Kirk or Marion Love purchased this villa in 2008
When we first visited the Island many years ago we fell in love with it and the beautiful people. We decided it would be a wonderful place to have a vacation home.
It is very quiet and peaceful, definitely a place for rest and relaxation. It took us a couple of years to find the perfect location and home and we could not be happier with our choice. The sunrises are spectacular and the views are breathtaking.
Thank you so much for an incredible opportunity for family bonding! We are a crazy, active family and we enjoyed the opportunity to relax and reconnect! The house is perfect for a vacation. Kirk and Marion were helpful and quick to respond. Howard is a sweet responsive caretaker. We will be back!
This was our first stay at Barefoot Beach Villa and our second visit to the island of Eleuthera. This is without a doubt one of the best villas we have stayed at in our 20+ years of traveling throughout the Bahamas and the Caribbean. The villa is beautiful and exceeded all of our expectations! What a gorgeous setting it has - so private and quiet with a beautiful beach just steps away. We ate a majority of our meals at the villa and bought grouper and hogfish off the fishermen in Governors Harbor. We also patronized some of our favorite haunts - Tippy's, Buccaneers, 1648 and of course the Friday night fish fry, where we made new friends. Howard, the Caretaker, was a pleasure to meet and was very helpful in all regards. The new shower door he installed during our stay looks great and the no-see-um screens were helpful in warding off those pesky insects. The outdoor shower is very private and we had no need to use the indoor ones, even with a new shower door!
The villa is well equipped with all amenities, included the well needed gas grill for grilling up the local grouper. The kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances, including a well needed ice maker. The setting is extremely quiet and most times we had the beach to ourselves. The settlement of North Palmetto Point is very sweet with several small grocery stores and a few restaurants offering local fare. The beautiful beaches along the Banks Road are minutes away, but the beach in from of the villa rivals the rest for privacy and swimming. No complaints and we recommend this villa highly… so much so that we're looking forward to our return in 2016!
What a gem! We are frequent visitors to Eleuthera. I first came as a child with my parents. We started bringing our children when the oldest was only 6 weeks old, and now are bringing our grandchildren! We have many fond memories, and have stayed in many homes over the years, and Barefoot Beach Villa is one of the best. The layout is perfect, with common areas in the center of the house and bedrooms located separately in the side wings. Everything you might need has been provided by Marion and Kirk. It is centrally located with restaurants and grocery stores nearby. The views of the Atlantic are exactly what you see in the photos. It is awesome every day —all day — constantly changing, no matter what the weather. Some days the ocean is calm, other days rough, but always amazing. One of the things we love about Eleuthera is that you’re never more than a few minutes away from the perfect beach. There is something for everyone, from Surfer’s Beach to the crystal clear calm, shallow beaches at Ten Bay or Coca di Mama. If it’s too rough on the Atlantic side, a short drive will bring you to one of those calm beaches where small children can sit in the water and play, watching tiny fish swim around them, and never be toppled by waves.
Another important detail - this home has one of the best internet connections we’ve ever experienced on Eleuthera. It was always available - very unusual compared to past experiences.
One thing we discovered this year were the Stone Crabs! We brought a cooler from the house on one of our day trips to Gregory Town (Pam’s Gift Shop) and on the way back stopped in Hatchet Bay where we bought the crabs wholesale. They are farmed there and frozen for export, and are available to purchase right from the warehouse (just off the Queen’s Highway). We brought them back to the house and had them for dinner. Quite a treat!! If you do go to Gregory Town try Unca Gene’s for lunch. Good food and friendly people!
Barefoot Beach Villa will definitely be a part of our future visits to Eleuthera!
We have stayed on this island four times and this house is by far the best. The location is superb...gorgeous views, a perfect, private pink sand beach plus wonderful outdoor accessories...hammock, lounge chairs, kayaks, snorkeling equipment, bikes. The house is modern, spacious and nicely decorated. We had plenty of dishes, pots & pans, linens, even spices! The caretaker Howard was wonderful. We enjoyed meals on the screened porch and reading on the patio. The ability to stay connected to issues back home thru the internet was most helpful. We strongly recommend this house to anyone looking for the perfect beach house.
We've been to Eleuthera many times over the past few years, but only recently discovered this gem of a house. We've been back 3 times since, most recently staying for a full month. Unlike many rental houses on Eleuthera everything is in pristine condition, and the caretaker Howard will handle anything you need help with. The house has a wonderful screened in patio which is an essential as Eleuthera beachfronts can get very buggy at night. We'll keep coming back!
Kirk and Marion, you have truly outdone yourselves. I wish I had a picture of the look on the kid's faces as we pulled up the driveway. The house was amazing, the layout was perfect and it had everything we could possible need and more, kayaks, fishing polls, snorkel gear, beach towels etc. The kitchen had everything we needed and more with beautiful appliances. Our daughter took some college classes over the summer so having the wifi allowed her to have a great vacation as well as getting her classwork done. The water was calm and crystal clear. The view from the deck is breathtaking. It's perfect for families with kids of all ages (we had two 16 year olds and two 20 year olds.) My husband and I were already familiar with the island as we were there back in February so other than showing the kids other sites on the island, because they had never been there before, we could have stayed at the house the whole ten days. Howard was very nice and came to pick up the garbage every few days. We did have a bad storm one night and lost power, but the house generator kicked on right away and it only lasted a short time. Yes, there are a lot of steps down to the beach but they were not an issue for us. Bug spray is a must for the no see ums but you will find that anywhere on the island. A rental car is a must. We enjoyed lighthouse beach with the breathtaking views, pack a lunch and water. The Friday night fish fry is fun and that is where we saw the most people the whole time we were there, you have the the beaches mostly to yourselves. Harbour Island is a nice day trip and there are lots of local shops if you want to buy souvenirs. The locals are very friendly, everyone helps each other out. We had some car trouble and every car stopped to see if we needed help. Fishbone Tours offers a great 4 hour trip to see sea turtles, snorkel, dive for starfish, and look for conch. Thank you again Kirk and Marion, I can honestly say that it was the best family vacation we have ever had and we look forward to returning.
