Tor Farm is owned and managed by Brian and Caroline, both Somerset born and bred, who met when they were 16 and are still together after 39 years of marriage. Caroline concentrates mainly on the marketing and admin along with some cleaning and Brian maintains all the gardens, hot tubs, swimming pool and is the general handyman along with our son Ben, who deals with all the technically difficult things.

Tor Farm was originally a Dairy, Beef and Sheep farm, situated down a very quiet, peaceful country lane, with fantastic open views of the surrounding countryside, but owing to the economic climate we had to find another form of income as well as farming, so we started offering B & B in the main farm house in 1978 and continued to do so for 24years. This,as well as our farming has now ceased and we have diversified into offering 5 holiday properties for rental.

The most important thing in our lives are our family comprising of 1 Daughter and three Sons, all raised on the farm, who have now fled the nest and have produced 6 Grandchildren and still counting…….all of which live within one hour of Tor Farm, so will still enjoy close knit family ties.

Our hobbies are gardening, caravanning, walking, travelling, quilting and playing Bridge.

Although not a working farm any more we still have a few rare breed sheep, and we have converted the main house into a large holiday cottage, and where the farm yard once was has been landscaped into a fruit orchard and four luxury Eco log cabins erected, which we had architecturally designed, and were built by our Son Ben, and Son-in-Law Mathew, plus a few extra helpers, including ourselves.

We still live on site, so if there are every any problems we can sort them out immediately.

Our aim has always been to offer the highest quality, clean accommodation that we ourselves would feel comfortable to stay in and hopefully this is what we have achieved

If you are looking for a property in he countryside, with contemporary decorations and private hot tub along with shared outdoor heated pool, then this is definitely the place.

Peace and Quiet on a small site in a rural setting - with the benefit of a private Hot tub to massage away all those aches and pains!

The accommodation and high standards were exactly as described on the website and expected. However upon arrival without notification at all, we were shocked to see the hot tub and front porch overlooked by a building site covered with workmen! This made our "expected" relaxing, quiet and intimate week turn into a rather noisy, unsettling and uncomfortable one! We were highly disappointed and will not be returning.

Owner's Response: This winter we have added two more luxury lodges to the site.
Unfortunately at the time these guests were here, the lodges had not been screened.
This has now been done, with planting of mature trees and hedges, which ties in with the rest of the site, and now gives a tranuil appearance and privacy between each lodge.
We are devestatated to have had such a comment, as we pride ourselves on offering high uality, very clean, competitively priced accommodation.

2011 was our second visit to Tor Farm and it is so relaxing we have rebooked a third time in May 2012. Caroline and Brian always make you feel very welcome, nothing is too much trouble, and all of the lodge(s) accomodation is luxurious, no expense is spared. The welcome hamper is filled with high quality food. There is loads to do in the area, ideal for walking, or a short drive to Cheddar Gorge. Or you can just relax in the fantastic hot tub and while away the days!! If your looking for a chill out holiday this is the place to go.

One word says it all............fantastic!

As a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children aged 10 and under) we opted for the Meadow View lodge which sleeps up to 7 but realistically 5 was very comfortable - my wife and I in the main bedroom with en-suite bathroom, our 2 girls in the 2nd bedroom and our son slept in the double bed in the lounge/kitchen area and stored his clothes etc in the girls bedroom.

Accommodation was excellent, spacious, modern and very clean. Kids especially loved the spa bath which has built in lights that change colour.

Hamper on arrival with some self catering essentials (most from local local suppliers) was a nice touch.

Private decking area with hot tub and bbq which looks out over the Somerset countryside was great for relaxing after a busy day out and about with the kids - hot tub kept the kids entertained for hours on end allowing my wife and I to sit back and relax.

Our lodge was one of 4 which sits in the grounds of the former farmhouse which itself is now largely a guesthouse. The grounds are very nicely laid out with fruit trees in the common area and paths whcih wind their way through the lodges.

There is a small outdoor heated pool in a courtyard setting with deckchairs and open views to the countryside. Great for cooling off on a hot day although we did find that it was just a touch cooler than we would have liked.

Tor Farm is only a couple of miles from the main road between Cheddar and Wells which have all you need for shopping etc but far enough away to feel as though you're away from it all - very peaceful indeed. We drove down from Scotland but Bristol airport is only about a 30 minutes drive away.

Plenty to do within an hours drive - we vsited Cheddar Gorge, The Wookey Hole, The Roman Baths, Longleat Safari Park and Wells during the week that we stayed but could easily have filled out 2 weeks of 'things to do'.

Had many a chat with David (the owner) and both he and Caroline were very helpful and kept everything shipshape.

Would thoroughly recommend Tor Farm either for a short break or 1-2 week break for couples or families looking for something a bit different with a bit of luxury thrown in.

Hope to be back again and have already recommended to family and friends.

Owner's Response: Hi
Thanks for the review.
Just to put things straight- there is no guesthouse on the site. Just four luxury lodges and 1 large five bedroom holiday cottage.

I spent ages looking for the best place to house 15 girls with enough space to have a wonderful hen weekend. Tor farm was surely it! It was beautiful, had loads of space and was in the middle of the country side so was wonderfully peaceful!

The kitchen was nice and big- huge fridges for lots of bottles of wine- there were enough seats for everyone both in the dining area and living room and so many bathrooms no one had to wait!
Two lovely ladies from a nearby spa can to give us all lovely treatments in the day and the hot tub and swimming pools were a lovely addition and were well used. There is a private garden on the Cottage with a BBQ and private access to the pool which was perfect.

We had a wonderful time and would certainly recommend the large cottage at Tor farm for hen weekends or large family gatherings. Everyone was very impresed with it- and at such a good price too!

I just wish we could have stayed longer!
