ATTRACTIONS:
On the reserve, guests may explore nature on guided horse rides. They may also walk along well marked trails, observing the abundant bird and animal life in safety, as we have no dangerous animals on the reserve. Big Five game viewing can also be arranged in the vicinity. We have access to nearby reserves which offer day drives.
Besides relaxing on the beach, the guests may be taken on Ocean and River cruises, Deepsea and river fishing, horse rides along the beach as well as any number of sporting activities.
The avid golfer has a choice of four first-class golf courses in the vicinity of the property, each affording a unique view of the region.
Tandem skydiving is offered in nearby Grahamstown for the more adventurous. This affords a glorious birds eye view combined with a rush of adrenalin. Sunset flights along the coastline and home over Tenuta Spring Grove bring the day to a perfect close.
The area:
Villa Spring Grove is situated midway between Kenton on Sea and Grahamnstown - approximately 90 minutes from Port Elizabeth. Kenton's natural paradise lies between two tidal rivers, the Bushmans and Kariega, and offers beaches voted the best in the country. Apart from the obvious swimming & snorkelling, both rivers offer superb fishing, boating, sailing, water-skiing and wind-surfing.
Boats are available for hire for cruising up the rivers and for fitter individuals canoe trails are available.The seafront comprises calm estuaries, sheltered rocky coves and long expanses of pristine sand. Visitors can explore the rocky pools of Middle-Beach; catch the dumpers at Shelley Beach or collect shells on a gentle stroll on the beach. Horse trails are also available at Kenton.
The Villa is also within easy reach of many world-renowned Malaria-free game reserves like the Addo Elephant Park , Shamwari, Pumba, Kariega, Sibuya, Amakala, Lalibela, Kwandwe. Many of these have been established along the upper reaches of Kenton's rivers. The unspoiled riverine bush is renowned for its bird-life and adds another dimension to the beauty of the region, which forms part of the South African Whale Route. Bird watching is most rewarding in this part of the Eastern Cape, with horse riding trails through indigenous Milkwood forests.
