ANNIE'S COTTAGE

Dingle Peninsula Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Two stone cottages, 'ANNIES', sleeping 6 and 'RIVER', sleeping 4 , near Inch

River Farm comprises two cottages for rental - ANNIES COTTAGE, sleeping 6 and one of the most popular holiday cottages in Kerry and RIVER COTTAGE, sleeping 4 - an original Kerry Farmhouse that has been lovingly renovated and updated over the last ten years. Both cottages are surrounded by fields and a small stream runs through the property. It is very safe for children as both cottages are approached via a small ‘dead end’ lane which runs up to the mountain behind the cottages. The owners fields are occupied by pet sheep and lambs (in season), together with donkeys and free range hens. Views of the sea are possible from the garden as well as from Annie’s Cottage. Inch Beach with it's four miles of white sand and dunes(and increasingly a surfing and paragliding mecca) is no more than 15 minutes drive, whilst the beauty of Killarney National Park and it's lakes are also within easy reach. A local grocery shop (8am to 10pm, daily) is only 10 mins. walk away. Dogs are welcome.

Proximity to the best Kerry attractions and sites: Annie's Cottage is ideally situated for Killarney National Park, and the Kerry Way, the Dingle Peninsula and Tralee.

A 30 minute drive will allow you to visit Muckross House, the famous Killarney Lakes, Angel Falls, Ross Castle, the old Copper mInes, the Gap of Dunloe and Kate Kearney's Cottage as well as walk throughout the beautiful meadows, mountains and woods of Killarney National Park.

From Killarney you can embark on the Kerry Way by foot or cycle or drive to the end of the Ring of Kerry (and back) visiting Killorglin, Glebeigh, Caherciveen, Valentia Island, Waterville, Caherdaniel, Sneem and Kenmare - a memorable journey indeed.

Similar excursions by car and foot can take place on the Dingle Peninsular discovering the wild scenery, breathtaking mountain passes and white sandy beaches. This peninsular also has the highest concentration of megalithic sites in Europe.

A catalogue of festivals - food, music, culture, film and horseracing - take place throughout the year

Guestbook comments from the manager
We're sitting in the wonderful evening sun at the back of the cottage - it is very hard to imagine being back in Germany by tomorrow evening.

And nobody wants to be back! - because home has been here for the last two weeks. We had such a wonderful time here, seeing lots of Kerry's beautiful landscape and attractions, eating loads of fish & chips or seafood chowder and doing some nice local market shopping (Milltown Farmers Market on saturdays is highly recommended).

But the best thing was always coming "home" to Annie's Cottage in the evenings. Little Henri would start shouting for 'his' Yala (our dog) as soon as we entered the blue gates and then he would do his 'inspection round' to say hello to the sheep & donkeys.

And in the mornings, Henri wouldn't sit down for breakfast before he had seen Jasmine (our cat) sitting at the window, wishing us a good morning.

Thank you very much for letting us stay at your wonderful place and for being so kind and welcoming the whole time! We will never forget our stay here and as we keep returning to Ireland every 2-3 years, it is very likely we are going to stay with you again. All the best.

RELAXING WEEK

  • 5 of 5
River Cottage was exactly as advertised. Very clean and a comfortable base from which to explore Dingle and Killarney. The owners were very helpful when we discovered the plug adaptor we had borrowed before leaving home did not work. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who likes a cottage vacation.

ANNIE'S COTTAGE WAS A WEEK OF CHARM AND COMFORT!!!

Annie's Cottage was a week of charm and comfort!!!
  • 5 of 5
My wife Malissa and I spent 6 months planning our Ireland holiday. We searched almost every place we could think of looking for the perfect place to stay during our Dingle portion of the trip. We found Annie's cottage and contacted Nick about staying for a week. He was very accommodating and helpful. When we arrived, Nick greeted us and made us feel more than welcome. He offered us the run of the property and introduced us to his family and all the animals. The cottage is very cozy and has an old world charm about it. We checked on the ewes and their new lambs every morning and fed the donkeys carrots at least twice a day. We chose Annie's cottage as a good central location to stay the nights. But, it immediately became a highlight of our trip to the Dingle penninsula!
Thank You Nick & Annie!!!!!

A MAGICAL STAY ON THE DINGLE PENINSULA

  • 5 of 5
We had a memorable stay at Annie's Cottage. the cottage is cosy and warm; the setting is perfect whether in rain or shine. We pottered around the gardens, walked along Inch Beach, went for a drive to Kenmare and explored the shops and pubs in Dingle. The fish and chip lunch in one of the pubs at the top of Goat Street was to die for.
Thanks to Anne and Nick for their time, help and advice, and for sharing their wine.

Owner's Response: Actually, good Fish & Chips is not something that is too hard to find around here as we are surrounded by sea and still have a small fishing fleet based in Dingle to bring in all the fresh fish, DAILY.

Glad you enjoyed your time at 'Annie's'. We loved the fun company!

COMFORTABLE AND BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED COTTAGE.

  • 5 of 5
The cottage is beautifully appointed and the attention to detail is excellent, from providing little touches such as washing powder and a huge selection of dvds to the beautiful hand made quilts on the beds. The views are superb and the donkeys and dogs added the finishing touch..perfect!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind comments. We Do try and think through the little things that guests appreciate and provide them. There are too many holiday homes that are all 'holiday' (bare, no character, no frills) and no 'home' (comfortable, cosy, lots of books, films, music, views and fab scenery). Annie's Cottage is an extension of our own home and there for everyone to enjoy.

A LITTLE BIT OF WINTER HEAVEN!

  • 5 of 5
Bottom line? I can't wait to go back!! Annie's Cottage is warm and very cosy, but not small. The kitchen, with a table that seats 8, is very well equipped and the sitting room is most comfortable. There were ample games and DVDs etc for the long winter evenings - although to be honest with Dingle only a 30 minute drive away we were happy to spend our evenings in Dingle pubs and bars listening to the music! Inch Beach is a 7 minute drive from the cottage and every morning should start with a walk along the miles of sand, and looking out to sea. Inch Beach must be one of the most beautiful beaches in the UK. In short, this is a perfect place for a winter break and I thoroughly recommend it!

Owner's Response: Thanks for that! Inch Beach (our local 'footpath and swimming pool') is certainly the most beautiful beach in Ireland (not sure about UK!). Yes, whilst Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula is not exactly milling with people in the summer, the off season and winter months definitely have a wonderful sense of solitude and wonder here. The scenery is wild and the people as friendly as they get.

The heating of hot water and radiators is metered and is charged at 3 euros per unit. An average 'summer week' would utilise an average of 5-6 units (15-18 euros per week). Electricity is also paid for via a meter and averages 6-8 euros per week. Cooking is also via an electric hob and oven. Any kitchen waste and refuse can be given to the owners for disposal at the end of the rental term although we do ask that guests separate glass, newspapers, tins and plastic for recycling. A washing machine and separate dryer is provided, together with a washing line to dry clothes, as well as a drying rack for indoors. Secure private parking for up to three cars is available off road and next to the cottage.
