I guess I've been in love with the West for as long as I can remember. I grew up with stories of my Father's childhood on ranches in the Roaring Fork Valley of Western Colorado, before tractors came to that country. My Mother's Father was a book and record collector and had a wonderful collection of Western History and Art Literature.
In the last 36 years I've worked as a Ranch Hand, Range Rider, Horse Shoer, House Carpenter, Dude Wrangler, Hunting Guide and last but not least a Camp Cook. I've been doing pencil and pen drawings for most of that time. I've also, been playing guitar and writing songs for about 25 years now, which still surprises me?
My wife, Nancy and I live on the ranch, we raise hay, Skipper W Quarter Horses and Hell once in a while!
Come and see us! Ross

My husband, daughter and I couldn't have been more pleased with the meticulously clean, large ranch house where we stayed with a great view of Grand Mesa. The herd of horses and the incredibly friendly and hospitable hosts made this a truly special stay. We will not forget the views from wide windows, the nuzzles from friendly horses, the cowboy stories and songs and the warmth that this wondrous place held. We cannot wait to return.
We have never stayed in a vrbo as CLEAN and quiet as this house. It was so cool to watch the horses out the picture window every time I looked up from my knitting. The parking lot at Skywayon Grand Mesa for cross country skiing was a very scenic 30 mile drive away. This is a place we hope to return to again. The owners are helpful and nice. The two car garage was a luxury allowing our son to practice unicycling after dark. He is the world trials unicycle champion. Here's an example of his riding:
My daughter and I loved the western ambiance and beautiful vistas here. The house is a spacious one level ranch with beautiful views. It is a genuine ranch with hay, horses, barns, corrals, a wood shop and wildlife crossing the meadows. It was the perfect place for enjoying peace and quiet, reading, writing, sketching, and just plain relaxing. We admired the owner's original art work and handcrafted log furniture. This is a special and unique place to stay, the hosts are wonderful, we would definitely stay again in the future!
My friend and I met up for a girl's weekend at the ranch, and it was absolutely perfect. The house was immaculate, with plenty of space and had everything we needed for cooking our own meals. We had a chance to explore the beautiful landscape during the day, and enjoy a star filled sky in the evenings. We would definitely come back here!
I rented this home to accommodate family for the occasion of my wedding and could't have been more pleased! It is immaculate and feels welcoming and just like "home". I appreciate you! Nancy, and am sorry that I did not meet Ross. It was such a pleasure to meet you! and your delightful son. I loved the view of the changing autumn colors on the Grand Mesa. Thank You!
This place is great. The pictures don't do it justice, because pictures can't capture the view, the open space, the peacefulness and specialness of a ranch like this. It's an authentic horse ranch with an unbelievable, enormous valley view with Grand Mesa on the horizon. All this grandness is in front of you as you sit on the comfortable front porch of the house, and you also see it out the huge front windows inside the house. Every room in the house has fantastic views as well. Nancy is a down-to-earth sweetheart. She helped us get settled, then we had complete privacy. The home's rooms are large and comfortable, with a rustic theme. As for the outside, the horses came up from their enormous pasture to the fence across the driveway from the house. There were also 4 little ones, one only 2 months old who stayed close to momma, but was right in front of us as we stood at the fence to see them. They were so calm that we could pet them. It was precious and authentic Colorado. Even my dog slept well here. Another plus was that my elderly mom had a bathroom equipped with grab bars so she could easily maneuver. In a heartbeat without giving it a second thought, I'd stay here again and recommend it to anyone. It's funny because when I first read the description on-line, before coming here, I actually wondered if we'd be corralled outside to sit around the campfire and sing songs like in a movie. To the contrary, this is not a contrived Hollywood dude ranch. It's a real ranch. You experience however much or little of it that you want to. If the house was in a city, it would still be a great house to rent. The fact that it's on a horse ranch in a terrifically beautiful part of Western Colorado makes it that much more special. The ranch is a short jaunt out of Delta and very easy to find. I loved everything about it.
Enjoy the Grand Mesa, over 300 lakes for fishing, hiking, horseback riding and wildlife viewing. Grand Mesa also offers groomed cross country ski trails by the Grand Mesa Nordic Council, gmnc.org snow mobile trails and Powder Horn Ski Resort. The Gunnison River has 13 miles of Gold Medal Waters. Dominquez and Escalante Canyons that have Indian petroglyphs and old homesteader's cabins. Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The Colorado National Moument. Ouray hot springs referred to as the Switzerland of America.
