Best family holiday in ages

I'd be delighted to offer a recommmendation on your truly great villa. We spent 2 weeks last May (2010) in crete and had the most excellent time at villa selene. First the location could not be better . Janey really wanted to stay away from built up areas directly by the sea so we thought it best to look for somewhere near (i.e within walking distance) of the beach and a village. Selene is handy for both, especially the little greek town a few minites walk away. We sent the older kids out for fresh bread every morning and they would come back excited after seeing sheep, chickens and pigs along the road (we live in London and rarely see any animals other than cats and dogs). I even saw an eagle flying over the olive grove. The pool is fantastic, very easy to get into with the the steps down to the water. By the way we really appreciated the gates by the pool, it gave us both peach of mind for our toddler. Satelite TV is a bonus and good for keeping the boys happy and out of the sun during the hottest part of the day. We woiuld alternate with a day at the villa and then a day at the beach. Almirida (or is it Almyrida?) has the best restaurants, our favourite is the one at the far end of the beach on the way to Kalyves. You may remember I asked about internet access when I booked the house and you are right, I had no problem finding a wireless hotspot. Is there a better way to spend my time, sitting by the beach, beer in hand and logged on to the BBC website listening to radio 5 live sports reports? Although we cannot come again this year for family reasons we plan to visit villa Selene in 2012 and this time hire a car so we can get to the water park in Chania which I have heard so much about.
