I enjoyed a very relaxing five night stay at Casa Telescopio with my partner last month. We found the villa immaculate, clean and well-equipped, and it served as the perfect place for the two of us to unwind. Most days we lazed by the heated pool (always warm) or on the summer bed and we also took advantage of the DVD collection, and played many of the games kept there, in particular the darts and boules.
We did have a car to explore the island and did visit Cesar Manrique's house, the vineyards and Timanfaya National Park, but a car is not essential with so much on offer within Playa Blanca. You are a short walking distance from a beach and the seafront, where there are a great selection of restaurants and bars. The port is also central to Playa Blanca so it is easy to arrange a day trip to Corralejo on Fuerteventura.
I certainly recommend this villa, and I would definitely come back here. You feel relaxed as soon as you step through the front door.
A fantastic clean, modern and well equipped place to stay ideal for exploring Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. There is a lovely outside space that our children enjoyed playing in, it is worth noting that supervision will obviously be required due to the lay out of the swimming pool. The property is as advertised and is cleaned regularly (including the pool) to a high standard. The only negative experience we had was the water park which can be seen from the villa. Not only is this very expensive the water was incredibly cold, leading to our 2 young children having to leave after 20 minutes, the customer service was terrible. This shouldn't be a deterrent against the villa however, since this was excellent. Flamingo beach is a short walk away which is ideal for small children and has pleasant restaurants. Enjoy your stay.
The villa was as expected from reviews and photos. It was very clean, well decorated and had everything we needed. Although the kitchen was smaller than expected, meaning our adult children could not always get into the kitchen with us to wash or clear up (!!!!!), it was well eqipped and we found the welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk, orange and wine a pleasant bonus. The black folder with details of local shops, excursions, restaurant recommendations and information about the villa was invaluable. The villa felt like home as soon as we arrived outside and admired the pretty front garden and walked inside to see good sized rooms, with comfortable beds a large veranda where the day bed became a permanet feature all day, for anyone who got to it first!!! The pool was ideal and used every day.
There was an excellent selection of books, DVD's, CD's and board games to keep everyone happy. We took our own ipods and had the music on all of the time - using the ipod/radio dock already there.
For anyone wanting a LARGE meal - go to the Anvil Irish Bar!!! If you order garlic bread - one portion is enough for 2!!! We only hired a car for two days and did not get round to doing much sight seeing, as we really wanted a lazy holiday. However, did go to the Timanfaya Mountain - a must. It is only about 20 minutes from the villa by car and well worth the visit. Wish I had made the effort to see other attractions, but that will be for next time!!! If you don't like walking - get a car or have one for a couple of days, for the shopping if nothing else. We often walked to the Spar shop and then got a taxi back only 2.50 euros!! The taxi's were cheap, but we realised were were a lot nearer Playa Banca town than we thought. It was quicker to walk along the main road, but if you have the time, walk along the beach path. All in all a great holiday that was enjoyed also by our daughters who are 22 and 24. They enjoyed the Jungle Bar at Playa Blanca - good cocktails and music and open till late!!
We stayed at Casa Telescopio earlier this month and had a wonderfully relaxing week in gorgeous surroundings. This is undoubtedly the cleanest, freshest rental we've ever stayed in (and we've been to many!). The small but perfectly formed kitchen is well equipped and spotless.
The volcanic rock walls around the property make it very private, and the pool and garden area are not overlooked at all, even by the neighbouring villa. Plenty of garden and terrace furniture, including the lovely day bed (beware of falling asleep and getting sunburnt!)
The pool itself is a dream! 30 degrees at all times while we were there, making winter swimming very comfortable (warmer than the air temperature).
The main resort area is a bit of a hike, but manageable, especially as taxis are plentiful for the journey back if you need one. We had a car, which we found very handy for regular trips to the local Spar for provisions.
An unexpected bonus for the nights we stayed in was the owners' excellent taste in DVDs! They have loads, as well as music, and we also made good use of the iPod dock.
We ate out down at the seafront a couple of nights, and particularly enjoyed 'Spice' - an Indian restaurant (a little expensive but we thought well worth it).
We have never been on holiday to the same place twice, but are seriously considering going back to Casa Telescopio again next winter, and you can't get a much better recommendation than that!
The Alexanders (Mum, Dad, two boys - 9 and 7) have just spent a wonderful fortnight at Telescopio. We had already stayed for a week last year with two guests, and promised ourselves we'd go again for longer, just the four of us, and it felt like home the moment we arrived!
Last time we hired a car and explored the island a bit, this time we spent our time at the villa mostly, as the pool area is so peaceful, sunny, sheltered and just gorgeous. The boys love the pool, we love the peace and the relaxation. We used the barbecue, played darts, played Jenga, listening to our own music (the new MP3 sound system is fab and we had our ipods with us - great!!) and some of the CDs there too. The boys watched DVDs or lazed on the day bed in the shade on the really hot afternoons, before we all headed off to one of the many restaurants down by the sea. We walked down every night, and got a taxi back - only 2 or 3 Euros. The location is great - not too close to anything to be noisy and not too far away to walk into town. Also the volcano is right there to be climbed. Spell out your names in stones in the crater and see if you can find ours....!
We love the villa and the feeling that the owners look after it - my personal benchmarks being decent beds, bedding and towels and more than enough room for 6 people to sit, eat, sleep, relax and holiday together. We also like all the personal touches, far, far too numerous to mention.
We'll be back, I'm sure!
Casa Telescopio is really a home in the sun.The villa has everything that you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday. It is immaculately decorated and kept perfectly clean. It is very well eqipped with china, glassware and cutlery. ( We have stayed in some where there is not enough for the people staying there). The villa's 'bible' gives clear instructions of how to use the equipment and has recommendations for places to goi and places to eat.
The outside space is spacious and also well maintained with enough sun loungers and seating for the six people maximum occupancy.
The pool is always warm and we have spent many an evening enjoying freshly barbecued food.
The villa is situated out of town but close enough that you can walk to if you want to eat out and enjoy a drink. The walk along the promenade from Playa Flamingo to the Marina is very pleasent.
We have visited year after year for at least the last six years if not longer. We love going and can't wait to go again. WE ABSOLUTLEY LOVE STAYING THERE AND WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.
Playa Blanca is the most southerly town on Lanzarote. There is a good and varied selection of restaurants along the sea front. Some have a Flamenco night which is held on Saturdays. Just 5 mins drive away is the uber trendy Marina Rubicon which also has a market on Wednesdays & Saturdays. There are many beaches here; Flamingo, the town beach, Dorada where all water sports can be found, and also the natural beaches of Papagayo. The promenade which goes the complete length of Playa Blanca is ideal for walking and to view the sea across to the next island of Fuertaventura, which you can take the fast ferry to for a great day out. For the more adventurous and keen walkers, there are many good routes all over the island, with some fantastic walks starting in the neighbouring town of Femes. Road cycling is well catered for with many cycle paths around Playa Blanca and for that off road adventure look no further than Montaña Roja, which is the mountain you view from the terrace.
