Not as described or pictured... A RIP OFF
We stayed at the home for a family vacation with my daughters and 3 grandchildren. The property manager met us there and was very friendly and helpful. That is the extent of anything positive I have to say. As soon as we walked through the property we felt confused and disappointed. If you want the short version, we paid for a 5 star home and had a 1 star stay. The home and furnishings were not at all as pictured. The main house was supposed to sleep 18. Evidently there are at least 9 beds missing because my 2 grandsons had to sleep on air mattresses on the floor (which had holes in them) under towels because there were not any blankets provided. The master sitting room, front living room, and upstairs bunk room had no furniture at all...not at all as pictured and completely unusable. The beds that were there were cheap and hard as a rock. The home has not been maintained well. Missing stones on the fireplace, a broken toilet seat (ouch!), tubs without drain plugs, broken ice makers, bathroom doors that don't close. The views and the pool were beautiful but the pool had a crack in it so it had to be filled up daily. We had to buy pool chairs because there was no pool furniture. The furniture in the tv area was disgusting! I could have found something better on the side of the road. There was a general lack of cleanliness, beard trimmings in the sink, bugs in the tub. In fact, the bugs were a HUGE issue. I understand that it is a home in the country, but no effort was put in to controlling the bugs. Wasps, dirt daubers, crickets, and grasshoppers outside and inside the house.
The home description, photos, and the rate need a drastic change before renting to someone else.
Owner's Response: First and foremost, I would like to apologize for your "unpleasant" stay. We want ALL of our guests to feel at home when they stay with us, and welcome constructive criticism. With that being said, I feel this review is 90% inaccurate. We take extreme pride in our property, and the majority of the problems listed are false. The pictures/furnishings change from event to event. Some of the pictures we have posted are from events. We understand that this was confusing to you, and are updating the pictures so we can prevent the problem going forward. Nowhere in our add does it say the main house sleeps 18, as it DOES not. We have an additional bunk house on the property that sleeps 21. As to the air mattress, we gave you access to 6 queen sized air mattress WITH blankets and sheets. They DO NOT have holes in them. The valves must be properly closed, or they could very well leak. The rooms you listed that have no furniture are not supposed to have furniture, with the exception of the dining room which now has a table. These rooms are made to accomodate overflow crowds. The broken toilet seat, the stone on fireplace, and the missing drain plug have ALL been fixed the day after we received your review. We have a property manager onsite 24 hours a day, and these all could have been handled immediately had you given him a call. Things are going to get broken, and obviously we will ALWAYS fix them right away if we are notified, but we weren't given the opportunity until after you left. The pool does NOT have a crack in it. It's a small pool, and when you have a large crowd water gets splashed out and it needs to be refilled. ALL of the bathrooms doors work properly. As to the bugs, we spray the grounds weekly and do a complete walk through before our guests arrive. Unfortunately, your family arrived during a high season in "critters." This is the country, and there are going to be bugs. If you came out today, you would see the drastic decline in bugs, as the weather is changing. As far as the furniture and beds go, I think that's just a difference of opinion. Your taste is obviously different than others, as you are the first to complain about the beds and furniture. Once again, I am sorry you had such an unpleasant stay, but I wish you would have given us the opportunity to fix some of the issues at hand before leaving a negative review. You are the first person who hasn't enjoyed their stay, and we will do everythhing in our power to make sure you are the last.
