is beautiful, with great hikes along the coast, vistas and whale watching. The sand dunes are close, 30 min to the north, with 40 miles of dunes along the coast in that direction. There are several golf courses nearby.
This home was in great shape and had a lot of room to spread out. We were able to comfortably give each kid their own room and have room for my parents as well. There is not a lot to do nearby, but this is a great base to make excursions to Bandon, Coos Bay or Sunset Bay. The house and yard gave the kids some room to stretch out an play. You could easily have 2 or 3 families here with the way the house is laid out.
They have a great supply of kitchen and BBQ utensils. Great high quality appliances. Plenty of parking. The WiFi is SLOW, but it is available for checking email etc. It was showing about .3 mbps up and down on my cell phone. There is not great cell service there, so the WiFi helps you look up restaurants and get directions or whatever. Who needs a cell phone when you are on vacation anyway:)
I would stay here again.
This house is wonderful for big family gatherings. The 5 bedrooms accommodated our diverse family of 13 from two 82 year old great grandmothers to 2 year old children. Our daughter and her family loved that they had a space for she, her husband and three children to be separated from the main house. It is a drive to any destination you may want to go to such as Bandon or Coos Bay (15-30 minutes) but it is almost impossible to find a house this big, welcoming, accommodating and priced right any closer to the ocean. We had an incredibly wonderful time at the house. I didn't realize that the house was so close to the highway and thought that the noise would be a distraction to the fun hanging out at the deck but it really wasn't.
W also loved the ice machine once we realized it was there. For a large group this was very beneficial.
The owners were very easy to work with and I would indeed go back again if I had this big of a group to house in this area.
We have never been disappointed with our VRBO rentals over the past 5 years and this indeed was "as it was presented on the web".
Thank you Bray family for sharing your home with us!
