Two bedroom farmhouse that sleeps 4 close to lovely town and château

The property is a restored farmhouse set in a quiet hamlet within the Perigord-Limousin Natural Regional Park close to the historic town of Rochechouart. It has a peaceful garden and surroundings with far reaching views across the countryside.

The interior has a tasteful and neutral décor that complements the character and restored original features of the house. There is a spacious living and dining area on the ground floor, a separate well appointed kitchen, cloakroom/WC and access to the rear garden. The first floor has two good sized bedrooms (main bedroom with far reaching country views) and a modern bathroom.

Outside, the house has a secluded garden and terrace perfect for relaxing, dining and BBQ. There is off road parking for two cars.

There is a log fire and heating for cosy evenings at home.

A REALLY RELAXING FRENCH HOLIDAY IN A LOVELY HOUSE

One of the best French properties we have stayed in and at very good value, superbly fitted out with good quality equipment.
La Chabaudie is a very peaceful and relaxing place but very near to some good attractions like the wonderful Charente lakes, well worth a visit especially if you like swimming. Other places to visit the Chateau in the town of Rochechouart itself which you can’t miss when you go into the town and the village of Oradour sur Glane a reminder of the horrors of world war two or in fact any war. Confolens was another lovely town worth a visit with the river Charente running through the town and the Velo rail looks like fun although we never managed to go on that.
Would definitely recommend this property but like most places in rural France you do need a car but even driving is enjoyable here as there’s never much traffic on the roads, it’s like the UK 50 years ago.

RELAXING HOLIDAY

We found the farmhouse a peaceful getaway with breathtaking views as we approached of the chateaux in Rochechouart, which is the nearest village.
The house was well equiped and furnished with everything we needed.
You do need a car though and we would recommend visiting some of the beautiful towns and villages in the area such as Rochefoucauld, Confolens, Angouleme, Brantome and many more, all easily found on the map.
We loved eating in many of the different restaurants by the stunning lakes.
Many good supermarkets within easy reach.
We look forward to our next visit in 2012

This property is wonderful. It has bags of character and is equiped and furnished to the highest standard. In addition it is a great location; a small, quite hamlet but within walking distance (30 minutes) of the town of Rochechouart with bars and restaurants and a pituresque Chateau. There are two other restaurants within comfortable walking distance of the house.

The property description is accurate, the house is clean, well maintained and, as already mentioned, superbly equipped.

The house is well situated for the lakes of Haute-Vienne with good beaches and the opportunity to participate in a variety of watersports. We also enjoyed the use (free) of the tennis court by the lake in Rochechouart. There are plenty of other activities nearby, the velo-rail (bikes on a railway line) proved to be an enjoyable day out and the World War 2 museum and deserted village at Oradour sur Glane was thought provoking.

We had a fantastic holiday, helped by wonderful weather and I would definately recommend this property to friends and family, indeed we are considering a return visit.

GREAT HOUSE, BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS!

We were at La Chabaudie in august 2010 and had a terrific time. The house is beautiful, the garden too, with a spectacular view. The surroundings gave me great opportunities for cycling. In the nearby lake one can swim and Rochechouart has everything you need in terms of shopping. The only small imperfection in the house was the fact that one can hear each other a bit too well from different rooms, which was a little problematic with our small child. However, for the rest, all was perfect!!!

The house is perfectly situated with easy access to major roads and airport (Limoges 40 mins), local attractions and conveniently close to the medieval town of Rochechouart offering traditional shops, bars, restaurants and a beautifully restored château.

The area has national park status with unspoilt rolling landscape, pretty villages and lakes. It is an historic area with many castles and associations with Richard the Lionheart. From the house there are some lovely walks or just follow the footpath to reach our local bar and restaurant, Roc de Beouf, and enjoy a drink overlooking the river.

There is a lake at the end of the road offering more walks - and a trim trail and tennis courts for the more active.

Local attractions are within easy reach including the leisure lakes at Les Lacs de Haute Charente (15 km) with beaches, water sports, bars and restaurant.

There are lots of good restaurants nearby to sample the local cuisine
