My husband and I were childhood sweethearts in central Texas. We married in 1957 and he graduated from A&M in the class of 1959. We started our family early and had five wonderful children and now have 10 grandchildren, mostly grown too.
Our children were high school age when we bought a farm. My husband was an ex-calf roper and bullrider and he wanted to start a brood mare ranch. He felt our teenagers would take care of halter breaking and getting yearlings ready for the All American Sale each year in Ruidoso. This was a wonderful, new experience for all of us and would help our children earn their own money for college. This also led up to our spending a lot of time in Ruidoso which we all loved.
We spent many summers in Ruidoso, often renting private homes for a month at a time and sharing the rentals with 2 or 3 other couples and many dear friends.
Eventually our grandchildren wanted to share in our Ruidoso experiences and we began bringing them with us, usually renting the home right next door to this one. We loved the awesome views from the west-facing decks and spent many hours relaxing outside and watching beautiful sunsets over Sierra Blanca.
In the summer of 2007 we purchased this home, fulfilling our dream for a family-sized vacation home.
We love being greeted by the deer each morning as we enjoy coffee on the deck.
This home offers awe inspiring views of Sierra Blanca twelve months out of the year. Whether it is snow-capped or glistening in the bright summer sun, there is something very special about that mountain. When the rains or snows come in you can watch the mountain become engulfed and yet feel safe and warm in our home.
