INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
During High Season we live in the house. We offer pick up and return to the airport and are available to help guests with directions, recommendations, and assist with anything that comes up. The remainder of the year we have a house manager, Ramon Avila, who does check in and check out, and is available to assist with any issues that might arise.
We live up the street from a rustic, traditional Mexican neighborhood, at the top of a hill. There are two other rental homes at the top, all frequently rented as it is a safe, comfortable environment.
Sayulita is a walkable community and you can easily walk to the beach and the village from our house. If you wish to visit other towns, such as San Pancho, there's a bus at the foot of the hill, or taxis. At the times we are not there to pick you up, you can take a taxi or the bus to Sayulita from the Puerto Vallarta airport.
We now have A/C in both the master bedroom and the casita, however, since electricity is very expensive in Mexico, there is a surcharge if you use the A/C to excess. Specifics will be in the rental agreement and email communication.
In 2006 we visited Sayulita for the first time, fell in love with it and bought the lot our house now stands on. We live in Buffalo, NY, and spend January to May of each year at our house. Cal is a retired school administrator and I am a Public Relations Consultant. When we are in Sayulita we rent the casita, and when we're in the States we rent the house and the casita. Over the past six years we've thoroughly enjoyed the people we've met through renting, and now count many of them among our friends.
Donna Evans-Deyermond purchased this studio in 2007
We think the location of Casa Viliano is ideal. The village of Sayulita offers lots of restaurants and entertainment, but retains a true Mexican flavor. The north end of the beach is quiet and peaceful, while the village end offers more excitement. If you are reasonably fit, you don't need a car to get to the village or beach from the house -- and the views from the terraces at night are spectacular!
In addition to location, location, location, at Casa Viliano you can take yoga classes, rent a surf board or a kayak, arrange for surf lessons, or set up a fishing trip. If you are staying at our casita while the house is occupied, you have complete privacy on your own terrace. We also supply beach chairs and beach umbrellas, and -- since we like to cook -- our kitchens are well stocked with Calphalon pots, Fiesta Ware dishes, and sharp knives. Complimentary pick up at the Puerto Vallarta airport is available from January to May for guests who book a week or longer.
My family just returned from a week staying in Sayulita. We rented both Casa Viliano and the Casita below the casa. The casa provided two large bedrooms, living, dining, kitchen and deck - all very ample spaces! The casita was a perfect addition as we needed three bedrooms. We rented a golf cart for exploring the town, but you really did not need it as the town and beaches were only a 10 minute walk from the property (but the golf cart was fun!). The casa and casita both are very beautiful, and Ramon (the manager) was easily accessible and very helpful with taxis, tours, etc. I would highly recommend Casa Viliano and the Casita for a large family or multiple couples.
We are a couple in our mid 50s. We stayed at Casita Viliano for a week in January and loved it. Cal and Donna are great hosts and a real bonus for us was that they picked us up at the airport and took us back to the airport at no cost - what a treat! The casita is in a quiet residential neighbourhood about a 10 minute walk from the main square and the busy town beach or 10 minutes in the opposite direction to the quiet north end of the beach, which is lovely. The road up to the casita is quite steep and I wouldn't recommend it for someone who has difficulty walking. We loved the walk to the casita as it lead us past some very local homes, with the dogs, the chickens, roosters, and always a few kids waving to us as we walked past. The casita is well equipped and very comfortable for two. The private patio is wonderful and peaceful with a view out over the trees. The sounds are great - lots of birds! The pool is small, but perfect for a quick dip on a hot day. We swam in the ocean, surfed, went to the local film festival, walked along the beach and rented bikes one day and rode to Punta Mita. We love Sayulita and we loved Casita Viliano - thanks Donna and Cal!
My fiance and I had a wonderful 10-day trip to Sayulita. It was our first time to Sayulita and we loved calling Casita Viliano home during our visit. Cal and Donna were wonderful hosts, friendly and attentive to our needs while providing us with quiet and privacy. The Casita offered quality furnishing and linens and a well-appointed kitchen, though we chose to eat most of our meals in town. We absolutely loved the large terrace for sipping morning coffee, relaxing after an afternoon at the beach and star-gazing at night. We also appreciated the beach towels, chairs and umbrella that we used each afternoon when we walked down to the beach.
The Casita is in a neighborhood and less than a 10-minute walk from the town square and beach. It is perched on a hill which provides beautiful views of the village. We liked the feeling of being part of the village. There were great restaurants and always some street entertainment in the square at night.
Casita Viliano was a perfect place for our getaway. Thanks Cal and Donna!
My 17 year old daughter and I stayed at Casita Viliano in Sayulita for 5 days and thoroughly enjoyed everything about the accommodations. Staying on the north side of Sayulita was an excellent decision: we were very close to town (less than 10 minute easy walk), yet just far enough away so the night time music from the beach front bars never kept us awake. It was a busy time of year in Sayulita yet very quiet and peaceful at the Casita.
The beds were super comfortable and the kitchen, though small, was more than adequate for preparing meals. The tile and stonework in the Casita and on the deck were very attractive, as was the beautiful landscaping. Because the Casita is just below the main house we had full access to the swimming pool. Lounging at the pool was the perfect way to relax after our daily surf camp with "Wildmex".
Cal and Donna, who own Casita Villiano did everything and more to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. They were always helpful, very friendly, and are just super nice people.
The surf camp at Wildmex was superb. We had Risa for our instructor and she did a great job of taking us to different breaks and really showing us more of the area than just the Sayulita beach.
Once again my visit to Casa Viliano was a wonderful experience. As before, the weather was fantastic and the accomodations were clean and inviting. The hosts an even the cleaning and maintenance staff were easy and pleasant to commnicate with. As beautiful as the listing photos are, to be there in person enjoying the changes from dawn to the sunsets at dusk is the 'real life' impression that lasts forever. Whether hopping a ride or walking to the village center there are always numerous great restaurants, shops, fiestas or parades such as last years 'Sayulita Days' that emerse you in the local culture. The beaches are clean and you can always enjoy the surfing crowd or occasional whale sighting. With three visits over the last few years that alone is a great recomendation to join myself and many others in visiting Casa Viliano.
I don’t know whether it was luck or the consequences of good karma that led me to the charming Casa Viliano in Sayulita, a beautiful and welcoming bit of Mexico just north of Puerto Vallarta. In any event I was fortunate to stay at the casa for just over a month while I waited for my condo to be completed in a neighboring town. Donna and Cal, the proprietors of Casa Viliano, have spared little in making their home warm, inviting and a pleasure in which to spend time.
The casa is located in town, a short five minutes or so walk from the zocalco (town square) and an even closer walk to the beaches for which Sayulita is renowned.
Their home is a charming one bedroom south facing affair perched on a hillside overlooking the town. It comes equipped with all the amenities one would expect including maid service, pool, a completely equipped kitchen, TV, etc., all set within a tastefully designed piece of paradise. An added plus was being able to appreciate the professional photographs and paintings that adorn the walls and which helped to set a tone of casual elegance. Donna and Cal have retained a couple to act as property managers and who live locally and have extensive knowledgeable of the village, excursions and other things in which a tourist may have interest; more importantly than the property manager’s knowledge of the area and its many attractions is the fact that I found them immediately responsive in handling a minor issue during my stay. To say that they went above and beyond what was expected would be an understatement.
Bottom line, my time at the Casa Viliano was pleasant, peaceful and quite enjoyable and I would unhesitatingly recommend it as a place to stay in Sayulita.
Sayulita is a fishing/surfing village with numerous restaurants and lovely beaches. Visitors will enjoy the many attractions for tourists -- including jungle tours and zip-lining, yoga, and surf competitions -- mixed with the culture of a traditional Mexican town. Nearby San Pancho and Nuevo Vallarta offer golf, there are Petroglyphs to be seen in San Marco, and a number of authentic Mexican markets to visit. You can take yoga classes; or rent a surf board or kayak, or take surf lessons or go on a fishing trip. For bookings of one week or more, complimentary pick up at the Puerto Vallarta airport is available January to May.
