|Minimum Stay||6 nights|
The apartment is where we go and relax and enjoy the Mediterranean lifestyle in the heart of the old city.
Easy access to the airport by taxi or public transport allows a quick and simple arrival allowing you to really enjoy a weekend break.
Having been recently renovated and with a terrace for BBQ it is really set up for enjoying the home after a tiring day exploring.
Otherwise the local amenities such as restaurants and bars mean that every mood is catered for. The city has a great night life, many within walking distance.
Our charming building probably built in the nineteenth century, was restored in 2007 -2008 and is one of the many picturesque streets outside the Castle S. Jorge.
The flat has a maximum capacity of 2 people adults and a child (infant 0-3 years old ) .
The apartment has internet access, TV and a lovely view of the street from the French doors at the front of the apartment.
Isabel is from Portugal and Mark is originally from Australia but the both of us live in Oxford in the UK. We travel to the Lisbon and stay apartment often to enjoy the city.
Isabel Fernandes purchased this apartment in 2008
Mark wanted to have an apartment right in the centre of the old town where we could enjoy the full Portuguese lifestyle of the old city. Easy trip from the airport on the metro and within walking distance of bars, restaurants and coffee shops.
So close to the centre of the city, we love to go and enjoy exploring the streets: everytime we go we find something we didnt know existed! Last visit we decided to become experts at presunto!
We had such great time at Isabel and Mark apartment.
Good Location. Amazing city. The host are disponible and very serious. The apartment is well equipped and the patio is lovely.
We highly recommend this flat to spend few nights in Lisboa!
Good apartment in a super location... Having walked through most of the city I wouldn't suggest a better base. The apartment is on the second floor so it'll keep you fit during your stay! Apart is well equipped, great shower however the bed sags (good mattress but the frame needs strengthening). Other than that I would recommend it. There's a wee restaurant downstairs with basic menu but good food and it does take away also. Pizza place down the street is great also. We stayed for a week and spent the last 2 days on the beach to relax after all the walking. Train is so cheap...£2 for a 40 min journey!
This is my first time renting a self catering apartment on holiday. I do not regret it. Fantastic location. I am so glad i chose this apartment.
Short walk from and to Praca de Figueira and Rossio Square. That's where the bus interchange is. Aerobus from the airport stops there too. So transport is not a problem at all. Many small roads lead from the main road up to the roads all road where the apartment is.
There are some steps to climb so please be aware. I got haversacks for myself and m wife, which spared us from having to drag luggage up hill on cobble-stoned streets.
The apartment itself is a cosy studio, with one bedroom at the rear. There is a small balcony at the front of the living room and I enjoyed looking out to see the narrow street and happenings in the opposite block. The kitchen is well equipped with electric stove, kettle, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, oven and microwave. It was fully functional. We actually had to cook a simple meal on the Sunday when we realised that the nearby restaurants we closed. There is also washing machine at the rear end of the apartment, adjacent to an outdoor porch.
Buying groceries was also not a problem as there is a supermarket Pingo Doce a short walk down the slope. There is also a convenience stall along the way to the supermarket if one decides to walk less.
Talking about restaurants, there are quite a few very nearby. There's one right downstairs but we did not eat there eventually. We ate at the Italian restaurant nearby. But really in that area, and right next to Rossio and Praca de Figueira, there are too many cafes and restaurants to choose from.
The location is also convenient to explore Lisbon. Besides buses, the metro is also at Rossio. We walked quite abit. North of Praca de Figueira is Martim Moniz and Restauradores square is next. This leads up to Avenue Liberdade where the designer shops are. One can also walk up to the castle through the small roads from the apartment.
All in all, fantastic location. That is the Bottomline. But that is not all. The landlady, Isabel, is really helpful. She provided maps and guides about the apartment and surroundings upon confirmation of rental. She was also prompt in replies to all my queries about the apartment.
If one does not mind the walking, especially up to the apartment and can forego the luxury hotel stay eg room service, housekeeping etc, then I strongly recommend this apartment for a cosy homely stay in Lisbon
A lovely little apartment, so well placed for getting around, especially once we'd found the short cuts through the stairs and alleys to the main squares. Ideal for the two of us, more would be a bit of a squash. Isabel was very helpful, from the paperwork she sent before our departure with details about finding the apartment, how the appliances worked etc, to being great with our various queries. We definitely highly recommend this.
An apartment with all the trimmings in a pleasant neighborhood.
The apartment is beautifully situated near the Castle and just a 6-minute walk to the city centre (Rossio).
There are steep streets (and steps) that need to be taken to the apartment, but that matters actually for very Lisbon.
Just around the corner, 50 metres away, are a number of small cosy restaurants, where we enjoyed having the local menus and live music. Although there are some pubs/restaurants so close, there is little noise in the night. Really only the collection service for waste.
The owner has sent us for an extensive mail arrival with lots of information and called us, what we have experienced as very pleasant.
In short: this apartment is definitely a must to stay in Lisbon and we would recommend the apartment to anyone!
Thank you Isabel and Mark, we had a great holiday staying in your apartment, it was clean, tidy and very comfortable a real home from home. It came with a good supply of pots and pans so cooking was made easy (when we wanted to eat in and not out). The apartment is in a good central position for getting to the main part of Lisbon - about a 10 min. stroll - and from there you can get public transport (which is good, cheap, efficient and on time!), although most places are within easy walking distance. Dining out was a pleasure and no where was expensive - a 3 course meal with a bottle of wine averaged out at about £38 for the two of us. A week was not long enough to see all that we wanted so we will be back - thanks again.
My husband and I have just returned from a very enjoyable few days in lovely Lisbon. The apartment is an excellent base to explore the city and all it has to offer. It is very central and we found most places of interest to be within walking distance including the metro which will take you further afield. The apartment was very clean and comfortable with everything you would need for your stay. The broadband was a real bonus as it meant we could find out more about the city. Lisbon is not an expensive city. Transport, meals, etc. were all very reasonable, we found. On our last day we took the train to Cascais on the coast and spent a wonderful day there. We found an excellent seafood restaurant for lunch and then just sat soaking up the sun at a beachfront cafe until evening. A real treat at the end of October!
JUNE 11th /12th/13th
The second week of june, its very noisy because of the festivals..
Street entertainment, folk festivities are just some of the events planned for Lisboa’s days and nights throughout the summer.
The historic districts, the cosmopolitan Avenida da Liberdade, as well as the capital’s avenues and streets will all welcome the Lisboa Festivities for all those who live here and those who visit.
All guests need to know this apartment is on the hill so lots of steps, must say Lisbon is beautiful fantastic place.
A short walk down the stairs out the front of the apartment building takes you to the Praça da Figueira where you can sit and have a drink in the square and watch the world go by. This is also where the closest Metro station is situated which gives you access to the entire city and surrounding beach towns.
The Castelo Sao Jorge is located within 5/10 minutes walk of the apartment. Sitting on the hill top overlooking the centre of Lisbon it is one of the must see sites of the city.
There is an abundance of golf course around the city with such as: Lisbon Sports Club, Golf do Estoril and Qunita de Marina.
Fado is the traditional folk music of Portugal and it is highly recommended to visit one of the local establishments.
Start with the following link to see the sites that are easily within walking distance of the apartment which include: Castelo Sao Jorge, São Cristóvão Church, Santa Justa Elevador and the Carmo Convent Ruins.
