Why Alecia Armstrong chose Plymouth

Centrally located between Killington & Okemo. We are in the heart of Vermont off historic Route 100. What sets us apart are our large bedrooms with high quality linens, down comforters, and 100% Egyptian cotton towels.

What makes this house unique

Wake up every morning to a gorgeous view of the lake no matter what season. Swimming/kayaking/hiking in summer, ice skating/snowmobiling/ice fishing in winter.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Alecia :-)

Thank you for the lovely stay at your “homey cottage!” We enjoyed playing on the lake, fishing and paddling! We observed ducklings and young ducks up the creek! Children were thrilled coming up on turtles basking in the sun on logs. Several fires were enjoyed with a blaze of laughter and warmth. And Nana had a sleepover in the open-air loft with story time & giggles to the hum of nighttime critters. Our meals grilled on outdoor grates with evening meals shared around the large table on the porch below twinkling lights!! Enjoyment for all was had!! :-)

Fantastic Winter Rental

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have rented many homes through VRBO and this house is easily our favorite. This house has a character and warmth that can only be created by an owner who clearly loves this house. The furniture and decor have a vintage vibe, with a mix of old and new. As the description states, it is definitely not "cookie cutter." The beds are very comfortable, the wireless works well, and the kitchen has everything a family could possibly need. The five bedrooms are huge and the house has both upstairs and downstairs living areas. It's the perfect layout for families with children, or multiple families renting together. It is in a great location for a sking getaway.....20 min to Killington/Pico, and 15 min to Okemo. The location on Amherst lake is picturesque and there are some beautiful snow shoeing trails in plymouth state park which is 1 mile away. The owners are extremely helpful and are quick to respond to any questions. This home truly felt like our home away from home. We feel so lucky to have found such a gem of a house.

Owner's Response: Thank you Anne and Co. It was such a pleasure having you and I look forward to your return next year. It's interesting that you chose the word "gem" to describe your experinece of the cottage because so many people tell me that! Now I am off to buy a new waffle maker so you can have great waffles next year.

Wonderful Winter Weekend

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful weekend at the cottage in Plymouth. It was a lovely setting, looking out over the lake. The furnishings were tastefully selected, the beds were extremely comfortable and there were plenty of supplies to make the stay enjoyable. It was just a perfect Vermont vacation. I loved the cottage, as did my sons and grandchildren. We skied and snowboard at Okemo which was about 15 minutes away. We are all looking forward to our return visit to the cottage this summer.

Owner's Response: Thanks Hope. We are looking forward to your return this summer. I think you will find it a very different experience from winter to summer which makes it all so unique. I can't wait until you can experience the big screened-in porch over looking the lake!

Relaxing Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with a group of 10 at this rental for 2 nights. It had everything we needed for a nice relaxing weekend. It was nice to have the courts, lounge area, kayaks and the lake all on the property so everyone could try different activities. Our group especially liked sitting around the fireplace or the fire pit and going out on the lake with kayaks. Great stay, comfy beds and clean sheets. Will likely stay here again. Thanks Alecia for being so accommodating.

Owner's Response: Thank you Karen! I loved having your group stay as well. My husband and I always use rental by owner when we travel and take note about what we really liked about a rental. High quality sheets and bed linens are a must! We recently bought all new down pillows and down comforters that arrived the beginning of October. Can't wait to have you back! Alecia

The "all season" cottage

  • 5 of 5

Our family ranging from 2 months to 78 years stayed for two weeks in August 2013 and had such a wonderful, invigorating and relaxing experience we decided to return this winter... we were just as delighted.

First, the cottage has the warmth you feel in the home of an old friend. It is spacious, comfortable and cozy. It accommodates big family meals and quite private time to read and nap. Its proximity to Ludlow is convenient. It has all of the amenities but has the character and charm of the quintessential Vermont lakehouse that it is.

In summer the lake is the center of daily life. Early morning walks or runs around the lake are followed by swimming and kayaking. Wonderful large family meals in the evening on the screened porch overlooking the lake were followed by late nights talking by the outside fire. Over the two weeks we ventured off to hike the surrounding mountains, visited Cal Coolidge's home down the road, Ben and Jerry's and the Long Trail brewery for lunch. Harry's Cafe is a local favorite that we recommend for dinner. Its casual and families are made welcome.

After such a great summer experience we decided to return for a long winter weekend with kids and grandkids to ski at Killington and Okemo. The temperature was 5 degrees (but it's a dry cold). Again, the cottage was warm, comfortable with every accommodation. This time we had inside fires and there was about two feet of snow surrounding the house. We walked and ran around the lake which is picture perfect in the snow. The kids snowboarded and skied while some of us took to the cross country trails.

When we ended our summer vacation, every member of our family that can speak said it was the best vacation they have ever experienced... the jury is still out with the two-month-old but we're pretty sure he will agree, as we plan to return for future vacations.

The best time!

  • 5 of 5

We are 5 couples who always travel together and this was my turn to arrange the trip. The cottage exceeded expectations and made me look really good. There was plenty of space. We felt at home, the owner created an atmosphere that was inviting and provided us with everuthing to make our stay completly enjoyable. Everything from a corkscrew to a coffee maker in a well- well equipped kitchen was there for us. it was like being in a bed and breakfast. We WILL be back! BP

Quintessential Family vacation!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, three boys, our golden retriever and I shared a special week of family and fun at this cottage! This was our seventh year renting in the Ludlow/Plymouth lake region and this cottage was the best by far! Plenty of room for college boys, their friends and extended family in the clean and cozy cottage. It offers the 'coziness' of a lake cottage while also offering lots of room for everyone to have their own favorite 'comfy spot'--from the sleeping porch, to the rocking chairs, to the hammock by the water, we all had our favorites. But then everyone was able to gather together around the big farm table on the screened porch and enjoy a great meal prepared in the 'fully stocked' kitchen! While there is much to do close by (Jackson Gore recreation, lots of shopping, Long Trail Brewery, great biking) we were happy to just hang out at the cottage. The waterfront was very relaxing and we kayaked, went swimming at the floating dock, and had many enjoyable nights in front of the firepit!! Kayaks, PFD's and firewood provided by the owner, who was very accomodating and easy to work with! What you see in the pictures is what you get! This is a quintessential Vermont vacation!! We are sure to go back again next summer!
