Eric Ewing and Bruce Redman live in Redmond, Washington. We have been frequent visitors to the Big Island for 20 years. We love Mauna Lani because of the beauty of the property and the diverse landscape it offers for long walks and runs. There are few places in Hawaii where you can enjoy a scenic 3, 6, 8, or even 15 mile run or walk without getting on a highway! The beach path to the Puako Road is about one mile from our home and it opens up an abundance of running and walking terrain that compliments the wonderful paths within the resort complex. We love Kulalani because of the newness and comfortable design of the homes and the first rate pool and fitness complex. Late at night we love to sit on the back lawn and gaze into the unbelievably clear Milky Way.

We thoroughly enjoy the diversity of the Big Island, and recently returned from a week-long family vacation there. This was our first experience on the Kohala Coast, and our first VRBO rental. We loved it. We learned of this extraordinary Kulalani home from friends, who described it as "simply perfect". They were not exaggerating.
The location, the remarkable amenities, the attentiveness to the smallest of detail, and the thoughtfulness of the owners and property manager made us feel welcome and "at home" upon arrival.
One lacks for nothing in this home. The owners have considered every detail, supplied everything one could need, and have furnished their home beautifully. With private access to a white sand beach with fantastic snorkeling, nearby pools and fitness center, games and water toys for the kids, all the multimedia gear you could ever hope to need, and simply the nicest outdoor dining/lanai/BBQ in the "neighborhood"; there was nothing left to desire.
We look forward to another trip to Hawaii, and know our vacation plans will be worked around the availability of this amazing property. Thank you for everything!
This was our first trip to the big island and we will be coming back, not only for the diversity of the island, but to stay at Kulalani 2202!
I didn't know what to expect of the big island and Anne sent us a document of things to do and see on the big island before we left on our trip (you can find the same document plus a whole lot more in the binder in the unit). She also made sure we had everything we needed in order to find and get into the unit before we left, including pictures of where the lock box is :).
The house itself is incredible, the pictures online don't capture the height of the ceilings and the openness you feel as you walk through the rooms. Of course, the glass walls that slide open are the highlight, but everything in the unit is thought through and very, very nice. It's been said in the comments before, but it is as if you are staying in someone's (very nice) home for your vacation. All the little things we needed during our vacation were taken care of. For example, there are coolers (and ice packs in the freezer!), towels, umbrellas, boogie boards, and more for the beach.
The pool in complex is huge and is less than a 5 min walk. We never ended up going there because it is a quick trip to the beach club (calm) or Hapuna beach (awesome waves).
We ate out at restaurants the first two nights (Lava Lava Beach Club is fun) and grilled "at home" on the 3rd night. It was great coming back from a day at the beach and hanging out on the lanai while the kids played on the lawn (it is much larger than the pictures are able to show). We had so much fun doing this we grilled again on our last night.
We went to Maui on the first part of our trip but I didn't feel like my vacation really started until we got to Kulalani. I highly recommend this unit and the owners are fantastic to work with. Our family can't wait to go back!
Everything was perfect with our stay at Kulalani 2202. The booking and arrival arrangements made through Anne were concise and easy to follow. Payment was simple, with confirmations and receipts arriving promptly.
The villa was beautiful, like a home away from home (if only!) and we felt very privileged to stay in what is obviously a loved personal property. It is fully equipped, with everything in top working order. There's an abundance of towels, beach equipment, toiletries and basic food necessities in the cupboards.
The grounds of the complex are beautiful, with clean and large swimming pools.
The only issue we had was trying to find the private beach, but a phone call to Anne had that cleared up. Note to guests: please don't remove instructions from folders because it makes things a bit difficult for the next guests.
The local shopping centre was lovely - do join the loyalty program at the supermarket for fantastic savings. And the Thursday night mini-luau was great fun.
We were a group of 6 ladies on a getaway and have no hesitation recommending this property to you. We wish we had stayed longer and will be back for sure!
What a fabulous place! Great location and it is a nice, upscale place. It has all the ammenities you need for your vacation on the island, both in the house and if you are venturing out. Booking the place was easy and they had great follow through with questions and information. I highly recommend staying here.
Where I live, if you find a great huckleberry patch, you never tell.
That's how I feel about this beautiful condo.
We have been renting condos in Hawaii since the early 80's. Each place has been better than the last. I have learned what to look for and what to ask.
This home had everything you could ask for. I even made banana bread because they actually had a loaf pan and mixer and Cuisinart food processor. Everything in the kitchen was top notch. They provided shampoo, conditioner, laundry and dish soap, sun screen first aid stuff and on and on.
The whole place was furnished to the nines. The beds were very comfortable.
