St. Roc is a charming village house with the uniqueness of having a 2 acre garden and 9x5 metres swimming pool in a medieval village. Views from the balcony at the front of the house look over the Esterel mountains and main 'Boule area' of the village. Enjoy the activities of the village yet escape to the garden with panoramic views from the pool of the village of Seillans with the Esterel mountains in the background. All facilities are within walking distance of the house. Capacity for 8 . having 4 bedrooms (3 doubles plus 1 twin ), 3 bathrooms.

TV, Video,DVD Player. Parking ajacent to house on private road. Covered patio with dining area at the rear of the house in the garden. Alternative dining on balcony.

Restaurants and the coast: There are several good restaurants all within a few minutes walking distance of the house. Sit by the village fountains and soak up the atmosphere of this medieval village. The nearest beaches are at Frejus or Mandelieu - Cannes. It takes about 45 minutes . Seillans is well known for its Festivals which take place largely in the village square opposite the house. Enjoy a cocktail on the balcony as you watch the activity and atmosphere.

Supermarkets: There is a local supermarket with a larger one 10 minutes away by the roundabout of Fayence, 10 minutes by car. The bread shop is literally around the corner from the house next door to the fountain. There is a good butcher in the main street and a news agent and post office, grocer and chemist . Children may like to practise their French and shop for the daily croissants.

Local attractions: Lac deSt Cassien is 15-20mins drive for fun on the lake. There are also water sports, paragliding and a nearby Aerodrome at Fayence for gliding, which has a restaurant. Fayence (4 kilometres) is renowned for Gliding and is one of the most popular in europe.

Terre Blanche Golf and Country Club is 15mins drive with 2 x 18 hole magnificent courses along with a health spa and hotel run by the Four Seasons Group.

This is without a doubt one of the most memorable holidays we have ever had - from the moment we walked into the property it felt simply ideal. Would love to be able to visit again soon. Travelled with my husband and son. Enjoyed everything that the area and village offered. The property was not like the boring traditional holiday homes......it was like walking into someone elses loved home. It was a joy!

WONDERFUL POSITION BUT NOT UP TO STANDARD

St Roq is in a prime position in a delightful village. There are good restaurants and pleasant walks. There is ample parking adjacent and the garden is delightful with a good pool. It is advertised for eight people but, although there are adequate beds, two of the bedrooms can only be accessed either through a third or via a tiny shower room (with an unbelievably narrow door). Two of the double rooms are without functional windows (a skylight in one and a small high level rectangle in the second) The ground floor double room is dark and somewhat dank and the bed is well past its best with a hammock-like mattress. Bed linen is mismatched and towels provided were not entirely adequate. However the two front rooms have outstanding views. It would be difficult for eight people to all sit simultaneously in the tiny, dark, rear sitting room. Whilst all this may give the property “character” it is actually very cramped with numerous stairs between levels (not ideal for toddlers as no stair gate provided) or the elderly/ infirm.(which is stated on the website)
The house does not seem to be organised for renting. There is no smoke alarm, no fire blanket and not enough mugs or glasses for eight people. The front door needs to be kept constantly locked from the inside (on the advice of the owner) yet there is only one set of keys (and an external key box) Thus it is difficult when some members of the party go out, as they either lock the rest in or have to try and make their friends hear on their return (not easy) The dishwasher only functioned after being taken apart and the filter cleaned of fat left from a previous residence.
It is just possible to seat eight people round the table in the tiny kitchen/ dining room as long as no-one wants to move once seated but this cannot be achieved easily on the balcony (which incidentally has a wonderful view) The rear terrace is an excellent facility with evening sun, a large table and new sunshade..
The house keeper and husband were outstandingly helpful and must be commended but the systems were not in place to ensure water or water heating on our arrival. This necessitated numerous phone calls to the owners.
The house would not meet either English or French normal holiday renting standards (Gites de France or English Tourist Board)

GREAT STAY

We were a family group of two adults and two older children. We all loved our stay at St Roq and would recommend both it and the village of Seillans very highly.

The village is very pretty with a small but high quality selection of places to eat.

The house overlooks the main village square at the front and we enjoyed several meals from the lovely balcony while watching people coming an going.

The back of the house, with its fantastic pool, overlooks the village. What is magnificent about the setting is that it offers a panorama of the village without itself being overlooked at all.

The house has everything a family could need. What we liked is that there are many pictures and objects left at the house from Mary's many years of association with it. Often holiday homes are rather "sterile". In this house we felt like we were in a home not a house and had been brought into it's history.

an older visitor might feel there were lots of internal stairs but that small point aside we would recommend it very highly.

We stayed at this house several years ago. Just came across and felt that I had to write about it. We reflect many times on which a great location, beautiful village and wonderful house. Couldn't think of anything that would have made our stay any better. Just wish we could come back to stay again in the near future....you never know!

We had a lovely stay at Le Roc in July 2009. The location is superb - as described. Enhanced when we were there by the village festival right outside the house!!
Seillans is a beautiful quiet village - perfect for a relaxing holiday. Easy to reach larger / busier villages and towns in the vicinity.
The pool is fantastic - larger than most rental properties with a sublime view over the village.

    Electricity is included from June to September inclusive. At all other times electricity used to heat the house will be charged at cost.
    Please note the pool is open between late May and September(inclusive)
