Originally from Tennessee and New York, we love art, architecture and the outdoors. We have traveled to many countries but Lake Santeetlah is one of the most beautiful places we know. We love to share our favorite spot with family, friends and people who appreciate beauty and nature.
Lucia Case purchased this house in 2005
I have been coming to Western NC all my life and grew up with a lake house on Lake Ocoee, TN. When we discovered Lake Santeetlah, boated and skiied in the deep coves, hiked in the protected forests and paddled nearby rivers, we knew this was a place to come back to over and over. When we saw the million dollar views from this house and saw how well built, private and comfortable it is, we were sold! At 2000 ft elevation, pristine Lake Santeetlah is 2,800 acres and an only 20% of its 80 miles of shoreline can ever be developed. The lake levels are stable and the lake only drops 10 feet, even in the winter.
We own over 200 ft of shoreline on the main body of the lake and have have a great waterfront for swimming, fishing,or boating. The house is great for all ages, and the bedrooms are spread out for privacy. Includes two living rooms for entertaining ,well-equipped kitchen, separate dining room for 12, outdoor cooking and dining, wood burning fireplace, lots of decks and porches. Game room with pool table, covered porch with large hot tub. Safe and scenic places to walk or jog. Canoe, kayaks and bicycles are toys we like to share.
The property was easy to find and get and well located. The house has plenty of room and rooms for 10 people. The split plan was great for the kids. The views of the lake and mountains were amazing. It was the perfect place for a family vacation for Thanksgiving and the house has everything we needed. The canoes and kayaks were great to take across the lake and go hiking. Very close to town, the Appalachian Trail, and the Tail of the Dragon. We would definitely go back again.
Our family of 9 adults (age 52-88) recently enjoyed a wonderful week on Lake Santeetlah in Lucia's very comfortable home. The home is spacious with plenty of comfy beds for everyone as well as the living room and den downstairs so we never felt crowded. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. We cooked breakfast each morning and supper every evening and enjoyed family meals and many a card game on the lovely breakfast table. The views from every room are breathtaking. Although it was chilly it did not stop us from enjoying the kayaks and the fire pit area below the house. We used the house for "home base" for exploring the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and nearby sites Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, Fontana Dam & the legendary Tail of the Dragon Hwy 129. Lucia was great to work with responding immediately to email questions and providing suggestions. The house is in a lovely, quiet neighborhood so we enjoyed quiet walks & trails she suggested. Our deposit was returned in less than a week of departure. I hope to return to Lake Santeetlah and Lucia's lovely home with my adult kids to enjoy what the summer months have to offer. It is THE PERFECT family retreat.
The two sleeping levels was great for our family. The view of the lake and mountains from every room was spectacular. I especially appreciated the privacy as there was very little lake traffic which was great for our grandchildren using the water toys. The house was equipped with everything that we needed. The week went by too quickly as there were so many more things that we wanted to do.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful views. House very comfortable and had everything we needed. Enjoyed kayaking and swimming in the lake. Visited the Biltmore Estate and zip lined at Nantahala State Park.
This is a large, lovely home with magnificent views. It was perfect for getting together with my college age sons and their girlfriends, and also for some personal retreat time which I had after everyone else left. There are great places to walk or boat, and many private spots to relax. The kids enjoyed the canoes a lot. We all had a wonderful time, and could gather or spread out as we wanted. You won't find a nicer place for a mountain vacation.
The house is enormous with tons of beds. There were 9 of us and we never felt crowded. We spent a lot of time playing pool and hanging out in the Jacuzzi. The kayaks and canoe were great, half of us would go hang out on the lake at a time. We love Lake Santeetlah and this was a great house to stay at. Lucia was always in touch with us and very helpful.
