This charming rental is at the beginning of the Lower Riveria area. It is a classic bungalow built in the mid twenties with a spacious living room and dining room. Hardwood floors throughout. There is a small deck outside the dining room with two lounge chairs and a small built-in table. It is accessed by glass French doors. The gourmet kitchen features a Viking range, built in wine cooler, antique solid butcher block and copper cookware. There is also a study with a day bed. The front yard is totally enclosed with a hedge, fence and is very pet friendly. There is a covered brick patio with table, chairs and a Weber gas BBQ. The front bedroom is large with a queen size bed, the middle bedroom has a double bed and a half bathroom attached. Off street parking in the driveway.
This property is located in one of the very best areas in Santa Barbara. It is a twenty minute walk to the cultural and restaurant center of downtown (State St.) where you will find museums, galleries and restaurants. Also explore the many restaurants of Milpas Street just minutes away. Santa Barbara is blessed with many world class offerings: The SB Museum of Art (more Monets than any museum on the west coast), Natural History Museum, SB Mission and Presidio, Steans Wharf, the harbor, beaches, golf courses, the list goes on and on. World class performance venues include the Arlington and Granada Theaters and the Santa Barbara Bowl, just three blocks away. Leave the city for a beautiful 40 minute drive north to world recognized wineries in the Santa Inez Valley or the Santa Rita Hills. Los Angeles is less than 90 miles south and San Francisco is 340 miles north.
This is my home. I am semiretired and when the home is rented I am either traveling or living with others or in another rental. I have lived in Santa Barbara for over twenty years now and love it.
Ed purchased this house in 1997
You are not tied to a car here, you can walk to world class museums and restaurants, the beach in 20 minutes. You can drive to the Natural History Museum, the Botanical Gardens, the Mission, Stearn's Wharf and Harbor in 5 minutes. Markets and excellent restaurants only minutes away.
This property is open and airy. I always have the kitchen window, front door, and dining room french doors open throughout the day. When the weather is nice, almost all the time, it is like living outdoors while you are at home indoors. The front yard is totally enclosed and perfect for dogs. With the front door open a dog comes and goes as she pleases. The living room now features a new 39 inch LED HDTV and a DirecTV one remote video system. Also available is a new DVD/BlueRay disc player.
Great bungalow with Americana charm. Owner made the process easy and had a full binder with restaurant locations, history, and ideas for things to do. We went with friends and had our 3 yr old son and toddler with us.
We had a wonderful stay. The location was perfect. The house was very comfortable & clean. Loved the unique furniture & décor. Thanks for allowing our dogs to tag along. And thanks for the recommendations on the great food in the area. We would definitely rent here again!
The house was perfect for our stay. Close to everything. It actually has a den that gives privacy for sleeping. The house was clean and worked out great for 6 people. I recommend this to all.
We, 5 adults, stayed in this lovely, quaint house for a week in December. Our daughter was being married two days after Christmas. The kitchen was terrific. The Viking stove easily accommodated a ham, turkey breast, corn casserole, and stuffing at the same time. Christmas dinner was delicious for everything was readily available. We also made the wedding cake with no problems. We had a lot of "stuff" with us and were easily able to handle all the wedding garb. We were able to hang the wedding dress so that we could steam and prepare it for the big event.
All in all, this was a wonderful time. There was space to play games, and we had WiFi/Direct TV. The house was conveniently located and everything can be visited in the Santa Barbara area with a car. We strongly recommend Ed's house and will return there ourselves when we again need a place to stay in Santa Barbara..
Spotless property! Great 3 bedroom that sleeps 5 easily. A child or adult 5'4" or under can sleep on his sofa (not a sleeper sofa). Owner clearly takes pride in his place and has many interesting decorative pieces. Owner was easy to communicate with and a pleasure to deal with.
This house and property are very nice, very comfortable, and as advertised. It had everything we needed and was very well maintained. The owner was fully available if needed (turns out we didn't need him). The fenced front yard was 100% contained which was critical for our four dogs. Opening the front door and back kitchen window created a nice breeze through the house, important for those warm afternoons. Good neighborhood, very quiet at night, and an easy walk to many shops (downtown would be a healthy hike, but we drove and it only takes a few minutes.) This part of residential Santa Barbara has very narrow streets lined with parked cars; if you can, leave your big SUVs at home.
