Summary: The Salmon Lodge is a 1,900 square-foot, luxury three-bedroom and three-bathroom townhome located in the Old Mill District on the trendy west side of Bend, Oregon. Positioned within easy walking distance of the Old Mill shopping and entertainment plaza (including shopping, restaurants, coffee, pubs and entertainment), the Lodge is also near to Riverbend Park on the Deschutes River. Close to the north, within easy biking distance, lies Bend’s fun and exciting downtown area.

Rates are competitive. Weekly and monthly rates are discounted.

Description: The Salmon Lodge has a striking open architecture in a modern but comfortable Northwest lodge style. The downstairs is dominated by a luxurious great room that includes a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with granite counters, breakfast bar and stainless appliances. The Northwest feel of the dining and living area is set by generous use of architectural rock and natural wood. Here the ceiling soars to the second floor rooftop, and big windows let in the year-round sun for which Bend is so famous. The gas fireplace is topped with a unique and artistic juniper mantle. A sky bridge leads above the great room to a small bar area and then outside to a second-floor exterior deck that offers stunning views of the Cascades, including the Sisters and other nearby volcanic summits.

Accommodations include three bedrooms, all with a dedicated full bath that is either in-suite or adjacent. The five beds include a king (in the luxury master suite), two queens, a queen sleeper sofa in the great room, and a twin futon in the loft for a total sleeping capacity of six to nine. A portable crib is also provided. The luxurious four-piece master bath includes a jetted soaking tub.

Adjacent to the house is a modest fenced area with a patio, second outdoor table and gas grill. The fenced area is sufficient to serve as a dog run for smaller dogs. In addition, covered front porch on the first floor offers a great place to relax and watch the world go by. A two-car garage behind the Salmon Lodge is entered from a private alley.

The Salmon Lodge is ideally located for a perfect vacation, taking advantage of everything the Bend area has to offer. During the day enjoy the natural environment and stimulating outdoor pursuits for which Bend is famous, including skiing, mountain biking, fishing, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, horseback riding and golf – just to name a few. Then in the evenings take in the restaurants, entertainment and shopping that fill Bend’s Westside. Or just relax at the lodge and watch the sun set over the Cascades from the outdoor dining table on the upper deck as you quaff a beverage from the nearby bar. Evenings will be enhanced by the entertainment choices at the Lodge, including cable TV, Wifi Internet, and extensive collections of DVDs (including children’s), CDs, books and board games.

Do you enjoy lakes and rivers? Two high quality Old Town canoes with wood bent-shaft paddles and a variety of PFDs are provided in season. Would you like to explore winter snow trails in the nearby Cascades? Four pairs of snowshoes are provided.

About Richard Penny

The owners, Anne and Richard Penny, live in Edmonds, Washington with their two teenage daughters. We are both college or university educators. We enjoy the Northwest's culture and all the outdoor activities the region has to offer. We love going to Bend to enjoy the sun and to get outside when it is too rainy in the Puget Sound.

On the other hand, it is also a Northwest outdoor lodge, offering easy access to Bend's terrific skiing, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking.

Great place in beautiful Bend!

My family and I travelled to Bend for a wedding in February. The Salmon Lodge was clean and beautifully designed in the rustic mountain lodge style typical of Bend. The layout was open concept and the right size and number of bedrooms/bathrooms for our party (3 couples). This is a great location near Old Mill and the highway, and not too far from all of our favorite Bend restaurants! We had a great stay and recommend the Salmon Lodge to anyone!

A Weekend in Bend with Beer

We used the house as a staging area for the Bend Ale Trail. It was in a great location (close to downtown). The house was very modern and nicely furnished. It was also fairly spacious and comfortable for everyone. Having three sets of bedrooms with their own bathrooms and shower made it very convenient. We really enjoyed ourselves, in large part thanks to the house! The owners were very warm in correspondence, and easy and quick to refund the deposit.

You are right; the Salmon Lodge is a great base for exploring Bend's craft breweries. Bend has 14 world-class craft breweries all within a short distance of one another. In fact, Bend has more breweries per capita than any other city in Oregon and is often referred to as Beer Town USA.

Great accommodations for 7 adult cyclists in Bend for a bit of bicycling. Unit was exactly as described. Floor plan was great for socializing, shared meals, etc.

Spring Break Skiing

This was a great place to serve as a homebase as we went out and explored Bend and skied. It is a very comfortable and relaxing townhouse and conveniently located. The Internet access worked great, which allowed us to keep up with work while also enjoying some time away. We love this townhome and hope to come back again sometime.

We skied Mt. Bachelor three of the days, and explored Bend and surrounds the rest of the time, including Pilot Butte, the High Desert Museum (which was much better than we expected), Shevlin Park and downtown Bend. Cindy and Hannah enjoyed shopping in the Old Mill District. For restaurants we recommend Flatbread Community Oven, Jackson's Corner, Alpenglow and Zydeco.

Convenient

We love the convenient location of this delightful and welcoming townhouse. The decorations top off this comfortable home, and we would all love to visit again. The TV, fireplace, jacuzzi bathtub, movie selection, and cozy beds were our favorite parts. Our goal was to relax and that is exactly what we achieved.

We bought the kids new boots and broke them in at Dillon Falls (our favorite) and the Badlands. We also like to shop and explore the different restaurants. Our favorite restaurant for a nice evening out was Level 2, but El Bodeo, Pizza Mondo and the Original Pancake House were all great.
