Guestbook comments from the owner
Loved our stay and I think everyone agreed they wanted to do it again next year with more family in trailers, tents etc.

A native of Texas, the owner is a widow who loves wine, fishing and food. She splits her time between a California residence and this Oregon residence.

Suzanne Snyder purchased this mobile home in 2007

Purchased this property after years of fishing at the world famous Big K Ranch and fishing with a world class guide, Todd Hannah, who also lives on the river, just 10 minutes away!

This residence is almost exactly half-way between the catch-and-release fishery around Glide, Oregon, and the excellent salmon fishing in Winchester Bay at Reedsport, Oregon. The fishing is a given, but the Umpqua Valley wineries, known for their Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, are increasingly drawing wine lovers. The Oregon Dunes are just 45 minutes away, with ATV rentals available. Great place for the whole family to have fun!

My wife and I (along with our dog) came down for a quiet week on the river and were thrilled with our accommodation at "Someday".

The house was immaculately kept and was well-outfitted with everything we needed (less food) for the week.

The bass fishing was the best I've ever experienced. The water was low in August and the hungry fish were packed into what remained of the flow. The shoreline behind the cabin had a number of good fishing holes - I didn't need a boat at all.

We are already looking forward to heading back next year.

WONDERFUL, AFFORDABLE PROPERTY

  • 4 of 5
Wonderful location on the river that is even better than the pictures. We were there when the blackberries were ripe and it was lovely to be able to go out and pick them. The only issue we had relates to the drinkability of the water. Despite the owners best efforts at filtration, etc. and being forewarned by her the water still tastes and smells bad so it is important to bring your own drinking water. The weather was quite hot while we were there. There is a window AC unit in the living room that keeps the place pretty adequately cooled until evening when the breezes in the river canyon help cool things down so it is possible to sleep in the bedrooms with just fans that the owner has provided. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to be in a quiet location and likes to fish. I also hope to return someday.

GOOD TIME ON THE UMQUA

  • 5 of 5
I stayed in this cottage by the Umqua for a week and it was wonderful. The house though small is spacious enough that if someone wants some alone time from the rest of the family that it can be done. I was worried that it might be damp and cold but it was instead warm and cozy thanks to the forced air heating and the wood stove. Access to the river was easy. Just go out the back door, walk across the field and you're fishing. Trips to Elkton took a little over 15 minutes and the grocery shopping is easy and there are a few restaurants. The house is fully stocked with books and nice furniture and the kitchen well organized with some stock. One big feature for me was the wifi internet access for my lap top. The other thing was that it was quiet andthe road in front had little traffic. The only real issue for me was that I kept passing it up when I came back from exploring. The driveway is narrow and the bushes hide it somewhat. I would reccommend this place to anyone who wants to get away, have some room and just relax.
