My husband and I have lived in Pedasi for 5 years. We came and never left! We bought our land after being here about 5 months. We started off slowing by building our storage shed and from there our house.
We love to fish and we've got our own panga which we can't wait to get back in the water now that our house is finished.
Our family also includes Fischer and Melvin. Our 2 dogs. Fischer came with us from the states and Melvin was born here in Panama. They welcome you to bring along dogs too to enjoy the large, secured fenced in yard with them.
Christine: Skype xtine0311 purchased this house in 2012
We love the people here in Pedasi. The locals are so friendly and always willing to give you a hand. If they can't do something, they know someone who can.
We bought our property from a local family and loved it's locaton. We can walk to anything that we need and during some of the larger events like Carnivale, which is held in the park, we can return to our peaceful setting after a day of music, parades and parties.
We've tried to think of everything when we built this house. We've capture great views and breezes from all the windows. Everything is of the highest quality. After months of painstaking preparation we now have gorgeous wood ceilings and clay tile roofing. The home is so well insulated that we rarely use the air conditioning.
The patios were positioned for privacy while still capturing nice views.
We (young couple 50-53 :-)) only spent two nights in Casa Amarilla, way too short to enjoy all the ammenities of this FULLY equiped apartment/house! All the rooms are tasteful decorated, spacious and clean.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. Choise of restaurants, driving directions and on my request: can I dive here, Christine arranged immediately the best divemaster in the area!
Thanks a lot, you're still invited to a beer or wine, but now in Holland!
My husband, our dog and I stayed in this beautiful home (it is a home and not a house, you can feel it from the moment the great hosts welcome you in) for just a short while, and we wished we could have stayed longer. The place is clean and very well equipped. The unit is huge and has everything you need. It is very quite and has great gardens.
Every time we will come to stay in Pedasi, this will be the place, no doubt.
We left Wayne and Christine's Casa Amarilla in Pedasi a couple of weeks ago after an almost 3 1/2 month stay. I have been promising Christine for weeks that we would write a "post" on VRBO but have been unable to find the words to portray "emotions" on paper. Casa Amarilla and Pedasi are not just a feast for the eyes but a wonderful tonic for the soul.
Pedasi is tiny so if you are looking for "late night" activities, you have to provide those for yourself. If you want a peaceful, quiet, small and friendly community that seems to embrace all weary travellers, with amenities within walking distance of the house, then Pedasi and Wayne and Christine's house are for you. Wayne and Christine spend all day, everyday working on their beautiful property and making sure that all wants and needs of their tenants are met. We wanted for nothing. Every day there are flocks of small green parrots and beautiful hawks circling the yard and butterflies in the garden. At night the field is filled with a "light show" of fireflies. Many nights you can hear the distant soothing howls of the coyotes. The house is beautiful inside and out and has all been personally handcrafted , designed and built by Wayne and Christine. The bed is super comfortable and the tenant side of the duplex quite large inside. It has a beautiful and private deck outside. The pictures don't do it justice (sorry Christine !).The kitchen has every cooking implement you could ever need.
In the past few weeks we find that we are missing our "home" in Pedasi as well as our landlords/new friends and their 2 dogs. We left a small piece of our hearts in Pedasi and Casa Amarilla and look forward to returning for a visit in the not too distant future. When it was time for us to move on, we were glad that we didn't have to find another "rental" somewhere, we knew that the experience that Wayne and Christine created for us would not be easily found anywhere else. Thank you Wayne, Christine, Fischer and MELVIN ! Namaste !! Deb, John and Ellie (our small dog who was welcomed and loved by Wayne, Christine and their furry family,Fischer and Melvin !)
What a fantastic stay with Wayne & Christine, everything you need to feel right at home in a country setting..The house is in excellent condition with about every amity you could think of, town of Pedasi is within walking distance to local stores and many restaurants.
Arrived in Panama and stayed with Christine and Wayne for the first 8 months. Not only were the accommodations just what we were looking for in our first experience in Panama, but we made some great friends!
We had our dog with us and it was a great place (or I should say yard) for him to play in with the owner's two dogs! They got along very well! The apartment was just the right size for us including a nice sized living room and bedroom. There's even a nice porch outside to sit and enjoy the evening breezes.
The kitchen is very accommodating for the traveling cook, it even has a great mixer that I used a lot for baking! Whatever I didn't have, Christine had it!
Their house is close to town, so walking or riding our bike was great! There's a good selection of restaurants nearby, so if I didn't want to cook, we had some nice meals out.
Grocery shopping can be done in Pedasi, but if you need something more, you can either drive or take a short bus ride to Las Tablas for everything you need.
If you're looking for a great place to come and relax, meet great people and enjoy Panama living, this is the place to be!
We arrived and were met by our hosts. The place was as advertised, very relaxing. We loved the high ceilings and the beautiful fans. (we only used the AC for a few moments during our stay) It was so nice to arrive at a quite place, yet close to downtown Pedasi.
We loved the fact that we could leave the windows open at night and enjoy the gentle breezes or hear the monkeys chattering in the distance and believe it our not, the faint howling of coyotes (which we loved). It was also a pleasure to enjoy breakfasts every day as we sat on the patio soaking in the atmosphere of the place. If you plan on visiting Pedasi, this is the place to stay!
We have the perfection location within just a couple minutes walk into Central Pedasi where you will find several restuarants, mini markets, a larger super market, local watering holes, banks, clinic, pharmacy, spa, language school, gift shops and more. Yet we are off the beaten path just enough so that your stay will be peaceful and quiet except for the occasional cow moo-ing or a flock of parrots flying by.
One of our favorite beaches is Playa Arenal where you can catch a boat to bring you to Isla Iguana or hire a captain for a day of fishing. There are 2 restaurants there where you can enjoy a cold beverage and watch the fishermen bring in their daily catch.
Two other favorite beaches within a 20 minute bike ride are Playa el Toro and Playa la Garita. Great for boogie boarding. There is a bar/restaurant at Playa el Toro that looks out onto the ocean and has a pool that you can use for a small fee.
The roads to these beaches are popular with people out for a walk, run or bike ride.
If you have a car, you'll be able to explore many areas along the coast. One very popular beach is Playa Venao where several World Surfing Championships have been held. A couple of great restaurants and bars are also located here as well as a shop that rents all the equipment you need for a day at the beach.
Certainly fishing is one of the most popular things to do here and we'll be happy to help you arrange a day out on the water with one of several great captains.
Outside of town by about a 1/2 hour car ride is Las Tablas where you will find more shopping. Further, about an hour from Pedasi is Chitre. Chitre has a mall, several supermarkets and plenty of other shopping. But we find we can pretty find what we need here in Pedasi!
