The black sea coast has marvelous beaches, calm safe sea, clear water and healthy air, golden sands and mineral water springs.
The average air temperature in the summer is about 28C and the average water temp 25C. There are more than 240 hours of sunshine in May and September, and more than 300 hours in July and August.
There is a steep cape called Kaliakra near the town, famous for the romantic legend about forty ‘maidens’ committing suicide in the name of Christianity. It is also famous for the caves - once the habitat of the extremely rare Black Sea monk seal.
For fans of natural beauty and historical places you can find peace in the Balchik Botanical Garden or the museum at Kaliakra horn, situated either side of Kavarna and easily accessed by car.
