Very nice place overall, with a few concerns

  • 4 of 5
We just recently stayed in the Yellow Box for my wife's birthday and I agree with another reviewer that said the pictures don't do it justice. It's not much to look at from the outside, but it is enormous on the inside and it's got that "wow" factor when you walk in it. Great decor with I guess a rustic kind of look, nice leather couches, a big dining room table and a great kitchen. The deck is enormous, has hot tube and a gas grill with a gas line running to it which is awesome. The game room is very cool, a big bar, huge TV and all kinds of bar games that you see listed in the description. All in all, this place is great, the description is very accurate and I recommend it.

Now for the concerns. The AC never seem to really cool the place down and that was probably the biggest problem of the weekend (this kept me from giving it a 5 star rating). This was a weekend where 85 degrees was the high so I can't imagine how much the AC unit would struggle on a 100 degree day. The second night was a little better but I still never saw it get below 73 downstairs. It wasn't the end of the world, but most people in our party complained about it being hot at night.

Another problem was there seemed to be a leak somewhere in the downstairs bathroom between the two bedrooms. It seemed like it was a known issue because a small bucket was place under the sink pipe. However, as a result, all of the towels and washcloths from that bathroom were wet. It was not a big deal, just something the owner probably needs to know about to fix before it causes more damage.

The only other thing was the Jacuzzi. We didn't use it at all actually, but I pulled the cover off to check it out. I could visibly see some dirt etc in various places in the hot tub. I just feel like this is worth mentioning because you actually have to pay a fee for the Jacuzzi cleaning and if you can see that a tub is not clean, it's probably really not clean so i'm wondering if that cleaning actually takes place between each guest.

One last recommendation for future renters, the cots in the game room are as comfortable as most cots normally are. I sort of expected this, but we ended up having a couple of adults having to sleep upstairs on them and they did not sleep well. So in the future I wouldn't plan on having so many people if it meant I had to ask some people to sleep upstairs. We didn't have kids with us, but it would be perfect for letting the kids stay up there.

The Yellow Box was Great

  • 5 of 5
The pictures definitely do not do this place justice. It is massive. Five couples stayed here for Memorial Day weekend and it could not have been more comfortable or convenient.

It was only two miles from Aqua Yacht marina that provided boat rentals, restaurants, and night life. It was right down the street from the water too which made loading and unloading our rental pontoon very easy.

The upstairs game room had a full fridge, wet bar, pool table, air hockey, basket ball hoop, and a big screen tv. The back porch was enormous with a gas grill (gas provided) and a big hot tub.

Can't wait to get back there

Home away from Home

  • 4 of 5
Gorgeous property! It was a home away from home. It was comfortable for the amount of people we had. We all had personal space. Tons of things to do without the leaving the cabin. Would go there again. Only complaints is the lack of hot water, running toilet on main floor, and having to drive 15 minutes away to dispose if trash.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review!
The hot water should not run out, we have 2on demand tankless Bosch system. They do operate differently. Understand the garbage is sometimes a pain, we are looking into offering a take off service for guest in the future.
Again, thanks for staying with us.

Great Cabin!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed for a weekend here in Aug 2013 for a guys' getaway trip. The photos of this cabin do not do it justice, it was much larger than even the pictures lead you to believe! Great patio space, kitchen, and huge open layout. The gameroom upstairs was awesome and we'd recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area to consider this property. It dwarfs anything around its immediate vicinity. We'll return one day.

Today, you can dive into the history of the world's most famous sheriff who certainly 'Walked Tall'.
