Since purchasing this property at the beginning of 2012 we have spent considerable time, money and energy updating the house. We have paid particular attention to making the house a true vacation home, where you can relax and enjoy real peace and quiet.
Absolutely incredible house! Spent three days ice-fishing with buddies on our annual ice-fishing trip. Throughout the years (this was our 11th year) we have stayed in various locations throughout northern-Michigan. This house was by far the best place we’ve ever stayed. It truly has everything! We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet and isolation and yet, we weren’t that far from town. We enjoyed our time so much that we already made plans to rent this house again next year. Highly recommended.
The perfect location for our group of old NMU college friends annual January four day excursion. We will be back. The views from the deck, the living room and the fire pit put all of us in a relaxed state of mine. The house was the perfect layout for our group of 12 and allowed for those time when you needed to get away to read, take a nap or just watch a little TV. The kitchen has everything needed to cook for a large group. The location is perfect for those who want to take a walk, snowshoe or cross country ski.
The house was perfect for us. Lots of room and never felt cramped. We stayed in the winter, but it looked like it would be some gorgeous view in the summer.
I have been staying at this cabin lately every time me and my friends want to go and relax and breathe a little fresh air. This cabin is absolutely gorgeous, very clean and huge. The cabin is situated on the beautiful sapphire lake. If you are and sports/outdoors kind of people there is plenty to do in the vicinity of the cabin. There are over 150 miles of trails for snowmobile/atv/motorcycle riding. 10 minutes north of lake city/ 20 minutes from the cabin are some public hunting grounds on which you can hunt during the season. You can also fish on Sapphire lake straight from the pontoon near the cabin or you can go 5 minutes away on the lake Missaukee. If you want to relax you can relax next to a bonfire which has a designated place near the cabin.
Overall we had an amazing time and we'll probably rent it out every month for a whole weekend. I will not go anywhere else.
My friends and I stayed here in early October for 3 nights. By the end of it none of us wanted to leave. The house is clean, large, nicely decorated, and stocked with everything we needed. The scenery is so beautiful. The clear water and the colorful fall trees looked like something from a postcard. Being from Chicago, we don't get to see scenery like this or stars that bright often. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and are looking forward to returning next year.
In never renting a hideaway before, I was apprehensive. You wind down this dirt road, thinking you must be lost. The yard is a natural woodland. The pictures of the property are realistic inside and out. You open the door to the house and go wow. The house was clean and homey. You walk thru the 3 levels, and count all the beds and bathrooms. I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone who had any problem with stairs. The only downfall is that there is not a place to swim on the property. Sitting on the deck, drinking coffee in the morning or a drink at night was wonderful. A real nice place for a small family reunion. We will be back. If you want a good breakfast, drive into Lake City and go to the Coffee Cup restaurant. Great ice cream at the old ice cream pallor. The ice cream place doesn't look like much, but worth the stop. A+ place to get back to nature and chill out. Great place for kids to play outside, but not much for teenagers to do. Another item, that may be of interested if you have multi couples, is that there is 2 queen beds in one room, one queen in another room, 2 sets of bunk beds in another room, and a day bed and futon in the 4th room.
Property located on 264 acre all-sports Sapphire Lake close to Lake City, Michigan. Fishing, swimming, water sports... etc. Property sits on approximately four acres of forested land two miles off of the main road.
