Water, water, water...:
The house is a modern beach cottage, too small for a representative villa, too big for a normal house. It has the right size for a family with children or e.g. grandparents with children and/or grandchildren. Other groups feel at ease here, also, but have to make arrangements for the occupation of the bedrooms, since 2 bedrooms share a bathroom, while the other it a little more luxurious. At one side, 200 m distant is a fine sandy, plain an especially not-crowded beach. You can walk to the Junkanoo-Bar, in the evenings for the sunset, during the day for a pizza, a jetski, parasailing, or a round of volleyball. This is the companionable choice, about 50 m further down. At the other side of the street the lovely canals, where the kids like to go fishing, start. The surrounding streets are quiet streets with mixed constructions. Here there are old, small, flat Florida-cottages, new stilt-homes etc.
Neighbourhood:
You are living in a grown surrounding , no skyskrapers, no modern appartment complexes, but the fire department, the Redcoconut-Campground, the beach bar and, as the newest highlight, a library nearby. The water is 15-200 m away at both sides, this means only 4-5 houses are between you and the beach resp. canal, from the terrace you can see the canal’s water through the trees.
Free time activities:
Naturally all water sports, bicycle rental, moped rental etc. nearby. On the island itself you do not need a car, you can cover everything by bicycle or moped, which is recommended during high season because of traffic. Excursions from the northern end to Key West, to the Everglades, with the Casino ship, for open sea fishing there are hydrofoils and other possibilities available directly on the island. Boat rental at the edges of the island and in other marinas nearby. The whole surrounding is made up of small islands, where everyone will find a special hideaway. Canoeing tours from Hendrycreek at the US 41 to the Lovers-Key-National-Park are very nice. In the national park there are guides hiking tours with explanations of the stingrays, the turtles, mussles, fish and plants. Excursions to the farther surrounding start from Sanibel to the Everglades to Miami, the Keys and of course Orlando, which are all day excursions.
