HISTORIC VICTORIAN HOUSE, LUSH GARDENS, TWO ACRE PINOT NOIR VINEYARDS

Boonville House Rental Photos and Description

5 bedroom 1880 Victorian house with pool, vineyard, large lawn and gardens.

Wightman House is a 12 acre estate with a historic Victorian house, pool, and fish-friendly vineyard with its grapes producing its own designate wine (MacPhail Family Wines). The first floor of the house has a beautiful living room with grand piano, dining room, large kitchen and attached family sitting area. There is a temperature controlled wine room and guest bedroom suite in the back. There are three bedrooms on the second floor with a modern full bath. On the attic level is a bedroom with a bathroom. The pool is next to a small cottage where our caretaker lives. We don't heat the pool but it's wonderful in the summer. The gorgeous barn with two barn studios is next to the two acre vineyard with Pinot Noir grapes. There is an agricultural pond and large field with solar panels next to the long allée of trees lining the driveway. In front of the Victorian house is a long lawn bordered with perennials and fruit trees, and graced by a sculpture. The end of the lawn leads through an arbor to a wooded area. A hammock area and a bordering creek complete the complex.

Suitability:
  • children welcome

Lee worked for Apple and Yoriko serves on the board of Midpeninsula Regional Open Space Board of Directors.

Yoriko Kishimoto purchased this house in 2010

Lee is a 4th generation Californian and grew up in Vacaville, knowing of this magical valley. Yoriko works with farms and open space on the Peninsula and is delighted to practice fish friendly agriculture! We love the community up here as much as the beauty of the valley. This estate was previously owned by John Scharffenberger who pioneered the champagnes of Anderson Valley by entertaining buyers here.

This is our 'family farm' but get to enjoy it just a couple weekends out of every month. We are glad to share this beautiful place one weekend a month or so.

Wonderful Seclusion in the Heart of Anderson Valley

  • 5 of 5
This property is a real treat. It is perfectly secluded so that you feel as if you are a million miles away from it all, but are perfectly located between Philo and Boonville just off of 128 with no noise or indication that you are even close to anyone else. We spent most of our time on the large lawn having picnics, roasting s'mores, playing baseball and catch with the kids. It was a perfect getaway and was great for entertaining.

Relaxing Retreat

  • 5 of 5
Our group of 10 just returned from a wonderful weekend stay at the Wightman House -- what a beautiful property! The photos don't do it justice. The house was incredibly spacious, and the grounds so well maintained. It was a great house for a larger group, and we all agreed we'd like to come back. The owner's were very responsive and easy to work with. I hope it's warmer next time, so that we can take advantage of the pool!

Stunning property, spacious, cozy, private retreat

  • 5 of 5
I agree with all the previous comments. This property is truly magical! The grounds are stunning and even more beautiful than the pictures show. The home has a spacious floor plan, yet cozy and homey with every amenity you could possibly want! We hope to make this an annual trip and look forward to staying here again! Yoriko is great and very responsive, and the on-site care taker is wonderful as well! Highly recommended for just about any occasion.

The perfect getaway house

  • 5 of 5
Each year a group of close friends get together to celebrate New Year and get caught up. It requires a house that invites long discussions in a main area and a big kitchen for lots of cooking. This house was all those things and more. It is a wonderful house for unplugging and enjoying a walk in the evening or just sitting outside with a good book. Each room has enough room for each guest to enjoy. The main room with the big fire place was our favorite spot to hang out. While you are visiting there is plenty to do and see like wineries and little shops along the main street. You may want to purchase the bulk of your food while in the city because things run out. You can get great meat at the local store called Lemons but it's not a big store. I plan to rent this house again and recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to turn off and enjoy a country setting.

Perfect Country Estate for Get-Aways

  • 5 of 5
I have stayed at the property on several occasions and agree with the previous reviewers - what a gem of a find! If you are looking for a relaxing weekend in the area (or anywhere in the wine country north of San Francisco), I highly recommend this property - when we found hard to leave once we arrived. We were traveling with our toddler, and appreciated the large open space in front of the house, the pool, the outdoor BBQ area, and the endless "nature walks" we took on the property. At one point we realized we never got out for wine tasting (one of your goals for the weekend) as we were having so much fun on the property! The feel is hard to describe - like being invited to a friend's country estate for a weekend get-away - the land has that magical feel of place and history. (I believe this was the Scharffen Berger family home at one point.) A true Victorian homestead in the wine country. The owners are wonderful people, and really care about the property - and your experience of it - so I found the whole experience to be wonderful. We've had good luck with VBRO - and this gem is now on top of our list for Bay Area get-aways!

Top notch Anderson Valley wineries and brewery nearby including one within walking distance! Boonville, the 'little town with big charm' (Sunset Magazine) is just two miles down the country road. Anderson Valley is a hidden Shangri-La - a valley so beautiful yet still unspoiled, different pace of life, a community of artists, winemakers and farmers. Come to unwind, go wine tasting, visit the coast, go swimming or lay in hammock under the oak trees in peace.
