|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
We have made every effort to set our 2nd home up with all the little details that will make your stay comfortable, relaxing and convenient.
The home is in a beautiful peaceful lake front neighborhood and therefore may not be used for noisy parties. We have great relationships with our neighbors. It is just a few miles from the small town of Brussels, in the area often referred to as Southern Door.
Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds and the third bedroom has 2 twin size beds.
Two additional guests(#7&8) can be accomodated on the fold out futon in the lower level family room with additional fee of $25 per person/night, upon prior approval.
I love living near the water!! This home is one of our favorite places to vacation, whether it is for one night, one week, or more! Waking up in the morning and the first view right from my pillow is the water; Just sitting on the deck and listening to the gentle waves while I read a book; and in the evening watching the sunset. When my husband & I travel we also love to go to other places that are on the water. Our primary home is just 15 miles away in the city of Sturgeon Bay, WI.
Jill Schwarzbauer purchased this cottage in 2012
When we started looking for property we decided that there was no place more beautiful than Door County in the summertime. But we prefer the Southern Door area for the quiet and when we do finally retire here years from now we will be close enough to Green Bay and all it has to offer, including the airport only 30 miles away, while still being able to take a drive to the northern part of the county any day we choose.
And when family comes to visit we can all stay together and easily make day trips to all of the reasons that Door County is considered a primo vacation destination.
The owner, Jill, was extremely easy to work with and helpful. The home is beautiful and clean. It was equipped with all you could need for you stay. It was exactly what we were looking for - a quiet, scenic getaway. Being away from town, it was very private and quiet. The view of the lake is so peaceful. It's close enough to door county attractions that it is an easy trip to get there. We would love to stay there again someday. Highly recommended. One of our favorite places we've stayed. And it's a big plus that pets are allowed. Our dog needed a vacation too!
Jill's house was everything we wanted and more... Jill was very helpful in our planning and was at the house to meet us when we got there. The views from the living room window, bedroom and deck were outstanding!!! We were only there for two nights, but would love to see more of Door County and utilize more of the house's amenities!!! The house was a bit outside of the hustle and bustle of Door County, but that was a plus to us!!! We had no wifi or cell phone service, but that was also a plus to us!!! Thank you Jill not only for your beautiful house and hospitality, but also for all the extra touches you provided. We would love to stay at your house again and would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to explore Door County!!!
We had a wonderful family vacation with 4 teenaged boys, Mom and Dad and an Aunt. As you can tell from all the reviews, the owners are extremely nice and thoughtful. Jill goes above and beyond in providing detailed information about the home, extras in the kitchen and great suggestions about the area. There were a lot of unexpected benefits like enough outdoor seats for all of the 7 of us to sit around the outdoor fire pit and cook hotdogs and s'mores. We enjoyed the two bikes for riding and routinely saw a family of cranes that lived up the street. We had fun with a game night using the games in cabinet, and although we happened to be here during an unseasonably cold patch, we did eventually get out in the canoe awhile. (I was surprised and pleased to see not only very high quality life preservers but also very nice seat pads!) We didn't have phone service or wifi, which actually turned out to be a plus in that we had some great family bonding time together. The sunsets from the picture window and back deck are GORGEOUS, to the extent that I'm actually tired of looking at all of our photos of them. Two tips -- don't forget the bug spray (I found Wisconsin as a whole to have a very healthy bug population) and bring plenty of bottled water. Also, our family really enjoyed Cave Point, Potowatomi State Park and Peninsula State Park if you're looking for day trips. LOVED this vacation!
Our annual R & R has gotten quite sophisticated in the respect to our accommodations over the last four years. Through trial and error and experiencing our one annual coveted week get-away the length of requirements is rather specific. As you can imagine with four woman. We like all the comforts of home but...away from home. ~On the Water~ Good Living Room Area For Games and Movie Watching ~ Hot Tub ~ Fire Pit ~ Grill ~ Huge Deck ~ Central AC ~ Fireplace ~ 1/1/2 baths ~ Three Bedrooms With Big Comfy Beds ~ Fully Stocked Kitchen ~ Close To Tourist Attractions ~ Within Budget ~ just to mention a few criteria... Its a Million Dollar View To Watch The Sunsets...
La Bella Casa Di Mattoni is a special find mainly do to the fact that it's A HOUSE not a Lake Cottage. It doesn't have that musty cottage smell. The sheets and linens are Downey fresh. The minute you walk in its Home Sweet Home.
The owners are very knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. I highly recommend this property and plan on another visit in the fall. Its a no worry vacation here. Ahhhh!
Don't know if we can describe how wonderful it was to celebrate our 30th anniversary at La Bella Casa Di Mattoni. The owners went so far beyond what was expected in all areas; communications, attention to detail, and anticipating almost every possible need in outfitting this beautiful home. I could go on endlessly but suffice it to say that if you choose this location, and you should if you want to enjoy the beauty of Southern Door Co., you will be checking your calendars to make reservations again, and again, and again.
We will be! Truly wonderful people and a gorgeous location.
Seven Red Hat Ladies spent 3 days In Door County seeing the sights and enjoying the wonderful weather. The house was comfortable and well equipped inside. The beach was pretty rough as it had shells a good two foot deep as far as we could see. We were also disappointed that the water was so shallow that we couldn't really do any fishing. Figured we would have deeper water as we had to walk down 45 steep stairs to get to the beach. That is not the owners fault though. The house is near Sturgeon Bay but not in the middle of the rush of the Door County crush. The weather was great but we couldn't get the windows opened to let in the fresh air. Maybe already shutdown for the winter. They had prepared the fire pit for a nice evening fire and had plenty of seating and sleeping space for all of us. Overall, a nice weekend with friends who were seeing the sights for the first time.
Located in a beautiful, peaceful, natural setting with amazing sunsets over the lake. Our home is on the bay side of Door County, where the water is normally calmer and warmer. It is away from the crowds of the northern area of the county but is a beautiful drive to all that our gorgeous county has to offer.
