The main town in Aegina is an attractive seaside town with low level neoclassical buildings and a relaxed, laid back feel. The house is in a quiet neighbourhood, two streets back from the seafront, and is well placed to access shops, tavernas and the town beach. Around the house are narrow streets where children play, and small low level 'spitakia' with jasmine and bougainvillea, and gardens planted with citrus trees. This is a 'real' neighbourhood, not a tourist trap! A short stroll (less than 100 m) will take you to the nearest beach, which is sandy. From here you can walk along the sea front into the centre of town, past traditional wooden fishing boats and modern yachts. The town is of a good size, and there are plenty of places to eat, and cafes at which to pass the time of day. The streets are mostly narrow and some parts are pedestrianised, and it can be very pleasant to explore these back alleys. Cars and bikes are available for hire. Athens/Aegina is 30 mins. by hydrofoil.
